The Mets definitely miss Tyrone Taylor at the moment, Mullins was decent enough in his first four weeks with the club, but since Aug. 28, he’s 5-for-49 with one extra-base hit, dropping his season OPS to .693.

Mullins takes a seat for the second straight contest with Jose Siri — who was activated from the injured list after missing nearly five months with a fractured leg — getting the nod to face tough left-hander Cristopher Sánchez in this one. The 30-year-old figures to cede playing time to Siri, especially against southpaws, over the final two-plus weeks.

It’s just a routine day off for the veteran; although, Mullins has really struggled since coming to the Mets, slashing .188/.297/.294 in 26 games with one home run and eight RBIs. He does have six steals over that time, so he continues to provide fantasy value there, but not many other places. Jeff McNeil will start in center field with Starling Marte entering the lineup as the designated hitter.

Mullins’ home run was his 16th of the season and first since he was acquired by the Mets prior to the trade deadline. The 30-year-old outfielder blasted a solo shot off Quinn Priester in the fourth inning. Mullins’ average is just .225 this year, though he’s hit much better since the beginning of July. He has a .728 OPS and 51 RBI this year.

Mullins will slot in as the starting center fielder for the Mets, potentially platooning with Tyrone Taylor when left-handed pitchers are on the mound. Although his season-long stats may not be overwhelming, Mullins is hitting .290/.346/.522 in July with three home runs, 10 RBI, and six stolen bases. If he keeps up that kind of production, he’s going to be a tremendous asset in this Mets lineup.

Mullins has been solid in 2025 for the Orioles, and now he’ll get a chance to play for a contender in New York. The 30-year-old has forged a .738 OPS over 91 games and 314 at-bats while homering 15 times and stealing 14 bags. There’s a chance he won’t be in the lineup against left-handers, but he should get more than enough time to be relevant in redraft leagues; even if he hits closer to the bottom of the order rather than the top.

Heyman notes that the Mets have been heavily in on Luis Robert, but that it’s looking more likely that the White Sox will hang onto Robert through the deadline. Mullins would be an upgrade in the outfield for the defense, and and offers some fantasy upside against right-handed pitching. The Orioles are out of it, so this one makes a lot of sense on paper.

Mullins broke things open with a three-run blast off Antonio Senzatela in the fourth inning and later brought a run home on a base hit in the sixth. The 30-year-old outfielder is hitting .219/.297/.409 with 14 homers, 39 runs scored, 45 RBI, and 14 steals across 338 plate appearances.

Passan gives Mullins a 70 percent chance to be traded, which makes sense since he’s in the final year of his contract and has been outplayed by Colton Cowser and Ramon Laureano this season. The Orioles also gave big money to Tyler O’Neill, who has begun to play over Mullins as well. If the Orioles do move on from their former center fielder, the Phillies, Astros, and Mets would seem to be the best fits.

Mullins’ home run was No. 13 on the year. The 30-year-old outfielder hit a two-run shot off Spencer Strider in the fifth inning. It’s just Mullins’ third home run in his last 27 games. He’s seen his average tank as after hitting .278 in the first 28 games of the year, he’s hitting .172 over his last 43 games. Mullins is hitting .214 with a .715 OPS and 41 RBI on the season.

The 30-year-old outfielder seems to be one of the most likely players to be moved prior to the trade deadline, with the Mets, Guardians and Phillies among the teams expected to be interested. Even if it’s not Mullins, it sounds like the Astros are going to be in the market for an upgrade in the outfield over the next month.

The 30-year-old is a free agent at the end of the season, so it makes sense for an Orioles team that is falling out of the playoff race to see what they can get for him at the deadline. That would open up playing time for Heston Kjerstad, Ramon Laureano, and Dylan Carlson this season, but also Jud Fabian or Dylan Beavers in 2026. Mullins is hitting just .220/.306/.430 in 62 games but has 12 home runs and eight steals, which could provide some fantasy juice if he lands in a good spot. Passan lists the Mets, Guardians, and Phillies as the best fits for the center fielder.

