In a battle of players who don’t capitalize the first letters of their last names, d’Arnaud took Jacob deGrom deep in the second inning to give the Angels a 3-2 lead. He also doubled in a run in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4. The first season with the Halos for d’Arnaud has been a mixed bag at best, as he’s slashing .220/.268/.394 with five homers and 15 RBI.

Schanuel laid off an offering from Hoby Milner with the ducks full to walk in a run and give the Angels the win. The 23-year-old has been so-so in 2025 for the Angels with a slash of .261/.354/.391, and he’s now driven in 36 runs over the first 90 games of the campaign. He helps the Angels a lot more than he helps fantasy teams.

In a battle of All-Star hurlers, both Kikuchi and Jacob deGrom were not terribly effective. They combined to go 10 innings while allowing seven runs, and both struggled early. In Kikuchi’s case, he allowed a two-run homer to Corey Seager in first, and two more runs were charged to the southpaw in the third. Kikuchi still has a strong 3.02 ERA, and he’ll get another chance to lower that number against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Joe, who was out with hand, foot and mouth disease, will probably see some time in right field against lefties, though he’s been a liability in that role so far. He’s hit .207/.273/.276 in 66 plate appearances this season.

Eaton gets the nod over top prospect Marcelo Mayer at the hot corner, and also receives his first shot in the leadoff spot to face Nationals lefty Mitchell Parker with Jarren Duran dropped to seventh in the order.
