Russell Wilson
PIT • QB • #3
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told Russell Wilson he is the starting quarterback after the team traded for Justin Fields.
As Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer noted, the same message has been communicated to Fields. Pittsburgh’s comically light investment in Fields, a conditional sixth-round pick, suggests they are serious about viewing him as only a backup. However, the same could be said of Russell Wilson, who is playing for the veteran minimum salary. Barring a change in training camp, Wilson will start in Week 1. Still, the risk of Wilson being pulled during a downswing has risen drastically with the addition of Fields. Neither player should be considered a viable option in most single-quarterback fantasy formats.
