Patrick Mahomes

KCCQB • #15

Patrick Mahomes completed 24-of-37 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown in the Chiefs’ 19-17, Week 14 win over the Chargers, adding 17 yards on four carries.

The Chiefs took a 13-0 lead into the half after the two teams both struggled to move the football consistently during the first two quarters. The Chargers then owned the third quarter, rattling off 14 unanswered points to take a 14-13 lead into the fourth quarter. Alternating field goals left Kansas City down by one point with the football and just over five minutes on the clock, which is when Mahomes took over the game. He led the team down the field, notably converting a third-and-seven with two minutes remaining deep in Chargers territory, allowing the team to take knees to run down the clock and kick the game-winning field goal as time expired. Even the kick brought more drama as it hit the upright but found its way through to lock up the AFC West for the Chiefs, who now have a two-game lead over the Bills for the one-seed after the latter lost today. Mahomes and the Chiefs travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns in Week 15.
