The Braves needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for Scott Blewett on Sunday and it looks like Suarez was the odd man out this time around. The 27-year-old hurler posted a solid 2.45 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a troublesome 5/7 K/BB ratio over 7 1/3 innings with the Braves. He could attract some interest on waivers.

The Orioles had designated Blewett for assignment on Saturday, so they were willing to flip him for anything that they could get at this stage. The 29-year-old hurler will add some extra bullpen depth for the Braves. The Braves designated José Suarez for assignment in a corresponding move.

It was a bit surprising to see the 23-year-old right-hander not deployed during the extra-inning affair, so it’s good to hear that it’s just general fatigue and not any sort of injury that Martinez is dealing with. It sounds like he should be able to return to action in a day or two, but it’s still a situation that fantasy managers should probably monitor just in case.

Naylor also singled in the D-backs’ lone run prior to extra innings. He tried to add an insurance run with the element of surprise by stealing home in the 11th, but he was barely thrown out at the plate. Naylor is batting .333/.406/.548 with four homers through 22 games.

There was a first-inning rain delay while Taillon was on the mound, but it probably didn’t shorten his outing at all. He allowed three hits, walked two and struck out six in the 87-pitch start. By not giving up a homer for the first time this season, he lowered his ERA from 5.40 to 4.73. He’s due to face the Phillies next time out.

Jameson was called up Saturday after posting a 2.70 ERA in seven appearances for Triple-A Reno. Primarily a starter as a pro, the Diamondbacks plan to keep him in the pen this year in his first season back from Tommy John. He could wind up being pretty useful in short relief.

The Angels entered the ninth inning trailing 4-1, but they got things going as Mike Trout worked a walk, Jorge Soler and Logan O’Hoppe each singled, and Zach Neto was hit by a pitch. Adell then followed with a three-run double down the line in left field that send the Angels’ home faithful into a frenzy. The 26-year-old outfielder finished the day 1-for-4 and is now hitting .224/.274/.379 on the season with two homers and 12 RBI.

The Giants had just taken a 1-0 lead in the top half of the fifth inning before Neto launched Justin Verlander’s first pitch of the sixth inning for a game-tying 428-foot (109.3 mph EV) solo home run. Neto drew another run and RBI when he was plunked with the bases loaded in the ninth inning and scored on Jo Adell’s three-run double. He also lined out to right field and bounced into a double play in the ballgame. He has done a nice job in his first three games since returning from the injured list, hitting .222 (2-for-9) with a homer, double and three RBI.

The 33-year-old southpaw scattered five hits and four walks on the afternoon. The lone tally against him came on an RBI single by Willy Adames in the fifth inning after Heliot Ramos had doubled and advanced to third on a throwing error. Kikuchi got 10 swings and misses on 102 pitches on the day — half of those on his slider — while registering a CSW of 26 percent. Still winless on the season, he’ll tote a 3.38 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and a 28/14 K/BB ratio (29 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Twins in Minneapolis.

Kelly had been cruising in the sixth inning — allowing just one run on two hits and a walk over 5 2/3 innings — when he was lifted after only 81 pitches. Fortunately, it sounds like a minor issue and not one that should cause him to miss his next start. Fantasy managers should monitor his status over the next couple of days though to be on the safe side.

The last does come with a caveat, as Wyatt Langford clearly beat Smith’s throw on the steal attempt. However, his pop-up slide popped him right off the bag, resulting in the out. Smith entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the eighth and delivered a single before coming around to score on Freddie Freeman’s sac fly. He’s batting .339/.443/.500 in 71 plate appearances.

A fortunate caught stealing ended the contest. Scott has been less than dominant in the early going, but he’s gotten away with it, largely because he’s somehow gone 12 innings without walking anyone. He walked 36 in 72 innings last year. In 2022, he walked 46 in 62 2/3 innings.

The game was still scoreless when Mahle departed, so he wasn’t rewarded for his fourth consecutive excellent effort. Mahle got five outs in the first start of the year against Boston, but he’s allowed just one run in 25 innings since. It was mostly about soft contact today, as he wound up with four strikeouts and just six missed swings. He’ll be a decent mixed-league option in his start in San Francisco against the Giants next weekend.

