Jets selected Wisconsin RB Braelon Allen with the No. 134 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Allen (6’1/235) played on both sides of the ball in high school and was even recruited as a defender before committing to running back ahead of his freshman season. He reclassified into the class of 2021, meaning he will be 20 years old as a rookie. He immediately broke out with 1,268 yards and a dozen scores on 168 attempts in his freshman season and upped his attempt total by nearly 50 in 2022 but saw his YPC drop by 1.4 yards. He fell 26 yards shy of his freshman season mark and scored one fewer touchdown. Allen then came up a few yards short of four digits in his final season of college ball, though he scored another 12 touchdowns. A physical, no-nonsense runner, Allen beats defenders with size and power but doesn’t have the long speed to outrun them for massive gains. He is also a poor pass-protector, making him a liability on passing downs. As long as the Jets don’t ask more of him than he’s capable of, Allen should be able to hold onto a two-down job for a few years in the NFL.
