The deal is now official. Mets president David Stearns confirmed Polanco will split time between first base and DH in addition to bouncing around to other infield positions as needed. The 32-year-old veteran is coming off a resurgence this past season with the Mariners where he slashed .265/.326/.495 with 26 home runs, 78 RBI and six steals over 524 plate appearances across 138 games, his highest single-season total since 2021. The omnipresent durability concerns aren’t going to vanish, but it’s a phenomenal landing spot on a short-term deal. With eligibility at second base, one of the thinnest positions in the fantasy landscape, Polanco quietly carries late-round intrigue thanks to his counting-stats upside in New York’s strong lineup.

Polanco further etched his name into Seattle’s postseason lore with a majestic 400-foot moonshot to right-center field against Toronto reliever Louis Varland that propelled the Mariners to a commanding 2-0 lead in the ALCS. He finished 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored in the lopsided affair. The 32-year-old veteran has delivered a go-ahead hit in three consecutive playoff games — the kind of pattern that makes clutch feel less like circumstance and more like inevitability.

With the bases loaded and one out, Polanco lined a single to right to mercifully end the game and put Seattle in the ALCS for the first time since 2001. The 32-year-old drove in three runs in the series, with two of those coming on homers in Game 2. The Mariners will take on the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the ALCS in Toronto beginning Sunday.

With their backs up against the wall after dropping Game 1 at home and having to battle against Tarik Skubal in Game 2 on Sunday, the Mariners needed someone to step up. Polanco answered the call, crushing a hanging 2-0 slider in the fourth inning and blasting a 392-foot (103.4 mph EV) solo shot that put the Mariners ahead. He then added on by crushing a 3-2 sinker for a 369-foot (101.2 mph EV) solo shot with two outs in the sixth inning that made it 2-0. He’s the fourth player in Mariners’ franchise history to have a multi-homer game in the postseason, joining Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martinez and Jay Buhner. The Mariners will now head to Detroit with the series knotted at one game apiece heading into Game 3 on Tuesday.

With their backs up against the wall after dropping Game 1 at home and having to battle against Skubal — arguably the best pitcher in baseball right now — in Game 2 on Sunday, the Mariners needed someone to step up. Polanco broke a scoreless tie in the second inning with an RBI double off of Stephen Kolek. That would be all of the offense that Luis Castillo and company would require in this one. It was also Polanco’s only hit in four at-bats in the ballgame. For the season, the 32-year-old is now slashing .266/.327/.492 with 24 homers, 73 RBI and six stolen bases in what has been a very productive season for the M’s.

Polanco has been heating up lately and has now gone 37-for-141 (.262) with nine home runs, 23 runs scored, and 22 RBI in 43 games since the All-Star break. That includes going 7-for-18 with two home runs, five runs, and four RBI in his last six games. He could be a nice asset for fantasy managers for the final few weeks of the season.

Polanco scorched a two-run homer off JP Sears to get the Mariners to within a run at 4-3. He also doubled in a pair of runs in the fifth that extended Seattle’s lead to 7-4. Polanco now has 20 homers, 59 RBI and an OPS of .776. Calling this an improvement over his 2024 campaign is quite the understatement.

Polanco led off the second inning with a walk, stole second base and scored on an RBI double by Randy Arozarena. He also singled in the third inning and scored on a two-run single off the bat of Victor Robles. The 32-year-old infielder is now hitting .247/.314/.444 with 19 long balls, 55 RBI and six stolen bases on the year.

It’s the second time in three games that he’s sat in favor of Mitch Garver in the DH spot. Polanco starred for the Mariners initially this season, but he’s batting only .206/.280/.339 in 379 plate appearances since May 1.

Polanco had a nice July, but he’s back slumping again now, having gone 3-for-28 with no extra-base hits or RBI in his last eight games. Even with the improvement last month, he’s hitting .203/.279/.336 in his last 79 games. Maybe the Mariners should stick with him anyway, but they don’t need to be batting him fourth right now.

Polanco’s 16th homer of the season gave Seattle a 4-2 cushion, and it came in the eighth inning off Jose Fermin. Polanco was borderline useless with the bat in May and June, but he’s now gone deep five times in July with a slash of .281/.349/.579. That’ll work.

Polanco opened the scoring in the ballgame with a two-run single off of Astros’ right-hander Hunter Brown in the third inning. That would be his only hit in four trips to the plate on the afternoon. For the season, the 32-year-old infielder is now hitting .256/.313/.469 with 15 homers, 46 RBI and three stolen bases.

