Wyatt got in two limited practices this week, so we’re going to assume he gets the green light ahead of kickoff. Wyatt has two sacks and one forced fumble across seven starts this year. Green Bay signed him to a three-year extension in the offseason.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz was the first to report the deal, which includes a $20 million signing bonus. Wyatt, 28, is entering the final year of his rookie contract, but will now be under contract with the Packers through the 2029 season. The 2022 first-rounder was on pace for a career year in 2025 before an ankle injury ended his season in Week 13. Wyatt has totaled four or more sacks in each of the last three seasons while totaling 21 TFLs and three fumble recoveries over that span.

Wyatt finishes his fourth season with his best PFF tackling grade (76.8) of his career and continued to be a solid contributing pass rusher. He’ll enter his fifth-year option season in 2026 after he recovers from this ankle fracture, and will likely be available for training camp at some point.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said after the game that things “didn’t look good” for Wyatt. Now that the nature of his injury has been revealed, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport notes that Wyatt’s season “is expected to be over.” Wyatt has totaled 27 tackles, four sacks, and six TFLs for the Packers this season, and is among the league’s best interior linemen. His absence will be felt by a defense that ranks fourth in points and yards allowed this season, as rookie sixth-rounder Warren Brinson now appears slated for more work.

Wyatt’s injury appeared to be a big factor in Green Bay’s trouble stopping Dallas on Sunday night. Nazir Stackhouse and Karl Brooks filled in inside, but neither is as effective as the 2022 first-rounder had been in the first few games of the year.

Wyatt has proven himself as a capable interior pass rusher over the last two seasons, totaling 77 quarterback pressures and 12 sacks. He can be a liability in run defense, though. If he is able to take a step in the latter role, he has strong odds of receiving a hefty long-term contract next offseason.

The 27-year-old, who was the 28th overall pick in 2022, has played in 47 games in three seasons with the Packers, recording 12.5 sacks, including five in 2024. Wyatt, who will make $13.9 million in 2026 (per OverTheCap), was the Packers’ highest-graded defensive lineman last season, per PFF.

Wyatt and Walker have not been dominant forces, so the beat writer scuttlebutt has been that both may not have their fifth-year options picked up only due to cost. An extension ahead of the deadline to exercise the fifth-year option in a few weeks is a possibility. Wyatt has been an adequate pass rusher through his first three seasons with Green Bay, but his run defense has been questionable — he had a 52.0 PFF run defense grade in 2024.

Wyatt left the game early in proceedings, totaling just five snaps before leaving. Should the Packers come back and advance to the Divisional Round, his status will be questionable. Wyatt played 14 games and racked up five sacks and 23 combined tackles in the regular season.
