NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero expects “a pretty even split” between Cowboys running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle.

Per Pelissero, Dalvin Cook will not be active for Week 1 but that could change in the coming weeks. A two-man split between Zeke and Dowdle makes both players viable fantasy options for the Cowboys’ opener versus Cleveland. Dowdle undoubtedly has more juice than Elliott as a runner but the latter is trusted in pass-protection and should serve as the goal line option. Both backs rank as FLEX plays for Week 1.