Polanco’s home run was No. 15 on the year for him. The 32-year-old infielder came off the bench in the ninth inning and belted a solo shot off Tigers reliever Tommy Kahnle. The clutch home run put the Mariners up 5-4 in a game they would eventually win 8-4. Polanco is hitting .256 with a .786 OPS and 44 RBI on the year.

Polanco has been dealing with left knee soreness and wasn’t even available to start at DH for three games at the end of June, but he must be feeling better now. This frees up Cal Raleigh to DH tonight. Usual second baseman Cole Young is out of the lineup for the first time since the aforementioned June 22 game.

It’s nice to see some offensive life from Polanco, as he’s been about as hot and cold as any player in the sport this year. He blistered a homer off Seth Lugo to make it 1-0 Mariners in the fourth in his first three-hit game since April 27. Polanco certainly has offensive upside, but you have to take a lot of bitter with the better based on the last year and a half.

Polanco returns to Seattle’s lineup following a three-game absence due to left knee soreness. The 31-year-old switch-hitter has cooled off at the dish in recent weeks following a torrid start to the year. He batted just .222 (18-for-81) with one homer, eight RBI and two steals in 22 games during the month of June.

Polanco was cleared to return to action after meeting with the surgeon that performed the operation in his left knee over the weekend, so it doesn’t sound like he’s going to require a trip to the injured list. The 31-year-old will sit out his fourth straight game on Monday after aggravating his troublesome left knee during a game last week in Chicago.

The 31-year-old infielder has been battling at the plate as of late, as he’s slashing just .143/.244/.171 with zero homers and three RBI over 41 plate appearances in his last 10 games. Julio Rodriguez will function as the team’s designated hitter on Saturday with Luke Raley shifting to the outfield and Donovan Solano drawing a start at first base.

Polanco started off the season on fire and then cooled considerably in May. He began the month of June with hits in his first 10 starts off the month, but he has cooled again and is hitting just .221/.271/.299 in 21 games during the month with one home run and two steals. You can likely find better options in fantasy leagues. Cal Raleigh will slot in as the designated hitter on Thursday, which will allow Mitch Garver to start behind the plate.

Polanco’s first 24 games were so ridiculously good that he still has around a 120 OPS+ for the season. However, since May 4, he’s batting .170/.221/.240 in 140 plate appearances. Hopefully, anyone that picked him up early dropped him long ago.

Polanco turned on an offering from Kolby Allard to give the Mariners a 6-2 lead. It’s the 11th homer of the season, and it’s encouraging to see him drive the ball from the right side after struggling — and at times not playing — against southpaws in 2025. Polanco is now hitting .266/.312/.464 on the season with 33 RBI. The majority of that damage was done much earlier in the year, however, as he’s hit just two homers since the start of May.

Polanco has been limited to designated hitter duties for the majority of the 2025 campaign, and while he was signed to play third for the Mariners this offseason, the 31-year-old will handle his ‘old’ position for Wednesday’s finale in Arizona. Dylan Moore is in right field, and Cole Young opens the contest on the bench.

Seattle is finally facing a right-handed starter for the first time in three games, so Polanco is back in the lineup at DH and batting second. The extra time off can only help the 31-year-old veteran infielder from a physical standpoint.

Polanco has fallen victim to a mind-boggling run of southpaws for the Mariners as they’ve squared off against left-handed starters in three consecutive games. The 31-year-old remains limited in his capacity to swing from the right side of the dish, so he’ll open this contest on the bench. He should get back in there to face righty Trevor Williams during Wednesday’s series finale.

Polanco gets the day off during Sunday’s showdown with slugger Cal Raleigh occupying the DH spot to get a break from handling the catching duties. Polanco returns to the field on Tuesday evening for the first time since April 4. The 31-year-old has been limited to DH duty over the last month due to an ongoing side issue, which has limited his ability to swing the bat right-handed. He’s been a revelation this season for the Mariners, batting .360/.407/.750 with nine homers, 27 RBI and one steal through 26 games.

Polanco takes a seat with lefty Patrick Corbin toeing the rubber on Saturday night. The switch-hitting 31-year-old is still limited in his ability to swing the bat right-handed due to an ongoing side issue so he’ll open this one on the bench with Mitch Garver occupying the DH spot. Fantasy managers should anticipate Polanco continuing to sit against left-handed starters until further notice.
