The New York Post’s Paul Schwartz reports Giants QB Drew Lock won’t compete for the starting job in 2024.

“Daniel Jones is the starter of this team and that’s been conveyed to me,” Lock said during a Friday presser. Seahawks general manager John Schneider kicked off speculation that Lock could start for New York after Lock left the team for the Giants on a one-year contract. The Giants, per Schneider, “basically sold [Lock] on the opportunity to compete to be the starter.” Schwartz conceded that Lock, 27, could “get plenty of action with the first-team offense in the spring and summer, as Jones continues his recovery” from a 2023 knee injury. It would be tough for Lock to be worse than Jones. No one should be surprised if Jones has a short leash in 2024.