Mullins knocked a base hit in the second inning, then later took Tyler Anderson deep for a go-ahead, two-run blast in the sixth. It was his first home run since May 19 as he missed roughly two weeks with a hamstring injury. The 30-year-old outfielder is up to 11 homers while hitting .236/.324/.462 with 34 RBI and eight steals over 222 plate appearances.

The 30-year-old outfielder started each of the first two games in his return from the injured list, but he’ll take a seat on Thursday evening with tough opposing southpaw Tarik Skubal taking the mound for the Tigers. Colton Cowser will cover center field and bat ninth for the O’s on Friday.

The Orioles were right about Mullins pulling off a quick return from a mild hamstring strain. He’ll presumably go back to starting in center field against right-handers, with Dylan Carlson taking the spot (and Colton Cowser sliding from left to center) against lefties for now. Carlson still seems likely to lose his place on the roster after Tyler O’Neill is activated.

An MRI performed Thursday showed only a mild strain, so the team thinks this will be a brief absence. Still, this means all three Orioles starting outfielders are currently on the IL, though Colton Cowser, at least, should be back early next week. Mullins, the team’s best player over the first four weeks of the season, had come in at just .184/.227/.340 in his last 27 games. The Orioles will likely have Dylan Carlson and Jorge Mateo split time in center for now. Cowser can take over there next week.

Mullins is in center field and batting seventh after sitting out three of the past four games to address some lingering physical issues. The 30-year-old figures to continue playing regularly against right-handed pitching, but former top prospect Jackson Holliday took over the leadoff spot a couple weeks ago and isn’t giving it back.

It’s notable that Mullins is sitting for the third time in the last four games for the Orioles, this time with Jorge Mateo taking over in center field against another right-handed starter. The 30-year-old is hitting just .226/.320/.446 with 10 homers and seven steals through 49 games. He typically gets a break against tougher left-handers so it’s concerning that Baltimore is keeping him on the bench against right-handers the past couple games in favor of Mateo and Dylan Carlson.

The first absence was in the second game of a doubleheader, so that doesn’t exactly qualify as a day off. Still, it’s fairly surprising to see Mullins sitting versus a righty. Typically, his breaks come against lefties. Mullins has mostly slumped over the last month after his big start, but he does have three homers and 10 RBI in his last 11 games. The Orioles have Dylan Carlson in center today.

The dynamic 30-year-old outfielder roped a one-out double into center off of Tyler Anderson in the fifth inning, then swiped third base and scored on an RBI single by Ryan Mountcastle. Mullins also singled off of Connor Brogdon in the sixth inning and rode home on Gunnar Henderson’s two-run blast. On the season, he’s now slashing .229/.340/.435 with seven long balls, 21 RBI and six swipes through his first 37 games.

Mullins, who has been dealing with an illness recently, gets a break after logging 18 innings in center field during Saturday’s doubleheader against the Tigers. It’ll be Dylan Carlson taking over in center field.

Mullins came through with the biggest hit of the evening in the fifth inning, smacking an RBI single off of MacKenzie Gore that plated Ryan O’Hearn with the go-ahead run. He then deftly swiped second base, but the Orioles couldn’t cash him in from there. The 30-year-old outfielder is enjoying a nice renaissance to start the 2025 season, slashing .295/.433/.590 with six homers, 20 RBI and five stolen bases.

Practically the only bright spot in the Orioles’ lineup so far this season, Mullins put together another solid game as most of the rest of his teammates floundered. He extended his hitting streak to five games and has reached base safely in 10 straight. His 1.049 has been a pleasant surprise and seems to be set for a resurgent season.

The Orioles could have sat Mullins against the lefty tonight — they did sit their other platoon guys — but he’s simply been too good. The homer came off left-handed reliever Joey Cantillo. It was just his second in 111 plate appearances against southpaws since the beginning of last year.
