There was some concern a couple months ago that Festa could be dealing with thoracic outlet syndrome, but it sounds like he’ll been cleared to resume throwing again and have a relatively normal offseason. The 25-year-old righty hit the injured list with shoulder inflammation in late July and never made it back to Minnesota before the year wrapped up. It’s an extremely encouraging update considering how murky his status was at the conclusion of the regular season.

Festa was shut down after a setback during his rehab from shoulder inflammation, and Dr. Meister — one of the leading arm experts in the industry — believe that TOC is the cause. If that is the case, Festa could be looking at a long recovery, and his 2026 season is in jeopardy. The right-hander has been referred to another doctor, and more information on his status for the coming season should be available after that visit.

The big concern here is that Festa, who is scheduled to visit specialist Dr. Keith Meister in the coming days, could be in jeopardy of missing time next season if he winds up requiring a shoulder procedure, which typically results in an extended absence, even in a best-case scenario. There should be a clearer outlook on his future at some point in the next few days.

Festa, on the IL with shoulder inflammation, struck out five and walked three while throwing 48 pitches. He could join the Twins rotation after one more start.

The 25-year-old hurler has been sidelined since just after the All-Star break due to inflammation in his pitching shoulder. Given how long he has been shelved for, he’ll probably require at least two rehab outings before he’s an option to help out the Twins at the big league level.

Festa allowed three homers in his loss to the Dodgers on Monday, and it’s possible the shoulder issues played a factor. He’ll be out through the rest of July, and the Twins should provide a timeline for a potential return in the coming days, if not sooner.

Festa gave up three homers in the outing; the first being a two-run homer to Shohei Ohtani in the first inning. The other two roundtrippers were allowed to Will Smith, and those dingers accounted for all four runs allowed. He struck out five while issuing one walk in an outing that was better than the box score might suggest. Festa will take on the Nationals on Sunday.

This game started out great for Festa when he retired the first eight hitters he faced. Then, things got a little hairy in the fourth inning when the Cubs loaded the bases and wound up bringing two runs home. Yet, that ‘rally’ was more chaotic than worrisome as Kyle Tucker hit a well-placed single, then Festa walked the next two batters. The Cubs scored two runs on ground balls that didn’t leave the infield. That was all he’d give up in a strong start against the highest-scoring offense in the league.

Festa’s stuff was good, as he generated 15 swings and misses on his pitches during his four frames. His command was not, as he gave up a two-run homer to Agustin Ramirez and he missed his spots several times throughout the contest. It’s still nice to see him missing bats, however, and he was better than this line indicates. He’ll take a 5.49 ERA into a scheduled start Wednesday against the Cubs.

The 25-year-old hurler racked up six strikeouts on the evening and didn’t allow a base on balls. The only real threat against him came in the second inning as he plunked Spencer Torkelson and allowed a two-out single to Dillon Dingler, but Festa got Parker Meadows on a comebacker to silence the rally. He generated nine whiffs on 75 pitches on the night — five of them on his slider — while posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll see if he can carry over the momentum from this fine outing when he brings a 5.40 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and a 38/15 K/BB ratio (36 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Marlins in Miami.

Festa gave up 12 hits, walked three and struck out three. The 25-year-old right-hander followed opener Danny Coulombe, who allowed one run in the first inning. Festa allowed eight runs before he was finally removed in the sixth inning. His 96 pitches helped save some bullpen usage, though the Twins still ended up using five relief pitchers if you include Coulombe. That doesn’t do much for fantasy managers hoping Festa would turn his season around as his ERA is now up to 6.39 on the year. He’s best left on fantasy benches next weekend against the Tigers on the road.

Festa faced just one over the minimum through three, but the fourth featured two walks and then a two-run double from Will Benson. That should have been the end of it; Festa rebounded to strike out Spencer Steer, only for Ryan Jeffers to have the ball, which was right down the middle, go off his glove. Steer reached on the passed ball, and a single and a HBP followed, causing Festa to be removed. Festa should remain in the rotation and face the Brewers on Sunday.

