The Rockies had carried a third catcher for a while with Hunter Goodman seeing most of his time elsewhere, but with a severely depleted infield they needed to add another option to the mix on Friday and Fulford became the roster casualty. The 26-year-old went 1-for-8 (.125) with a solo homer in his limited action with the Rockies.

McMahon will be out of the lineup for the first time in 2025. The 30-year-old has scuffled mightily with a .528 OPS to begin the campaign, and the Rockies will give him a chance to reset in the series finale against Cincinnati. McMahon has had ups and downs throughout his career, and he’s a great bounceback candidate in the coming weeks.

Amador later drive in a run with a double in the ninth. The 22-year-old second baseman is getting his shot to play with Ezequiel Tovar and Thairo Estrada on the injured list, though he’s hitting just .214/.290/.393 with ten strikeouts over 32 plate appearances.

Playing his second game of the season after missing time with a hamate bone fracture, Alvarez delivered a two-run blast off Brad Lord in the second inning to drive in the only two runs of the game. The 23-year-old backstop’s return provides a spark for a team that’s already off to a great start at 19-8. His power potential warrants interest in most one-catcher formats at least 12 teams and deeper.

Herrera caught a bullpen session on Saturday and is aiming to begin a minor league rehab assignment by the end of next week. The 24-year-old backstop was originally expected to miss roughly one month after being diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee back in early April. It appears there’s a decent shot he’ll rejoin the Cardinals’ lineup at some point in early May.
