Castro will make his Cubs debut on Saturday afternoon with Nico Hoerner shifting over to cover shortstop with Dansby Swanson drawing a rare day off. The widely-held expectation is that Castro will spend the majority of the final two months at the hot corner over rookie Matt Shaw, who has shown some real signs of life recently, but might not be ready to play everyday on a true title contender.

The versatile 28-year-old will add quality depth and versatility to the Cubs’ offense. Castro has appeared at every defensive position this season except for first base and catcher while hitting .245/.335/.407 with 10 homers, 27 RBI and nine stolen bases. His fantasy value will take a bit of a hit with the move, as he’ll function in more of a utility role than being an everyday player for the Cubs.

The Twins are in the midst of an everything must go sale on Thursday and Castro becomes the latest departure. The versatile 28-year-old has hit .245/.335/.407 with 10 homers, 27 RBI and nine stolen bases across 344 plate appearances on the season. Look for him to step into a super-utility role as opposed to seeing everyday action with the Cubs.

Apparently, the Twins were just trying to get Castro an ovation coming off the field when they pulled him in the ninth. Castro remains extremely likely to be traded prior to Thursday’s deadline.

It was an 8-1 game, but this very much looks like a trade situation, as Castro took the field and then was lifted. The Mariners and Astros are among the teams reported to be interested in Castro. His exit would open up a spot for Luke Keaschall to rejoin the Twins, though maybe not immediately.

Eugenio Suárez is the Mariners’ preferred target, but the competition there is strong, and Castro would be a more flexible fallback option for a team with question marks at both second and third. The Mariners could also try to pull off a bigger deal with either jhoan Duran or Griffin Jax involved.

The Astros are on the hunt for a left-handed bat to add to their lineup and Castro seems like an attractive target that would also provide ample versatility. Rome notes that he’s unsure how in-depth the talks between the two clubs have been on the matter thus far. Castro, 28, has hit .254/.344/.425 with 10 homers, 27 RBI and eight stolen bases in 327 plate appearances for the Twins this season.

Castro’s first two hits were soft singles, but then he hit the second of back-to-back homers with Byron Buxton in the seventh. It was his ninth homer, and it gave him his second three-RBI game of the year. He’s batting an impressive .269/.361/.442 in 286 plate appearances.

Gleeman isn’t convinced that the Twins will definitely be “sellers” at the deadline, but he suggests that Castro would be the most likely player dealt if they do indeed decide to trade away players at the deadline. “He’s a switch hitter with at least 50 career starts at seven positions, and he’s cheap, with less than $3 million left on his deal.” Castro would likely be dealt to a team where he fills a utility role as a versatile bench piece, but if he did leave Minnesota it would also open up more playing time for Brooks Lee. Or even Luke Keaschall when he’s ready to return from the IL.

This was a big game for Castro after a cold few weeks. He helped push across his squad’s first inning run, scored after smoking a lead-off double in the fourth and then chipped in another single in the ninth. All three of those knocks were hit at least 101 mph as Castro has enjoyed one of his best offensive seasons to date with a .798 OPS to this point. Also, he’s now regularly hitting in the heart of their order and will have plenty of chances as a run producer moving forward.

Castro is at third base and batting third on Wednesday night. The versatile 28-year-old was able to come off the bench during Tuesday’s contest, going 0-for-2 in the process. He’s back in the lineup for the first time in three games due to right wrist soreness.

Castro, who has missed three starts with a sore right wrist, pinch-hit for Kody Clemens in the sixth and stayed in to play second base afterwards. It’s possible he’ll be back in the starting lineup against George Kirby on Wednesday.

Castro remains on the bench for the third consecutive contest after being scratched from Sunday’s lineup with right wrist soreness. The Twins have the positional depth across several spots to continue absorbing his absence for at least a couple additional contests. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. There’s been no indication that he’ll require a trip to the injured list, but the odds steadily increase the longer he remains out of the lineup.

It sounds like a precautionary move since Castro was in Sunday’s original lineup. The versatile 28-year-old will presumably undergo further evaluation to determine the appropriate level of concern regarding the issue. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. It’ll be rookie DaShawn Keirsey Jr. taking over in left field on Sunday afternoon in his absence.

It’s unclear what the reason for the move is at the moment. Castro was in Sunday’s original lineup in left field and batting third. He’s been replaced by rookie outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. There should be an update on his status shortly if the decision winds up being injury-related.

Castro had hit four home runs in his last nine games entering play Sunday, but went with more of a contact approach against the Blue Jays as all three of his hits were singles. The 28-year-old utility man’s average is up to .268 with a .797 OPS and 27 runs scored on the year.

Castro doubled his homer total during Friday’s come-from-behind win for the Twins. he took Bryan Woo deep in the seventh to make it a 4-3 game, and he hit a two-run shot in the ninth off Andrés Muñoz to make it a 6-5 contest. Castro provides much more value to the Twins than fantasy players because of his versatility, but the scarce few that roster Castro were rewarded with a strong game Friday.

Castro returns to Minnesota’s lineup at second base and batting ninth after sitting out a pair of games over the weekend due to a right knee contusion. The versatile 28-year-old figures to split time between a variety of defensive spots in the coming days for the injury-depleted Twins, who saw their 13-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday at the hands of the Brewers.

Castro will miss his second straight contest following an early exit from Friday’s game with a right knee contusion. The versatile 28-year-old will presumably undergo further evaluation and treatment before the Twins — who are riding a 13-game winning streak entering Sunday’s showdown in Milwaukee — make a decision on his status ahead of Monday’s series opener against the division-rival Guardians.

It’s encouraging to hear that it’s just a bruise and that Castro isn’t dealing with anything more serious after fouling a ball off of his knee on Friday night. He’s considered day-to-day and should return to the Twins’ lineup at some point before the weekend is through.

The versatile 28-year-old remained in the game for a few innings after fouling a pitch off of his knee, but ultimately the decision was made to pull him from the game. He’ll likely head for further evaluation to determine whether or not there’s any structural damage. Look for the Twins to provide an update on Castro’s status after the game.

Castro started 18 of the Twins’ first 19 games before going down with a strained oblique, and though he wasn’t very good while hitting .227/.292/.364, he seems likely to remain a regular for now in light of Edouard Julien’s demotion. He should offer some value in deeper mixed leagues.

Castro has missed five straight games, so the move is retroactive to April 21. There’s no guarantee that Castro comes off the IL when he’s first eligible, but this will move up the timeline a few days. Mickey Gasper was recalled in a corresponding move, but it will likely be Edouard Julien and Brooks Lee getting regular starts while Castro is out.

Castro left a game on April 16th with an oblique injury and has not appeared in a game since. The Twins have not put him on the IL, which suggests that he could be returning any day now, but he’ll now miss his sixth straight game. In that time, Edouard Julien has cemented himself as the starting second baseman, and Brooks Lee has been filling in at third base. If Castro does return soon, that would likely mean that Lee would head to the bench.

It’ll be Brooks Lee at the hot corner, Edouard Julien at the keystone and rookie Luke Keashall at DH on Tuesday night at Target Field with Castro still out nursing a right oblique issue. There’s been zero indication that the versatile speedster will require a trip to the injured list, especially since the Twins have the extra infield depth to keep him on the bench for now.

Castro will take a seat for the third consecutive contest as he continues to deal with a lingering right oblique issue. There’s been no indication that he’ll require a trip to the injured list and the Twins are apparently going to give him as much time as he needs to put the issue to bed. Fantasy managers should still consider him day-to-day for now.