This game did not start out well for Festa. Marcus Semien hit a long home run to open the scoring in the second inning and then Josh Smith laced a run-scoring double in the following frame with the heart of the Rangers’ order due up. Yet, he tightened up from that moment on and didn’t allow another hit for the rest of his outing. Each of his three main pitches – his changeup, fastball, and slider – forced at least four swings-and-misses with his downright filthy changeup leading the way with seven. Most importantly, this was the first time he completed five innings this season and just the second time he’s completed six in his career. He’s lined up for a two-start week coming up against the Reds on the road and then Brewers at home.

Festa struck out six and generated 12 whiffs, but the 11 balls in play against him produced three homers. He had previously allowed a total of two homers, both in Triple-A, over the course of his three major league and six minor league starts this season. We still like Festa’s chances of offering some mixed-league value while Pablo López is out. He’s slated to pitch at home against the Rangers next time out.

This seems to point to Festa getting the call Sunday against the Blue Jays to take Pablo López’s place after López left Tuesday against the Athletics with shoulder tightness. Festa is one of the top young arms in the Minnesota system, and he’s pitched well with a 1.38 ERA in his three starts with the Twins in 2025. He’s worthy of streaming consideration, assuming he does make that start, of course.

Festa was in his second start back after missing two turns earlier this month with shoulder inflammation. With a 2.83 ERA and a 34/4 K/BB in 28 2/3 innings in Triple-A, he should be the choice next time the Twins need someone for their rotation.

Fry is 1-for-8 in his two games at Triple-A since having his rehab moved earlier this week. He has also yet to play the field in any of his eight rehab games, starting each of them at designated hitter. With Kyle Manzardo and Carlos Santana sharing first base and DH duties at the big league level, Fry is going to need to start playing the field somewhere for us to view him as anything more than a designated hitter against left-handed pitchers at the big league level.

Festa also struck out seven and didn’t walk a single batter while throwing 50 of his 72 pitches for strikes. Minnesota still seems to want to limit how deep Festa pitches into games, but at this point, it may just be to save his pitches for later in the season. He and Zebby Matthews will continue to produce at Triple-A until Minnesota deems them worthy of regular spots in the MLB rotation.

Festa went just four innings against the White Sox on Wednesday and has not pitched five innings in any of his three starts for the Twins this season. Part of that is certainly the Twins removing him early from games, but Festa has struggled enough with command to run up pitch counts in the mid-70s before he can get through five innings. The 25-year-old has plenty of talent, but it’s concerning enough for fantasy managers that Minnesota doesn’t seem to trust Festa to pitch deep into games. There’s no corresponding move announced yet, but Pablo López should be called up on Friday.

Again it wasn’t easy for Festa, not even against the White Sox. He didn’t have a single clean inning and consistently struggled to put hitters away until he finally hit a wall in the fifth and was pulled. It’s been the exact same story in all three of his starts this season, not making it through the fifth inning. While it’s usually his out-pitch, he wasn’t able to command his slider here and the White Sox hitters routinely laid off it. His stuff is objectively good, but his repertoire isn’t deep enough for one pitch to not be working and he has little fantasy value if he can’t find a way to complete five innings and qualify for a win at some point. His next is scheduled to come against the Guardians which should be the start of a two-start week where he’ll also face the Red Sox.

Festa was pulled after two singles, a strikeout and then a hit by pitch opened the fifth. Danny Coulombe replaced him then and got Juan Soto to hit into an inning-ending double play, keeping the game scoreless. Festa struck out six and walked one while throwing 76 pitches. Those rostering him were probably annoyed with the quick hook, especially after the Twins could have put him in line for the win by scoring in the bottom of the fifth, but it really did seem like the right call. Festa will face the White Sox next, making him a pretty good streaming play.

Festa struck out four batters on the evening while allowing only one free pass. The only run that the Tigers scratched out against him came on a two-out single by Gleyber Torres on which Matt Wallner overthrew the third baseman allowing Dillon Dingler to score. The 25-year-old right-hander got nine whiffs on 64 pitches in the ballgame, registering a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll look to build off of this strong first start when he takes on the Braves in Atlanta on Friday.
