Even though Logan Allen pitched eight scoreless innings last time out, the Guardians picked Cantillo over him tonight. Cantillo went on to give up just three hits and walk none before being pulled from a tie game in the sixth. Cantillo ends the regular season 5-3 with a 3.21 ERA in 13 starts and 21 relief appearances. He’ll probably return to the bullpen for the postseason, but he should be in the rotation to open 2026.

Cantillo retired just one of four batters in the fifth before leaving with the bases loaded. Erik Sabrowski took over and got both Kody Clemens and Austin Martin to pop out to strand all three runners and make Cantillo’s day look a lot better than it might have. Cantillo’s turn in the rotation will come up again on the final day of the season, but if the Guardians are playing must-win games, Gavin Williams should pitch then. Cantillo could be picked over Logan Allen on Saturday, but that seems less likely after Allen’s effort yesterday.

The 25-year-old southpaw also issued two walks on the night while recording three strikeouts. The lone tally against him came on a solo blast off the bat of Gleyber Torres in the third inning. Aside from that, Cantillo was brilliant. He got eight swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll look to replicate this strong outing as he carries a 3.27 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 95/40 K/BB ratio (85 1/3 innings) into Sunday’s matchup against the Twins in Minneapolis.

Cantillo has rarely been described as efficient, but he was in this one, throwing 92 pitches — 72 of them strikes — in getting 24 outs. He struck out five and walked none. while showing his best velocity as a starter this year. Unfortunately, with the Guardians using a six-man rotation, Cantillo won’t have a two-start week this week or next, when he’s due to face the Tigers on Tuesday.

Cantillo received a touchdown worth of run support by the second inning and was able to cruise to a relatively easy win against a Boston lineup that looked completely lost without rookie sensation Roman Anthony. He carried a shutout into the fourth inning before Nick Sogard delivered a run-scoring single. The 25-year-old righty figures to get an extended opportunity over the final three weeks and offers some fantasy appeal, even in shallow formats. He’ll take the ball on Tuesday against the Royals in his next outing.

Cantillo rejoins Cleveland’s rotation after spending a couple weeks back in the minors. The 25-year-old will take the ball for Wednesday’s series finale against the Red Sox at Fenway Park and offers some streaming appeal in deeper formats. He holds a solid 3.93 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 80/36 K/BB ratio across 66 1/3 innings (29 appearances, eight starts) this season in the big leagues.

Cantillo offers some streaming appeal for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues, despite a tough matchup against a red-hot Boston lineup at hitter-friendly Fenway Park. The 25-year-old has posted a respectable 3.93 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 80/36 K/BB ratio across 66 1/3 innings (29 appearances, eight starts) this season in the big leagues.

Cantillo has been shipped to the minors after posting a solid 3.93 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 80/36 K/BB ratio across 66 1/3 innings (29 appearances, eight starts) this season in the big leagues. The 25-year-old lefty should get another look over the final six weeks of the season, but the Guardians are going to use his roster spot to fortify their relief corps for now.

While he went through some periods of nibbling, Cantillo did almost everything right in this start. He mixed his fastball, curveball, changeup, and slider beautifully against hitters from each side of the plate to force 13 total swings-and-misses while allowing just two hard-hit balls. The only run he did allow came via a single and three walks when he was being a bit too careful with the bottom of the Braves’ order. Still, he’s looked like a capable major league started over the last few weeks and is scheduled to face the Diamondbacks next time out.

Cantillo struck out three and walked two while throwing 50 of his 82 pitches for strikes. An infield single chased him from the game in the sixth inning when the tying run was coming to the plate. On the day, Cantillo registered a 26 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW while dominating with his changeup. His velocity has not come back the way fantasy managers may have wanted, but he can make up for that with tremendous extension, and his secondary pitches are getting more consistent. He’s a decent streaming option next week against the Braves.

