Jesús Sánchez swatted a two-run homer in a win over the Mariners on Friday.
Sánchez, 27, doubled up the Marlins’ lead with a two-run homer off Casey Lawrence. It’s the first homer of the season for the outfielder, and he’s hit an unusable .226/.333/.355 with five RBI and a single stolen base over 31 games.

Agustín Ramírez hit a two-run homer in Friday’s 8-4 win over the Mariners on Friday.
Ramírez also doubled, and the 23-year-old hit his first MLB homer with a two-run blast off Casey Lawrence. The former New York prospect has been ridiculous with the bat, and while it’s a small sample, hitting .700 with a 1.400 OPS in any amount of playing time deserves admiration. Ramírez has significant upside, and it’s not a crazy notion whatsoever to consider him for a roster spot.
Cal Quantrill

Cal Quantrill yielded four runs over 5 1/3 innings but still picked up a win against the Mariners on Friday.
Quantrill didn’t pitch well, but he didn’t have to with the Marlins beating up on Casey Lawrence after Logan Gilbert left early with forearm tightness. He did strike out five, but he gave up two homers while seeing his ERA remain an ugly 7.83. Imagine thinking it’s a good idea to start Quantrill against the Dodgers next week.

Alejandro Kirk delivered a two-run double in the top of the ninth to help the Blue Jays defeat the Yankees 4-2 on Friday.
Kirk’s double off Devin Williams gave the Jays a 3-2 lead in the ninth, and the pinch-runner employed in his place came around as an insurance run. The double was just Kirk’s fourth extra-base hit of the year, and it was responsible for his seventh and eighth runs batted in. He’s struggled to a .227/.263/.307 line in 80 plate appearances.

Logan O’Hoppe went 1-for-4 and crushed a solo home run on Friday night as the Angels were clobbered by the Twins in Minneapolis.
O’Hoppe tagged Louis Varland for a 412-foot (109.2 mph EV) solo shot in the sixth inning that pulled the Angels to within six runs at 9-3. That would be his only hit in the ballgame. He’s off to a terrific start at the plate once again this season, slashing .280/.299/.573 with seven long balls and 12 RBI.
Braxton Fulford

Rockies optioned C Braxton Fulford to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The Rockies had carried a third catcher for a while with Hunter Goodman seeing most of his time elsewhere, but with a severely depleted infield they needed to add another option to the mix on Friday and Fulford became the roster casualty. The 26-year-old went 1-for-8 (.125) with a solo homer in his limited action with the Rockies.
