The 26-year-old southpaw struck out four batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. He struggled to keep the ball in the yard in this one, serving up solo homers to Riley Greene in the second inning and Javier Baez as part of a three-run uprising in the third. Abbott generated eight swings and misses on 89 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll attempt to put this one behind him and improve upon his disappointing 6.59 ERA and 1.78 WHIP when he takes on the Rockies at home on Thursday afternoon.

With the temperature below 40 degrees in this one, Abbott’s velocity was off by about one mph. He also walked three and threw just 52 of his 97 pitches. Given the conditions, it’s not a day for making any judgments about a pitcher. Abbott, though, doesn’t seem like a mixed-league guy right now. He’ll face the Tigers next weekend.

Abbott, now 0-2 with a 5.85 ERA, usually has had good fortune on balls in play, but not this season so far and especially not today, as he yielded eight hits despite giving up just five hard-hit balls to the Angels. Of course, it’s also not helping that he’s not missing bats. He struck out just one today and he’s fanned a total of 12 of the 90 batters he’s faced in four starts. While he’ll probably be better against the Twins next weekend, he seems very droppable in mixed leagues at this point.

Abbott allowed six hits, two walks and struck out two. It was far from a dominant effort from the 26-year-old with only six swing-and-misses generated, but a vast improvement from his scuffles against the Pirates on Wednesday (four runs, 5 2/3 innings). Abbott will look to continue to improve against the Angels over the weekend.

Abbott struck out five and walked three while registering 10 whiffs and a 27 percent CSW on the day. The Pirates hit his four-seamer hard, with a 95 mph average exit velocity on the pitch, and Abbott didn’t really throw enough strikes with the curve and changeup to keep the Pirates hitters guessing. He’ll look to bounce back against the Marlins next week.

Abbott gave up two singles in each of the first two innings, but he also generated double-play balls both frames. He ended up striking out four batters, and he retired the final five guys he faced in the fifth and sixth innings. He didn’t surrender anything even close to a homer today after giving up six in 17 2/3 innings this spring. Abbott is slated to take on the Pirates next time out, and he’ll likely face off against a rather ticked off Paul Skenes.

Abbott gave up a two-run homer in the second and then two more runs after being pulled in the fourth, which he would have been out of already if not for a Sal Stewart error. He came back out for the fifth and gave up one more run after a leadoff double, though he retired three straight afterwards. In all, it was a better night than the line suggests. Abbott ends the spring with a 12.74 ERA. He’s not someone we recommend, but that’s because he’s an extreme flyball pitcher with a middling strikeout rate in a tough ballpark for pitchers; it doesn’t have anything to do with the poor spring.

The positive news here is that these games don’t count. Abbott surrendered eight hits, including a two-run homer to journeyman backstop James McCann as part of a tough afternoon in the desert. He’ll take the ball for Cincinnati on Opening Day and remains a top-60 range fantasy starter following last year’s breakthrough campaign.

Abbott served up a homer to – on a cutter that he’s been working on this spring. He generated six swinging strikes and finished with a respectable 30 percent CSW in his latest spring tune-up, building up his pitch count to 69 (42 strikes) in the process. The 26-year-old southpaw will take the ball on Opening Day for the Reds against the Red Sox at Great American Ball Park on March 26.

Abbott draws the starting assignment when Cincinnati kicks off the regular season on March 26 against the Red Sox at Great American Ball Park. It’s his first career Opening Day nod for the 26-year-old southpaw, who gets the ball in place of injured Reds ace Hunter Greene (elbow). Abbott was a revelation last year, posting a sparkling 2.87 ERA — 3.55 xERA — across 166 1/3 innings over 29 starts. He’s a top-50 range starting pitcher in fantasy drafts this spring.

Abbott gave up flies with projected distances of 454, 448 and 444 feet today, though only one turned into a homer. His spring ERA is sitting at 12.27 after three outings, but that still doesn’t seem like any reason for concern. He should, however, give up more homers this year and prove worse for fantasy purposes.

The last two runs came after he was pulled with two outs in the third. Abbott has an 11.57 ERA after two turns this spring, but no one will care much about that. He seemed like a poor value pick in mixed leagues after a strong 2025 season that wasn’t really backed up by his peripherals regardless of the spring line.

Abbott is one of the more challenging pitchers to forecast since he doesn’t miss a ton of bats and vastly outperformed last year’s 3.55 xERA with a pristine 2.87 ERA across a career-high 166 1/3 innings over 29 starts. The 26-year-old southpaw is a top-50 range fantasy starter heading into 2026, even if there’s some pullback from a run prevention standpoint looming.

The 26-year-old southpaw punched out four batters on the night and didn’t walk a batter. The Reds staked him to a 6-0 lead in the third inning, so all he had to do was keep the train on the tracks in this one. Abbott gave up two runs in the third inning, then served up a solo homer to Jackson Chourio before exiting in the sixth. He got nine whiffs on 85 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 33 percent. Abbott finishes the regular season 10-7 with a 2.87 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 149/43 K/BB ratio over 166 1/3 innings in his 29 starts.

Abbott needed one more out to qualify for the win in a 1-0 game, but the Reds weren’t willing to risk it after Ian Happ singled to bring up Seiya Suzuki for a third time. Nick Martinez entered then and struck out Suzuki before pitching scoreless sixth and seventh innings to receive the victory. Abbott has just one win since the All-Star break, but he hasn’t been bad in posting a 3.75 ERA in 12 starts. He’s due to face the Brewers next weekend.

