Singer struck out five before giving up a two-run homer to Danny Jansen in the fourth. He was pulled immediately afterwards. His regular season ends at 14-12 with a 4.03 ERA. We imagine he’ll be left off the Wild Card roster after throwing 71 pitches today. Then it would be between he and Zack Littell for the fourth spot in the Reds’ rotation if they advance to the NLDS.

Here’s an oversimplification: Cincinnati punches their ticket to the postseason with a win over Milwaukee. A loss would open the door for the Mets to leapfrog them into the playoffs as the NL’s final Wild Card team with a victory over the Marlins. Singer came over from the Royals in the offseason and has posted a solid 3.95 ERA across 166 1/3 innings over 31 starts in his Reds debut. This will be the biggest start of his career to date.

Singer got just four misses on 37 swings tonight, and while he wasn’t hit particularly hard, there was enough contact to do him in. Singer dropped to 14-11 with a 3.95 ERA. He’ll pitch again Sunday if the game matters to the Reds and maybe still if it doesn’t; he’d surely like that 15th win as he enters his final season of arbitration.

Singer was able to strike out six while allowing three hits and two walks in a very solid effort from the 29-year-old. The first run allowed came on a homer by Alec Burleson, while the second was due to an error from Elly De La Cruz. Singer has allowed just five runs over his last three starts while working into the sixth inning in all three. He’ll take a 3.86 ERA into what could be his final start of the year next week, and it’s a friendly one on paper against the Pirates.

Singer was victim of the dinger, as he allowed a solo homers to Lawrence Butler in the first and Carlos Cortes in the third; one of two roundtrippers Cortes hit in the game. Outside of that Singer was very solid, but the Reds gave him a big ole goose egg in terms of offensive support. Singer will take the bump again while looking to get similar results from himself and vastly different ones from his offense Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Singer loaded the bases with one out in the third but was able to escape with just one run scored on a sacrifice fly. He settled in to give the Reds three more scoreless frames, ending his day with five strikeouts over six innings. The 29-year-old right-hander will take a 3.98 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 145/56 K/BB ratio across 149 1/3 innings into a start against the Athletics in Sacramento on Friday.

Singer kept the ball in the yard and notched eight strikeouts for the third time in six starts since the outset of August. He’s also allowed three earned runs or fewer in five of those six outings during that span. He’ll face the Mets on Saturday in a challenging home tilt.

Singer punched out nine batters on the afternoon while walking three. The only hit that he allowed was a leadoff triple to Geraldo Perdomo to start the game, who then scored the Diamondbacks’ lone run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Singer generated 13 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the day — seven on his sweeper — while posting an elite CSW of 40 percent. Unfortunately, the Reds waited to explode with run support until after Singer exited, so he had to settle for a no-decision. He now holds a 4.06 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 132/52 K/BB ratio over 137 1/3 innings on the season. He’ll do battle against the Cardinals his next time out on Saturday.

Singer gave up an RBI double in the first, and then blanked the Halos for the rest of the contest. He allowed six hits with one walk, four strikeouts and landing 55-of-88 pitches for strikes. After a terrible start against the Pirates, Singer has been excellent over the last two starts while allowing only that one run over 12 innings. He’s back on the bump and will look to continue lowering a 4.18 ERA against the Diamondbacks over the weekend.

Sam Moll lost the shutout by giving up a homer to Bryce Harper with two outs in the ninth. Singer struck out six and walked none while throwing just 71 pitches tonight. He got nine missed swings, seven of which came on his 26 sliders. Singer moved to 10-9 with a 4.31 ERA. He’s due to face the Angels next week.

The 29-year-old right-hander also issued four walks on the evening while recording a pair of strikeouts. The Pirates got to him for three runs in the opening inning, including a solo blast off the bat of Bryan Reynolds. They tacked on another while chasing Singer in the fourth inning. He generated just five whiffs on 86 pitches on the night, posting a miserable CSW of 17 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 4.53 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 113/48 K/BB ratio (119 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Phillies.

It’s Singer’s fifth career 10-strikeout game and first of this year. He was coming off an outing in which he held the Rays to one run in 7 1/3 innings, so this makes back-to-back excellent starts for a guy who had been 3-7 with a 5.61 ERA in 14 turns since the beginning of May. We wouldn’t typically recommend him in mixed leagues, but he seems like a solid choice next week with a road start in Pittsburgh on the schedule.