Not only is Burger batting .179, but he also has only one walk to go along with 21 strikeouts in 70 plate appearances. Many were pretty optimistic about Burger in Texas, but he’s always had big plate discipline issues, and his 103 OPS+ last year didn’t make him a very good regular for the Marlins. There’s a chance the Rangers might be better off with Blaine Crim or Justin Foscue at first.

Norby had his best game since returning from the injured list Sunday. While he’s still yet to drive in a run, Norby had three hits including a double and stole his first base. The 24-year-old third baseman was batting third in the order so the opportunities to drive in runs will be there. He should be rostered in all formats at this point.

Turner singled, stole second and scored on a two-run double by Bryce Harper in the first inning. The 31-year-old shortstop already has six steals after recording just 19 stolen bases in 2024. Turner’s .364 OBP would be his best in a season since 2021. He’s stolen at least 30 bases in a season six times in his career and seems primed to do it once again.

Harper gave the Phillies the early lead with a two-run double and scored on a single by Nick Castellanos in the first inning. Philadelphia would only score two more runs and tally one extra-base hit for the rest of the game as they lost to the Marlins. Harper is now hitting .272 with a .910 OPS and 14 RBI so far this season.

Rob Brantly was pulled from Sunday’s game due to a shoulder injury and it sounds like he could be heading to the injured list. The 23-year-old has hit .258/.320/.500 with three homers, 12 RBI and five stolen bases in his first 18 games at Triple-A Jacksonville this season. If he sees regular action with the Marlins, his dynamic blend of power and speed would make him an intriguing option in two-catcher formats and deeper mixed leagues.

Luzardo gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out seven. The 27-year-old left-hander allowed his second run, which was unearned, on an error by Bryson Stott in the seventh inning. Luzardo left with a 4-2 lead, but Orion Kerkering coughed it up in the eight inning, spoiling the win for Luzardo. Nevertheless, he has a 2.08 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 36 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings this year. Luzardo is set for a difficult matchup against the Cubs on the road next weekend.

Gillispie gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out three. His ERA sits at 6.75 on the year after allowing four runs in five innings against the Phillies. Gillispie’s grip on his spot in the rotation seems tenuous at best. He’s set to face the Mariners on the road next weekend, but isn’t a streaming option despite the good matchup.

The 31-year-old hurler was lifted from Sunday’s start against the Rangers due to cramping in both of his calves. Glasnow said after the game that he was experiencing cramping in both calves, but that has been drinking fluids and is already feeling much improved. The right-hander dealt with a similar issue during the 2024 season and didn’t need to miss any time. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on the situation, but it sounds like he should be ready to go for Sunday’s showdown against the Pirates.

Hoskins’ homer off Jeffrey Springs was his third, all of which have come in his last five games. He’s raised his OPS from .519 to .778 during the stretch. That might make it tempting to give him a look in mixed leagues, but he doesn’t have great matchups with road series against the Giants and Cardinals this week.

Henderson was available out of the pen when the Brewers called him up Tuesday, but since he was never needed, the team opted to give him the start over Tyler Alexander today with great results. Using his fastball and changeup the vast majority of the time, he finished with 13 whiffs and a 29 percent CSW. Henderson isn’t viewed a big upside guy, but the changeup is strong and he’s not going to walk many. He should be able to help the Brewers, even if he’s not a mixed-league guy. Still, with Tobias Myers about to return from the IL, it’s possible he’ll head back to Triple-A now.

The Brewers ran wild on the A’s today, and Turang, who had 50 steals last season, upped his 2025 total from five to eight. Seemingly a totally new player, Turang’s average exit velocity is up over five mph this year. About as bad of a day as a player can have. The Brewers were 8-for-9 stealing bases and scored 14 runs while Langeliers was in the game. Sadly enough, that improved Langerliers’ season caught stealing percentage from six percent (1-for-17) to nine percent. There’s plenty to like about Langeliers’ bat, but the defense is going to be an issue if the A’s want to contend at some point.

The 32-year-old southpaw was removed from Sunday’s outing against the Brewers due to soreness in his right hamstring, which he said was more of a cramp than anything. The 26-year-old backstop clobbered a 433-foot (108.6 mph EV) solo shot off of right-hander Jake Irvin in the sixth inning, pulling the Rockies to within a run at 3-2.
