The procedural move frees up a spot on Atlanta’s 40-man roster to bring in former pitching prospect Carson Ragsdale off waivers from the Orioles. The 30-year-old outfielder hit the injured list with a season-ending oblique strain earlier this week.

Fraley has played sparingly for Atlanta since being claimed off waivers from the Reds back in mid-August, getting into just nine contests. The 30-year-old platoon outfielder is presumably on the shelf for the rest of the season with only two weeks of action left.

Fraley entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Eli White in the seventh inning and singled into left field, though he was left stranded there. He then reached on an infield single to start the ninth inning and rode home on Drake Baldwin’s game-winning blast. For the season, the 30-year-old outfielder is now hitting .249/.342/.401 with six homers, 23 RBI and four stolen bases in 202 plate appearances between the Reds and Braves.

Fraley won’t officially join Atlanta’s active roster until Friday’s series opener against the Mets. The 30-year-old makes plenty of sense as a strong-side platoon outfield option moving forward. He was unexpected jettisoned over the weekend by the Reds after slashing .232/.332/.387 with six homers and four steals in 67 games.

This qualifies as a bit of a surprise. Cincinnati has elected to move on from Fraley, who hasn’t started in eight consecutive games since August 8. The 30-year-old platoon outfielder has had a down year at the plate, slashing .232/.332/.387 with six homers and four steals in 67 games. There figures to be some interest on waivers since he makes sense in a reserve role as a righty-mashing specialist.

Fraley is batting .364/.417/.500 since the break, but this is the second time in four games he’s sat against a right-hander. We can understand the Reds wanting to get Benson, who is 0-for-8 since the break, some action, but why do it at the expense of the team’s hottest hitter and a guy who already gets plenty of time off against lefties anyway?

It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the oft-injured 30-year-old outfielder with right-hander Zack Littell toeing the slab for the Rays. Will Benson will start in his place in right field and will bat eighth for the Reds on Friday evening in Cincinnati.

Fraley was in the lineup for the first time since coming off the injured list a week ago. That he sat against back-to-back lefties was expected, but he also took a seat in favor of Will Benson in the Reds’ previous game against a right-hander. Today, he got the nod over Benson versus Clay Holmes. That could be a day-by-day decision for the Reds, though putting the slumping Gavin Lux on the bench is also an option.

Fraley returns to Cincinnati’s crowded position player mix ahead of Saturday’s game against the Rockies after missing just over two weeks recovering from a shoulder strain. The 30-year-old on-base machine figures to play regularly against right-handed pitching in a platoon role.

Fraley was found to have a tear in his right shoulder, but since it’s not his throwing shoulder, he thinks he can play through it and have surgery after the season. He’ll probably be activated as soon as Thursday or Friday, which could lead to a demotion for Connor Joe or Christian Encarnacion-Strand.

Fraley will rehab during the team’s upcoming road trip and plans to play through the injury. He is expected to have surgery after the season. Fraley is not a recommended play in shallow fantasy leagues in 2025 as he plays through the injury.

Fraley will hit the injured list and be replaced on the active roster — and in the lineup — by Austin Hays, with Hays activated off the injured list from his foot injury. There should be an update on how much time Fraley is going to miss in the coming days.

The homer was Fraley’s fifth in 118 plate appearances this season. That matches his total from 382 plate appearances last year. Unfortunately, his .218 average this year pales in comparison to last year’s .277 mark, so he has pretty much the same OPS now — .727 — as his .716 in 2024. As a strict platoon guy hitting towards the bottom of the order, Fraley isn’t an option in mixed leagues, even if he does occasionally intrigue with his homer and steal potential.

Fraley clobbered his fourth big fly of the season, taking Cubs starter Colin Rea deep in the sixth inning of his return from the injured list after missing three weeks due to a calf issue. The 30-year-old figures to eat into Will Benson’s playing time now that he’s back in the fold, but there should be plenty of at-bats to go around with Austin Hays (foot) landing on the shelf.

Because of Will Benson’s success as the right fielder against right-handers, Fraley wasn’t really missed during his three-week absence due to a calf injury. It seemed like he’d be in line for less playing time after returning, but since Austin Hays is hurt now, Fraley should stay in the lineup against right-handers. He hit .205/.319/.359 in 91 plate appearances before going down.

Fraley heads to the shelf for some extra rest and recovery time following a four-game absence due to a lingering calf issue. It doesn’t sound like he’s facing an extended absence, but the Reds can’t really afford to continue playing with a shortened bench. It’ll be veteran Connor Joe, who was acquired on Friday in a trade with the Padres, taking his spot on Cincinnati’s active roster.

The dynamic 29-year-old outfielder sat out each of the team’s previous three contests due to tenderness in his left calf. Fraley returns to a .205/.319/.359 slash line to go along with three homers, nine RBI and three stolen bases through his first 91 plate appearances. His return will negatively impact the playing time of Rece Hinds, who finds himself back on the bench for Friday’s ballgame.

Fraley will sit out Wednesday’s showdown at Truist Park in Atlanta with Reds manager Terry Francona telling reporters he’ll need to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the issue. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now, but there’s a chance he winds up requiring a trip to the injured list.

Fraley will sit out Wednesday’s showdown at Truist Park in Atlanta. He missed time last week with a right quad contusion. It doesn’t sound like a massive concern at the moment. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

Fraley clobbered his grand slam off Eduard Bazardo, and it turned a 5-3 deficit into a 7-5 lead. The 29-year-old picked a good time for his first homer of the season, and the three-hit afternoon bumps his slash to .234/.280/.362 over 47 at-bats and 11 games.
