Sam LaPorta

Sam LaPorta

DETTE • #87

Sam LaPorta caught 2-of-3 targets for 13 yards against the Buccaneers in Week 2.

Yikes. Jared Goff had 55 pass attempts and ran twice. That’s 57 drop backs that translated into just three targets for LaPorta, who was already coming off a quiet Week 1. It was a career-low yardage total and the targets and receptions tied his lowest from 2023. LaPorta will be more involved in the Lions offense going forward. Detroit’s offense isn’t exactly humming with only eight targets to LaPorta in the first two games combined. Against Tampa Bay, the Lions were 7-for-17 on third down, which is where LaPorta thrived last season. Time to panic? No, but it certainly hasn’t been pretty in the first two weeks. LaPorta is still a top five tight end in Week 3 against the Cardinals on the road.
