It’s a relief for Arizona that Alexander managed to avoid serious injury after being hit by a pitch on the left elbow during Sunday’s contest against the Twins. The versatile 26-year-old has put together a phenomenal second half to seemingly cement his spot as part of the team’s future nucleus.

Alexander appeared to be in a serious amount of pain after being drilled on the left elbow. He was 0-for-1 with a run scored before departing. He’ll presumably head for X-rays to determine whether he suffered any fractures. There should be an update on his status soon. It’s a tough development for the unhealded 26-year-old, who has had a phenomenal second half with seven homers over 29 games in the month of August.

Gabriel Moreno singled in the go-ahead run before Alexander broke things open tonight. We figured Alexander would take a backseat at third base when Jordan Lawlar was called up and start seeing more time at other positions, but while that was the case initially, he’s now started five straight games at third, with Lawlar only in the lineup twice as a DH during that span. It suggests Alexander might go into next spring as the favorite at that spot, as Lawlar’s minor league success hasn’t translated just yet.

Arizona is attempting to find creative ways to keep Alexander’s sizzling-hot bat in their lineup by giving him an opportunity in center field where his speed and athleticism should be a natural fit. The 26-year-old has been on fire since the start of August, batting .255 (26-for-102) with seven homers, 15 RBI and one steal in 29 contests. Ketel Marte is back at the keystone with top prospect Jordan Lawlar at the hot corner on Tuesday evening to face Rangers lefty Patrick Corbin.

Alexander socked a two-run homer off Blake Snell to make it 2-0 in the fourth, and that was all the offense Zac Gallen would need. They scored one more run, anyway. Alexander has seven homers in 2025 with .234/.331/.441 slash. It won’t be a surprise if he carves out a nice career, but it’ll be surprising if it comes with a ton of fantasy significance.

Alexander capped off a three-run rally in the first inning with an RBI ground rule double off of Andrew Abbott. He then tagged Zach Maxwell for a 371-foot (96.1 mph EV) solo shot in the fifth inning that extended the Diamondbacks’ edge to 8-0. He also singled in the eighth inning and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Ketel Marte. The 26-year-old infielder is now slashing .242/.333/.427 with five homers, 15 RBI and a pair of stolen bases through his first 143 plate appearances with the Diamondbacks this season.

Jordan is Rule 5 eligible at the end of this season, so the Red Sox shipped him off at the trade deadline in exchange for reliever Steven Matz. Jordan has hit just .143/.184/.257 in nine games with the Cardinals’ organization with one home run, nine RBI, and five runs scored. The 22-year-old either needs to be added to the Cardinals’ 40-man roster at the end of this season or left exposed to the Rule 5 draft, so his final weeks of the season will be crucial for his future.

Alexander put the Diamondbacks on the board with a solo homer off Jack Leiter to lead off the third inning. The 26-year-old infielder has been hot at the plate since getting full-time third base duties, hitting his fourth home run this month with four multi-hit games.

The 26-year-old infielder strolled to the dish with the bases loaded and two outs in the first inning and he unloaded them with a three-run double into left field that gave the Diamondbacks an early lead they would never relinquish. He then added to that advantage with a 380-foot (100.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Austin Gomber in the fourth inning that made it a 4-1 ballgame. He was also hit by a pitch in the eighth inning. With his two-hit attack, Alexander is now hitting .240/.321/.400 with two homers, 10 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 86 plate appearances on the season.

Alexander was making a fifth straight start with Eugenio Suárez’s departure opening up third base. It’s expected that the rehabbing Jordan Lawlar will take that spot later this month, at which point Alexander will probably become more of a utilityman. Alexander is batting .226/.294/.339 in 70 plate appearances.

Jordan proved to be an overrated prospect in his first couple of years out of high school, but he’s put up a pretty encouraging .304/.373/.494 line as a 22-year-old in Double- and Triple-A this year and struck out just 38 times in 353 plate appearances. He still doesn’t offer as much in-game power as he looks like he should, and he is going to be Rule 5 eligible this offseason. With his future looking likely to be limited to DH, the Red Sox seemed to feel he had no place on their roster in 2026 and beyond. Still, he’s a good get for Matz.

Alexander smacked a go-ahead RBI double off of Jose Soriano in the fourth inning that gave the Diamondbacks a lead they would never relinquish. He then raced around to score on an RBI double off the bat of Jose Herrera. With his two-hit attack, the 26-year-old is now hitting .238/.304/.333 with one RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 23 plate appearances with the Diamondbacks.

This seemed like a foregone conclusion with Ildemaro Vargas fracturing his ankle on Tuesday. Alexander has hit .284/.413/.479 in 54 games at Triple-A with eight home runs, 11 steals, and a 59/38 K/BB ratio. He has primarily played third base for Reno, but has also appeared in plenty of games at shortstop and a few at second base as well, so he will likely fill a role as a reserve infielder while he’s up in Arizona.

Alexander spent much of last season with the Diamondbacks as a 25-year-old rookie, but he opened this year on the shelf with a strained oblique and has been left in Triple-A since returning in April. Perhaps he’ll get a chance in Ildemaro Vargas’s spot if he stays hot. He’s 11-for-31 with four steals this month, and he’s at .272/.400/.456 with six homers and nine steals in 45 games overall.

After struggling through a disappointing year in Double-A last season, Jordan has turned things around. He hit well enough in 44 games at Double-A to earn a promotion and has since gone 11-for-29 in seven games at Triple-A with one home run, six RBI, and a 4/1 K/BB ratio. The Red Sox are getting enough production from Abraham Toro and Romy Gonzalez at first base that there is no need to rush Jordan, but if the team falls out of contention, they could give the 22-year-old a chance at the end of the season to decide what their plan is for him in 2026.

Jordan is 3-for-8 with a home run and two RBI since being promoted to Triple-A and is hitting .323/.416/.538 with seven home runs, 39 RBI, three steals and a 20/23 K/BB ratio in 46 games across Double-A and Triple-A. The improvements in contact rate for the 22-year-old have been impressive, and he’s positioning himself to be the long-term platoon partner for Triston Casas at first base. If the Red Sox keep struggling, Jordan may even get a shot to play first base in Boston this summer.
