Díaz’ save was his 28th of the year. The 31-year-old right-hander pitched around a single to record a scoreless inning. Díaz lowered his ERA to 1.71 on the year. Entrenched as the Mets’ closer, he’s one of the top closers in fantasy.

The Mets wasted no time going to Díaz after taking a two-run lead in the top of the eighth, and it quickly proved to be the right call. He did throw 27 pitches while working for the third time in four days, so if this were June, he’d likely be down Wednesday. Since it’s not June and every win is of the utmost importance, he’ll probably be available for one inning tomorrow.

Simply put, Díaz is an adrenaline junkie. Ke’Bryan Hayes hit a single to start the ninth and then Díaz walked the next two batters to load the bases with no one out in a one-run game. Then, some weird things began to happen. Díaz managed to strike out Noelvi Marte after catcher Francisco Alvarez stopped the game for a minute to adjust his hat and mask. Elly De La Cruz was up next and Díaz stopped the game for nearly five minutes because one of his cleats broke and he had to change his shoes. On the mound this happened. In the middle of an at-bat with the go-ahead run on second base in the middle of a pennant race. Only the Mets. Díaz struck out De La Cruz and then had to race Gavin Lux to first base on play where Luisangel Acuña made a gorgeous stop in the hole and threw a strike to Díaz who was in a dead sprint to the bag. Just another save in the box score.

Diaz needed just 11 pitches (10 of them strikes) and struck out a pair to finish off the Mets’ 10-8 victory. It was an encouraging performance after a rough showing against the Marlins on Saturday. Diaz had just one save in all of August, so fantasy managers will have to hope that he’s starting September off right.

Acquiring Ryan Helsley was supposed to relieve some of the pressure on Díaz, but it’s instead added to it, and Díaz was needed to enter in the eighth after Helsley gave up a game-tying homer tonight. Díaz proved up to the task, striking out Brandon Marsh and Trea Turner with the go-ahead run on base and then keeping the score tied in the ninth before the Mets walked it off in the bottom of the frame. Díaz threw a reasonable 22 pitches tonight and had the previous two days off, so he might be available to close Wednesday.

Díaz took the mound in the top of the eighth with a three-run lead to face the top of the Seattle lineup. He worked around a base hit and returned to close things out in the ninth. Eugenio Suárez took him deep for a solo homer before Díaz held on to record the save with three strikeouts. The 31-year-old right-hander has converted 24 saves with a 1.69 ERA across 48 innings.

Diaz and Ryan Helsley combined to blow this game for the Mets. Helsley entered with a one-run lead in the eighth inning and allowed a run, blowing the save. Diaz came in to escape a jam in the eighth inning, which kept the game tied, before he allowed a walk-off home run to Isaac Collins in the ninth inning. With the Mets’ bullpen unable to hold the lead Sunday, the Mets were swept by the Brewers.

It wasn’t the smoothest of outings for the 31-year-old stopper as he allowed a one-out walk to Jung Hoo Lee then plunked Heliot Ramos and walked Rafael Devers to load the bases. Not to worry though, as Díaz rebounded to strike out Willy Adames on three pitches before retiring Matt Chapman on strikes to end it. On the season, he has now converted 23 of his first 25 save chances on the season while registering a brilliant 1.48 ERA.

Díaz gave up a double to Jung Hoo Lee, but kept Lee from advancing any further while picking up a strikeout and not issuing a walk. His ERA is now 1.51 on the season, and he’s picked up 22 saves on the year. Díaz only needed 14 pitches to get through the inning, so he has a chance to pitch again Sunday if necessary.

Díaz came on with two outs and one on in the eighth and hit Taylor Ward to bring the tying run to the plate. He then threw six pitches to Luis Rengifo. None of them were in the strike zone or were swung at by Rengifo. Still, Díaz was credited with a strikeout by Erich Bacchus anyway, which resulted in Angels interim manager Ray Montgomery getting tossed. The ninth also started eventfully, as Díaz hit Chris Taylor in the helmet with his first pitch of the frame. Thankfully, Taylor was okay, and Díaz retired three in a row from there. It’s his 21st save.

Diaz entered the game with two outs in the eighth inning, looking for a four-out save. The Reds tied the game when Diaz hit Spencer Steer with the bases-loaded. The Mets got the run back in the top of the ninth inning, putting Diaz in line for his fifth win of the season. He has a 1.64 ERA and the blown save was just his second blown save of the year.

Díaz was called upon to preserve a one-run lead with the potential tying run already on-base in the top of the ninth inning and was unable to slam the door. He got Jazz Chisholm Jr. to ground out, thanks to a phenomenal play by Atlanta first baseman Matt Olson, but surrendered a game-tying infield single to ensuing batter Steven Kwan. Most of the blame for the blown save goes to Padres closer Robert Suarez, who opened the frame with a two-run lead and only recorded one out before being pulled.