Abbott surrendered a run in the first inning on two hits and a sacrifice fly, then gave up a two-run homer to Thomas Saggese in the third. Abbott pitching into the fifth, leaving with one runner on base and two outs at 96 pitches. He struck out seven. The 26-year-old left-hander will take a 2.88 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 143/42 K/BB ratio across 156 1/3 innings into a start against the Cubs in Cincinnati on Sunday.

This was much better than his last outing, as Abbott struck out six and walked only two while posting a 27 percent whiff rate and 28 percent CSW. The lone damage done to him was a solo home run from Fernando Tatis Jr. Abbott will now bring a 2.79 ERA into a great start against the Cardinals next week.

The Mets jumped all over Abbott in the top of the first with three runs on a walk, two singles, a sacrifice fly, and one more single. Then, Mark Vientos tacked on another run in the third with a solo home run and Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto scorched consecutive doubles in fourth to bring in one more. Two more runners reached base in the fifth, and Abott was finally pulled. He wasn’t able to force many chases out of the zone from this red-hot Mets lineup and he left way too many pitches in the heart of the zone. He truly had nothing in this start and will try to get right next time out in another touch matchup with the Padres.

Abbott, who caught a huge break when the Cardinals forgot about the infield-fly-rule on a bases-loaded popup with one out in the first, struck out seven and allowed just three hits tonight, but he gave up two runs after issuing two of his four walks, hitting a batter and giving up a single in the fourth. Abbott actually came into this one having not walked a batter in three starts. The loss concludes an August in which went 0-4 with a reasonable 4.45 ERA. The Reds totaled eight runs in the five games that he started. Abbott will face the Mets next week.

On the plus side for fantasy managers, the 26-year-old southpaw still managed to strike out six batters on the night and didn’t walk a batter. Abbott had allowed just three runs in the first inning through his first 22 starts on the season, and the Diamondbacks jumped on him for three in the opening frame of this one. He then served up a two-run blast to Lourdes Gurriel Jr. in the third inning and another to Geraldo Perdomo in the fourth. He’ll try to put his worst start of the season behind him and get back on track as he carries a 2.62 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 118/35 K/BB ratio (134 innings) into Friday night’s soiree against the Cardinals.

Abbott gave up four hits, walked none and struck out seven. The 26-year-old left-hander has recorded at least six strikeouts in three of his last five starts. Abbott was in line for his ninth win before a blown save in the ninth inning. He has a 2.28 ERA and 112/35 K/BB ratio in 130 innings this year. Abbott is lined up to face the Diamondbacks on the road next weekend.

It’s tempting to criticize Terry Francona for asking for too much from Abbott tonight, but it’s not really like Abbott ran out of gas; he just gave up three rather soft hits with two outs in the eighth. He was pulled with the Reds down 2-1, and Tony Santillan immediately gave up a two-run homer to Kyle Schwarber. Abbott dropped to 0-2 in five starts since the break, but not much has changed for him, and his ERA is only up to 2.41 because he’s given up six runs in the seventh and eighth innings of his last two outings. He’ll face the Brewers next.

The wind was blowing in some from right at Wrigley today, but Seiya Suzuki and Dansby Swanson were able to take Abbott out to left. Abbott settled for three strikeouts today after finishing with just one last week against the Braves. He had a 33% strikeout rate in three starts in April and came in at 26% in May, but he’s since finished at 17% in June and 16% in July. He’s still a remarkable 8-2 with a 2.34 ERA overall, but we wouldn’t want to rely much on him remaining useful in mixed leagues going forward. He’ll face the Phillies next week.

The 26-year-old southpaw issued five free passes on the night while recording only one strikeout. Still, he managed to hold the Braves to just one run through the first five innings before exiting with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth. Two of those inherited runners ultimately came around to score. Abbott generated eight swings and misses on 96 pitches on the evening, registering a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he carries a stellar 8-1 record, 2.15 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 96/33 K/BB ratio (108 2/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Cubs in Chicago on Wednesday.

Abbott held the Rays scoreless through five innings before giving up a solo homer to Yandy Díaz in the sixth. His day would be done after six innings, scattering two hits and three walks while striking out seven batters. The 26-year-old left-hander will take an excellent 2.09 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 95/28 K/BB ratio across 103 1/3 innings into a start against the Braves in Cincinnati on Thursday.

Abbott gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. The 26-year-old left-hander continues to defy the advanced metrics. Despite a 4.09 xFIP this season, Abbott has pitched to a 2.13 ERA in 17 starts. He has an 88/25 K/BB ratio in 97 innings this year. Abbott is lined up to face the Rays at home next weekend.

What a start from Abbott. The Marlins managed just two hits that left the infield until the eighth inning and he was in complete control throughout. He forced 15 swings-and-misses in total with five each coming from his fastball and changeup. It’s been a magical first half for Abbott who is heading to Atlanta for his first All-Star game with a 2.07 ERA

It’s a deserving selection for Abbott, who will head to the Midsummer Classic for the first time in his career, after posting a sparkling 2.15 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 78/22 K/BB ratio across 83 2/3 innings (15 starts). The 26-year-old southpaw is replacing Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who will not pitch in the game itself after starting Sunday’s first-half finale against the Giants.

Abbott’s success this season is largely a product of his .202 average against and .241 BABIP, but his luck changed today, as he gave up nine hits while allowing only five hard-hit balls. One of those was a two-run homer from Nick Castellanos, but most of the rest were singles. The nine hits were a season high for him, and the 3 1/3 innings were a season low. Still, the offense picked him up, and he remains 7-1 with his final first-half start probably coming up Wednesday against the Marlins.