Cantillo gave up six hits, walked two and struck out nine. This start was actually a positive for the 25-year-old left-hander. Cantillo kept his walks down with less than three walks for just the second time in his last six starts. He also punched out nine in a great matchup against what’s left of the Twins’ lineup after the trade deadline purge. Cantillo has a 4.37 ERA and 72/30 K/BB ratio in 55 2/3 innings this year. He’s lined up to face the White Sox on the road next weekend.

Cantillo gave up three hits, walked four and struck out four. The 25-year-old left-hander has struck out at least four batters in seven of his last eight games. Unfortunately, he’s also walked at least three batters in four of his last five games. Cantillo’s walk issues are more pronounced now that he’s being used as a starting pitcher and severely limiting his upside in that regard. He’s lined up to face the Twins at home next weekend.

Cantillo surrendered two hits, walked four and struck out five in moving to 2-0 with a 3.91 ERA. The control issues aren’t going anywhere, but that he’s struck out 23 in 17 2/3 innings over four starts since moving into the rotation is encouraging. He’ll face the Royals on Sunday.

Cantillo gave up seven hits, walked none and struck out six. The 25-year-old left-hander has struck out at least five batters in each of his last three starts. With Luis Ortiz still in gambling investigation limbo, it’s possible that Cantillo could remain in the rotation for a while, giving him value in AL-Only leagues. He’ll take a 4.17 ERA and 54/20 K/BB ratio in 41 innings into the All-Star break.

The 25-year-old southpaw piled up seven strikeouts on the evening while issuing three free passes. The Astros scratched out a run against him in the opening inning on a sacrifice fly, then Cantillo exited after allowing the first two batters to reach in the fifth inning — and they both ultimately came around to score. He got 15 whiffs on 84 pitches on the night, posting a strong CSW of 36 percent. He now holds a 3.79 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and a 48/20 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings with the Guardians this season. He’ll finish out the first half on Sunday against the White Sox in Chicago.

The 25-year-old southpaw walked three batters on the night while giving up a pair of singles. He needed 68 pitches (39 strikes) to record 10 outs though, which led to his early exit from the ballgame. Cantillo got 10 whiffs in the ballgame while posting a CSW of 26 percent. With no immediate end in sight to the Luis Ortiz saga, it’s possible that Cantillo could stick around to make another start for the Guardians next Tuesday against the Astros in Houston.

The 25-year-old left-hander will start in place of Luis Ortiz on Thursday after the right-hander was placed on the restricted list. Cantillo has done a decent job out of the Guardians’ bullpen this season — posting a 3.81 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 36/14 K/BB ratio over 28 1/3 innings — before he was sent down at the end of May to get stretched back out as a starter. It’s unclear how many innings he’ll handle against the Cubs on Thursday but Doug Nikhazy was promoted as well to add some length to the Guardians’ bullpen.

Cantillo is a starter by trade but opened this season in the Guardians’ bullpen and posted a 3.81 ERA over 28 1/3 innings in 21 appearances. He was sent down to Triple-A Columbus to get stretched back out as a starter. He has started four games and posted a 3.86 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 15/4 K/BB. However, he has thrown just 11 2/3 innings and hasn’t made it out of the fourth inning in any of those. It seems like five innings might be the max we can expect from Cantillo early on, which keeps him off fantasy radars for now.

The left-hander also struck out five and walked one in the outing. Cantillo was sent down to the minors to be stretched out as a starter. He threw 62 pitches in this one, 42 for strikes, so he should be pushed over 70 pitches in his next outing.

Cantillo heads back to the minors with reliever Hunter Gaddis back from the bereavement list ahead of Tuesday’s contest against the Dodgers. The 25-year-old southpaw has posted a strong 3.81 ERA across 28 1/3 innings (21 appearances) this season. He wasn’t going to be available for a few days after tossing three innings during Monday’s series opener, but he’ll be back relatively soon.

Cantillo had a 2.35 ERA in 15 1/3 innings out of the bullpen, though that was largely because five of the nine runs he’d allowed were unearned. One imagines the Guardians will stretch him back out now to have him available as a rotation alternative. He threw a season-high 55 pitches on Sunday, so he wasn’t going to be available for a couple of days anyway.
