Finally. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Polanco has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his wrist and there is no timetable for his return. He’ll get some much-needed time off to rest and recover after dealing with lingering wrist and Achilles issues, which have caused him to miss four of their last eight games since April 9. The 32-year-old infielder has been snake-bitten by physical issues during his Mets debut, which may be contributing to his abysmal .179 (10-for-56) batting average with one homer and two RBI through 14 games.

His ankle is “better today,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said. Polanco remains out of the lineup for the Mets on Friday after a Thursday off-day. If only there were some sort of “injured list” where a player like this could be stashed.

Polanco has been battling a lingering Achilles issue for the past couple weeks. He was feeling better recently before the issue flared up again. He’ll continue receiving treatment and will be reevaluated later this week to determine whether he’ll need some additional time off to finally put the issue to bed.

Polanco will get a breather as he continues to play through a lingering Achilles issue. The 32-year-old veteran infielder has gotten off to a frosty start at the dish, hitting .179 (10-for-56) with one homer and two RBI through 14 games in his Mets debut. MJ Melendez gets a turn at DH in his first game of the season as New York attempts to snap a seven-game losing streak.

Polanco returned to the lineup after sitting out the previous two games. He was hitless over his first three plate appearances before leading off the seventh with a solo homer off Justin Sterner. It was Polanco’s first of the season with the Mets. The 32-year-old slugger has been working through an Achilles issue. Saturday’s blast was certainly an encouraging sign.

Polanco has been playing through recurring Achilles tendinitis, so it’s a positive sign to see him back in the lineup at DH after Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters he could potentially require a trip to the injured list to put the issue to bed. The 32-year-old infielder is off to a frosty start in his Mets debut, hitting .200 (8-for-40) with one RBI through 10 games. It’s highly likely his recent on-field production is being greatly impacted by the lingering issue.

It’s his second straight missed game and he has DHed the last four appearances he’s been available. Polanco told reporters that he is feeling better and doesn’t believe he’ll need an IL stint. With Carlos Mendoza acknowledging an IL trip may be necessary for Polanco, it’d be wise to not count on him this weekend if you can make other plans in your lineup.

The 32-year-old infielder was held out of the Mets’ lineup on Thursday after his Achilles injury flared up on him once again during Wednesday’s game. It sounds like they’re going to give him a couple of days to see if it improves, otherwise they’ll sit him down for a bit and make sure he gets right before returning to action.

Polanco is dealing with tendinitis in his Achilles, but he’ll hit cleanup as the designated hitter for the middle game against the Giants on Saturday. Luis Robert will get Saturday off even with Juan Soto (hamstring) not available.

The absence is again due to the Achilles tendinitis that cost him Tuesday’s game before he played the last two days. He’ll probably be back in there Saturday. Mark Vientos is stepping in for him, which makes this his fourth straight start after going the first four games without one.

Polanco will get some extra rest in this one while playing through a relatively minor Achilles issue that flared up last weekend. The 32-year-old veteran should be considered day-to-day for now. He’s likely to be limited to DH for the immediate future. It’ll be Mark Vientos taking over at DH with Jared Young covering first base.

This explains why Polanco has been limited to DH in back-to-back contests with Jared Young and Brett Baty taking turns at first base. The positive news is that the 32-year-old isn’t dealing with anything knee-related since those issues have plagued him in the past. It sounds like a manageable situation for the Mets as they continue to exercise caution with their new first baseman in the early portion of the year.

Polanco is going to play most days for the Mets, switching between first base and DH, so his hitting in this spot in the order, behind Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, and Bo Bichette, is tremendous for his RBI potential. Polanco slashed .265/.326/.495 in 524 plate appearances with Seattle last year, while adding 26 home runs and six steals. Considering he will also add first base eligibility soon, he is looking like a great value in fantasy leagues.

For those of you hoping Polanco would slide right into first base eligibility, it’s good news. Polanco seems like a good bet to hit in the middle of the Mets order and, if he hits, will have plenty of RBI chances behind Francisco Lindor, Bo Bichette, and Juan Soto.