Díaz, coming off three days without an appearance, took the mound with a one-run lead in the eighth and worked a two-inning save with one strikeout to secure the win for the Mets. The 31-year-old right-hander is up to 19 saves with an outstanding 1.66 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, and a 55/13 K/BB ratio across 38 innings.

Díaz fanned two of the three batters he faced. Christian Yelich singled, but he was then caught stealing for the middle out. It’s Díaz’s 18th save in 19 chances. He also got one Wednesday, so he might be down against the Yankees on Friday; he’s yet to work on three straight days this season. If Díaz is off, then Ryne Stanek, who would also be pitching for a third straight day, or Reed Garrett might close.

The Mets called upon Díaz with two on and two out in the eighth inning with the tying run at the plate. After falling behind Jake Bauers, he came back to strike him out. Then, he opened the ninth inning with two more strikeouts and eventually secured his 17th save of the season. Hopefully the Mets can start winning some games again so Díaz can get more save opportunities moving forward.

The Mets entered the ninth inning with a six-run lead, so it was a shock that Díaz had to enter this game at all. Yet, they let the Braves rally and called on Díaz to quell the threat. He threw just three pitches to secure his 16th save of the season.

It didn’t appear Díaz was going to be necessary after the Mets took a four-run lead into the ninth, but Ryne Stanek faltered — faltered is an understatement — while giving up three runs without recording an out. Díaz did allow a hit and a walk, but he was able to clean up the mess and pick up his 15th save while lowering his ERA to 2.22. The 31-year-old threw 19 pitches, so it’s possible he won’t be available Friday against the Rays.

Coming off his first blown save of the season last time out against the Dodgers, Díaz slammed the door shut on the Rockies here. He’s now allowed just one earned run across 14 1/3 innings since the beginning of May and has been one of the most dominant relief pitchers in baseball after a shaky stretch to begin the season.

Díaz gave up a sacrifice fly to Shohei Ohtani that caused him to blow his first save of 2025. Fantasy managers take a hit in the ERA as well, but they at least get a win since the Mets scored two in the next frame, with Jose Butto getting a two-out save in the 10th. Diaz did strike out two as well, and his ERA remains a very solid 2.49.

Díaz has struck out 10 of the 15 batters he’s faced in his last four appearances. The single he gave up to Sam Hilliard today was the first hit he’d allowed since May 5. He pitched 9 1/3 hitless innings in his previous nine appearances.

Díaz is in the midst of a special run right now. He hasn’t allowed a hit across his last nine appearances that has spanned nine and one third innings with 12 strikeouts and four walks. His command has snapped back into place and his average fastball velocity has ticked back above 97 mph. He should be trusted as one of the best closers in baseball.

Díaz got the call to work a tie ballgame during his fourth relief outing in the last six days. The 31-year-old stopper issued one walk, but needed just 11 pitches (five strikes) to spin a scoreless frame. He’s reeled off 11 consecutive scoreless appearances since April 26. There will be ebbs and flows with Díaz over time, but he’s remained an elite fantasy stopper for nearly a decade at this point.

Díaz was able to generate four swings and misses among his 16 pitches in an outing that reminded of when he was as dominant as any reliever in the sport. That’s not to say this version is bad; he now has a 2.53 ERA and 11 saves on the season. There’s a chance Díaz won’t be available Sunday after picking up the four-out save, but fantasy managers should settle for these results over the weekend. You can do a lot worse.

That was the first save for Díaz since April 26. He didn’t allow a hit, didn’t issue a walk, and authored one strikeout while picking up his eighth save of the 2025 campaign. The Díaz experience can be filled with highs and lows, but more often than not, the job gets done. He should continue to lower his 3.86 ERA over the summer months.

Díaz bounced back nicely after leaving Wednesday’s game with a hip cramp. He took over in the ninth with a two-run lead and worked around a walk, striking out the side for his seventh save of the season. The 31-year-old right-hander has struck out multiple batters in each of his last six outings.

Díaz was called upon to work the final frame after Max Kranick got into trouble to open the frame. He got Cal Stevenson to fly out before surrendering a three-run homer to ensuing batter Bryson Stott, which cut New York’s lead to just one run. He locked in immediately afterwards, striking out Trea Turner and Bryce Harper to preserve the victory. It’s been a rollercoaster ride for fantasy managers this season, but Díaz is still capable of putting together stretches where he looks like one of the best closers in baseball.

Díaz was summoned in the ninth inning to close out the game with a comfortable three-run lead. He shut the door on St. Louis with two strikeouts in a clean inning for his fifth save of the season. It was the third straight multi-strikeout outing with no runs allowed for the 31-year-old right-hander.
