O’Hoppe tagged Louis Varland for a 412-foot (109.2 mph EV) solo shot in the sixth inning that pulled the Angels to within six runs at 9-3. That would be his only hit in the ballgame. He’s off to a terrific start at the plate once again this season, slashing .280/.299/.573 with seven long balls and 12 RBI.

Burke, 28, pitched after opener Tyler Gilbert worked a scoreless inning. The right-hander pitched well until the fifth inning, but he gave up a solo homer to Jacob Wilson and three more runs charged to him after departing an inning later. Burke has not been all that much more effective since moving to the bulk role, and he isn’t a recommended option whatsoever whenever he pitches in this role again.

Yikes. The right-hander punched out three batters in the otherwise miserable performance. The Twins scratched out a run against him in the first inning and added two more in the third — one of them on a solo blast from Byron Buxton. Hendricks then allowed the first four hitters to reach in the fourth inning, three of them via walks, before turning the ball over to the bullpen which would allow all of the inherited runners to score. Hendricks got just four swings and misses on 90 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll try to pick up the pieces as he carries a 5.48 ERA and 1.39 WHIP into Thursday’s matchup against the Tigers.

The 23-year-old blasted five homers and swiped four bases within his first 30 plate appearances on the season, but since then he’s slashing a pitiful .111/.179/.139 with an 18/1 K/BB ratio over 40 plate appearances. A day off to clear his head will hopefully do him some good. Tim Anderson will start in his place at second base and bat ninth for the Halos against Twins’ right-hander Pablo Lopez.

Ramírez also doubled, and the 23-year-old hit his first MLB homer with a two-run blast off Casey Lawrence. The former New York prospect has been ridiculous with the bat, and while it’s a small sample, hitting .700 with a 1.400 OPS in any amount of playing time deserves admiration. Ramírez has significant upside, and it’s not a crazy notion whatsoever to consider him for a roster spot.

Kirk’s double off Devin Williams gave the Jays a 3-2 lead in the ninth, and the pinch-runner employed in his place came around as an insurance run. The double was just Kirk’s fourth extra-base hit of the year, and it was responsible for his seventh and eighth runs batted in. He’s struggled to a .227/.263/.307 line in 80 plate appearances.
