Moore finally got the Angels on the board in the fifth inning with a 420-foot (106.1 mph EV) solo shot off of George Kirby, but all that did was pull the Angels to within 10 runs at 11-1. It was also Moore’s only hit in four trips to the plate in the ballgame. For the season, the 22-year-old infielder is slashing a disappointing .192/.285/.350 with five homers, 13 RBI and a 44/15 K/BB ratio over 138 plate appearances with the Halos.

Moore’s transition to the big leagues hasn’t gone as smoothly as he would’ve hoped, slashing a meager .195/.287/.336 with four home runs, 12 RBI and a 41/14 K/BB ratio in his first 130 plate appearances with the Angels. He should see ample playing time down the stretch as the Angels want to find out what they have in the 22-year-old infielder.

Moore has had a difficult time in his first exposure to big league pitching, slashing a woeful .195/.287/.336 with four homers, 12 RBI and a 41/14 K/BB ratio over 130 plate appearances. He’ll return to an everyday role at the Triple-A level for the time being.

Moore smacked a go-ahead two-out, two-run single off of Jeffrey Springs in the fifth inning that gave the Halos a 5-3 advantage. He also plated a run with a fielder’s choice during their six-run rally in the 10th inning and scored on Luis Rengifo’s two-run triple. It has been a struggle at the dish for the 22-year-old rookie infielder this season, slashing a woeful .186/.304/.337 with three homers, 11 RBI and a 30/14 K/BB ratio in his first 103 plate appearances.

Moore came off the bench to go 2-for-3 with a double last night, but it wasn’t enough to get him into the lineup tonight. The 2024 first-round pick, who has played in just 109 games as a pro, will sit and watch until needed.

Unfortunately, Moore’s Inland Empire stats really have nowhere to go but down; he played in two games there after being drafted last year and went 6-for-11 with a homer, two doubles and six RBI. Moore could rejoin the Angels this weekend or early next week after missing four weeks with a thumb sprain.

It’s encouraging to see Moore participating in baseball activities after hitting the injured list back in early July with a left thumb sprain. The 22-year-old rookie infielder figures to be ready for a minor league rehab assignment at some point in early August.

Angels interim manager Ray Montgomery told reporters following the contest that Moore is undergoing further testing to determine the severity of the issue. The 22-year-old rookie walked twice before being lifted from the game after attempting to make a diving play to his right behind the second-base bag in the sixth inning. He’s presumably day-to-day heading into Thursday’s series finale.

Moore had quite the night at home against the Red Sox. With the Angels down 1-0 in the eighth inning, he took Greg Weissert deep for a game-tying solo homer. Down by one again in the bottom of the tenth, he went yard again for a walk-off, two-run blast off Justin Wilson. The 22-year-old second baseman certainly has excellent power upside if he can overcome some swing-and-miss issues.

The Angels were shutout, so Moore had plenty of company tonight. Still, it made for a quiet debut for the 2024 first-round pick. He struck out in his first at-bat and grounded out in his second against Charlie Morton. He then hit a soft lineout against Gregory Soto in the seventh, and he didn’t get up again.
