The injury potentially eliminates the possibility of Bazzana joining Cleveland’s postseason roster. There should be an update on the severity of the issue at some point in the coming days. The 23-year-old top prospect was in the midst of an extended hot streak at the Triple-A level, batting .290 with four homers in nine games since the start of September.

The 36-year-old backstop was hit on a backswing during Thursday’s ballgame. He’ll be shelved until he can work his way through the concussion protocol. Chad Wallach was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to take his place on the Halos’ active roster.

The 36-year-old backstop made the most of his only at-bat in the ballgame, delivering an RBI double off of Osvaldo Bido that broke a 3-3 tie and proved to be the difference in the ballgame. On the season, he’s hitting .201/.260/.349 with six homers and 21 RBI in 227 plate appearances.

Bazzana could be an option for Cleveland heading into the postseason as he continues to swing a hot bat on the doorstep of the majors. The first-overall pick from the 2024 MLB Draft notched his first multi-homer performance in this one and has gone 10-for-32 with five extra-base hits, including three home runs, over his last eight games at the Triple-A level.

The two-run homer in a 3-3 game with Bazzana’s first in 20 games since moving up to Columbus. The 2024 No. 1 overall pick is batting .214/.415/.357 in 95 plate appearances. That breaks down as 15 hits and 23 walks. He previously hit .256/.364/.426 with five homers in 228 plate appearances in Double-a.

The top-overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, Bazzana has quietly put himself in the mix for a late-season call-up to Cleveland, reaching base safely in seven of eight contests since arriving at the Triple-A level. The 22-year-old second baseman would provide a jolt for the Guardians if they decide to give him a taste of the majors at some point during the final five weeks. He’s probably not a fantasy superstar, but he does a little bit of everything well and will be eligible at one of the weakest position groups in the landscape.

The top overall pick from the 2024 draft hit .262/.371/.435 with five homers, 23 RBI, nine stolen bases and a 53/29 K/BB ratio over 224 plate appearances in 50 games at Double-A Akron. He’s now just one step away from the big leagues.

Last year’s number one overall pick is working his way back from an oblique injury that sent him to the IL in late May. His one hit on Tuesday was a double off rehabbing Blake Snell, which is not a bad way to get your day started. Bazzana should return to Double-A in short order and could end the season with a few games at Triple-A if he continues his strong performance from before his injury.

With the score tied at 5-5 in the ninth inning, d’Arnaud singled to left to give the Angels the win after coming off the bench. The 36-year-old is hitting a disappointing .234/.279/.423 on the year, but he’ll be thought of fondly for at least a day after the walk-off knock.

In a battle of players who don’t capitalize the first letters of their last names, d’Arnaud took Jacob deGrom deep in the second inning to give the Angels a 3-2 lead. He also doubled in a run in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4. The first season with the Halos for d’Arnaud has been a mixed bag at best, as he’s slashing .220/.268/.394 with five homers and 15 RBI.

With the Angels down in a 1-0 game in the eighth inning, d’Arnaud pinch hit to lead off the inning and took T.J. McFarland deep for a game-tying solo homer. The 36-year-old backstop has played sparingly, hitting .234/.287/.394 with three homers and seven RBI across 101 plate appearances.

With the Angels trailing 3-1, d’Arnaud smoked a two-run homer into the left-field bleachers off Bryce Miller to tie things up. The 36-year-old veteran backstop has homered just twice with six RBI in 2025, but that’s over a relatively small sample of 90 at-bats. It seems likely d’Arnaud will be in the lineup more often than not going forward, and that makes him worth consideration if only because of his positional eligibility.

The 36-year-old backstop accounted for the Angels’ only extra-base hit of the ballgame with his two-out ground-rule double off of Cabrera in the second inning. As a team, the Halos were only able to muster three total hits in the pitiful offensive performance. On the season, d’Arnaud is now hitting .200/.263/.314 with one homer and four RBI in his first 76 plate appearances.

The injury doesn’t necessarily rule out Bazzana reaching the majors this season, but it does mean it’s a whole lot less likely to happen. The 22-year-old Bazzana was hitting .252/.362/.433 with four homers and eight steals in 33 games for Double-A Akron.

The Angels led 4-1 for most of the ballgame, but that lead was erased when Will Smith clobbered a two-out, three-run homer in the seventh inning. The 36-year-old backstop answered right back in the next half inning, victimizing Anthony Banda for a 401-foot (104.5 mph EV) solo shot that put the Halos ahead to stay. That blast was his first home run of the 2025 season. He finished the afternoon 2-for-3 plus a walk and is now hitting .200/.250/.317 with three RBI in his first 64 plate appearances.

Bazzana is hitting just .227 with a pedestrian .726 OPS in his first extended taste of the upper minors. His ninth-inning solo shot on Saturday was his second round-tripper in his last five games. The first-overall pick from the 2024 MLB Draft has a decent shot at making it to Cleveland before the regular season wraps up.