It was just Polanco’s fourth game this spring, as the Mets don’t want to overwork him while trying to teach him the finer points of playing first base. Polanco figures to prove at least adequate defensively. Still, in part to preserve his legs, he might see a lot of time at DH, with Brett Baty playing first.

The deal is now official. Mets president David Stearns confirmed Polanco will split time between first base and DH in addition to bouncing around to other infield positions as needed. The 32-year-old veteran is coming off a resurgence this past season with the Mariners where he slashed .265/.326/.495 with 26 home runs, 78 RBI and six steals over 524 plate appearances across 138 games, his highest single-season total since 2021. The omnipresent durability concerns aren’t going to vanish, but it’s a phenomenal landing spot on a short-term deal. With eligibility at second base, one of the thinnest positions in the fantasy landscape, Polanco quietly carries late-round intrigue thanks to his counting-stats upside in New York’s strong lineup.

Polanco further etched his name into Seattle’s postseason lore with a majestic 400-foot moonshot to right-center field against Toronto reliever Louis Varland that propelled the Mariners to a commanding 2-0 lead in the ALCS. He finished 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored in the lopsided affair. The 32-year-old veteran has delivered a go-ahead hit in three consecutive playoff games — the kind of pattern that makes clutch feel less like circumstance and more like inevitability.

With the bases loaded and one out, Polanco lined a single to right to mercifully end the game and put Seattle in the ALCS for the first time since 2001. The 32-year-old drove in three runs in the series, with two of those coming on homers in Game 2. The Mariners will take on the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the ALCS in Toronto beginning Sunday.

With their backs up against the wall after dropping Game 1 at home and having to battle against Skubal — arguably the best pitcher in baseball right now — in Game 2 on Sunday, the Mariners needed someone to step up. Polanco answered the call, crushing a hanging 2-0 slider in the fourth inning and blasting a 392-foot (103.4 mph EV) solo shot that put the Mariners ahead. He then added on by crushing a 3-2 sinker for a 369-foot (101.2 mph EV) solo shot with two outs in the sixth inning that made it 2-0. He’s the fourth player in Mariners franchise history to have a multi-homer game in the postseason, joining Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martinez and Jay Buhner. The Mariners will now head to Detroit with the series knotted at one game apiece heading into Game 3 on Tuesday night.

Polanco broke a scoreless tie in the second inning with an RBI double off of Stephen Kolek. That would be all of the offense that Luis Castillo and company would require in this one. It was also Polanco’s only hit in four at-bats in the ballgame. For the season, the 32-year-old is now slashing .266/.327/.492 with 24 homers, 73 RBI and six stolen bases in what has been a very productive season for the M’s.

Polanco has been heating up lately and has now gone 37-for-141 (.262) with nine home runs, 23 runs scored, and 22 RBI in 43 games since the All-Star break. That includes going 7-for-18 with two home runs, five runs, and four RBI in his last six games. He could be a nice asset for fantasy managers for the final few weeks of the season.

Polanco scorched a two-run homer off JP Sears to get the Mariners to within a run at 4-3. He also doubled in a pair of runs in the fifth that extended Seattle’s lead to 7-4. Polanco now has 20 homers, 59 RBI and an OPS of .776. Calling this an improvement over his 2024 campaign is quite the understatement.

It’s the second time in three games that he’s sat in favor of Mitch Garver in the DH spot. Polanco starred for the Mariners initially this season, but he’s batting only .206/.280/.339 in 379 plate appearances since May 1.

Polanco had a nice July, but he’s back slumping again now, having gone 3-for-28 with no extra-base hits or RBI in his last eight games. Even with the improvement last month, he’s hitting .203/.279/.336 in his last 79 games. Maybe the Mariners should stick with him anyway, but they don’t need to be batting him fourth right now.

Polanco’s 16th homer of the season gave Seattle a 4-2 cushion, and it came in the eighth inning off Jose Fermin. Polanco was borderline useless with the bat in May and June, but he’s now gone deep five times in July with a slash of .281/.349/.579. That’ll work.

Polanco has been dealing with left knee soreness and wasn’t even available to start at DH for three games at the end of June, but he must be feeling better now. This frees up Cal Raleigh to DH tonight. Usual second baseman Cole Young is out of the lineup for the first time since the aforementioned June 22 game.