Singer struck out eight and walked one with the only damage coming on a solo shot by Taylor Walls. The 28-year-old posted a 33 percent whiff rate and 34 percent CSW on the day. He pounded the zone with his four-seam fastball and sinker and missed just enough bats with his slider to put together the strong outing. He’ll now take a 4.60 ERA into a start against a reeling Atlanta team. He could be considered a risky streamer in deeper formats.

Singer’s abbreviated outing forced Cincinnati manager Terry Francona to burn through six relievers to finish out the contest. He gave up five hits, including a solo homer to Josh Bell, and issued two walks. The untimely implosion came on the heels of one of his better starts of the year when he closed out the first half with a nine-strikeout gem against the Rockies. He’ll attempt to bounce back on Sunday when he faces the Rays in a home matchup.

Singer tossed two scoreless frames before giving up a two-run homer to Ryan Ritter in the third. Singer then worked around a leadoff triple in the fourth, striking out the next three batters. The Rockies brought a third run in on a walk and a double in the seventh, ending Singer’s day at 93 pitches with nine strikeouts. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 4.32 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 92/40 K/BB ratio across 100 innings into the second half following the All-Star break.

Singer managed to keep the ball in the yard at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park, holding Miami off the scoreboard until the fifth inning when rookie backstop Agustín Ramírez scalded a run-scoring double to right field and Liam Hicks followed with a go-ahead RBI single. He finished with three strikeouts and only issued one walk. He’ll bring a pedestrian 4.32 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 83/39 K/BB ratio across 93 2/3 innings (18 starts) into his final first-half start on Saturday against the Rockies at home.

First the good news: Singer’s nine strikeouts were a season-high and his slider and sinker combined to force 12 swings-and-misses. Then, the bad news: he left far too many sinkers over the heart of the plate and struggled against the Yankees’ left-handed hitters. There are elements of a breakthrough for Singer without seemingly being able to get over the hump. He’s heading to Fenway to face the Red Sox in his next scheduled start.

It’s a tough loss for Singer, but he can’t really complain; he’s still 7-5 while possessing a pretty average ERA for a pretty average team. It was nice to see the seven strikeouts tonight. He had eight in both his first and fifth starts of the year, but in his last nine outings, he never struck out more than four and amassed a 28/23 K/BB. He’s likely to face the Yankees next.

Singer got through six for just the second time in his last seven starts. Still, the quicker hooks have been working for him. It just wasn’t necessary today with the Reds giving him seven runs to work with. Singer is 7-4 with a 4.34 ERA and a 60/32 K/BB in 74 2/3 innings. He’s set to face the Cardinals next time out.

Singer gave up five hits, walked three and struck out three. The 28-year-old right-hander allowed a solo home run to Eugenio Suarez in the second inning and an RBI single to Corbin Carroll in the third inning, but ultimately didn’t last long enough in the game to get a win as the Reds took the lead late. Singer has a 56/29 K/BB ratio in 68 2/3 innings with a 4.59 ERA this year. He’ll face the Tigers on the road next weekend.

Singer walked three, including Joey Ortiz with the bases loaded in the second. His walk rate is currently 9.6 percent, well up from his 6.6 percent mark the last three years. It’s an especially bad trend when combined with his unusually low groundball rate and homer-happy home ballpark. Singer is 6-4 with a 4.66 ERA on the season, and he’s due to face the Diamondbacks next time out.

The 28-year-old right-hander walked one while striking out three against his former club. All of the damage done against him came in the second inning as Kyle Isbel and Jonathan India each smacked two-out, RBI singles. Singer generated seven swings and misses on 99 pitches on the night, five of those on his slider, while registering a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll look to further improve upon his 4.60 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 49/23 K/BB ratio (58 2/3 innings) when he squares off against the Brewers on Monday.

Singer allowed three hits, walked three and struck out four. He’s totaled only seven strikeouts in three starts this month, so he’s looking like a fairly weak option in mixed leagues right now. Fortunately, he is facing the Pirates next, and he wouldn’t be a bad play in that one.

A stunning outing from Singer, who had been nothing but solid through six weeks with the Reds. He hadn’t allowed more than three earned runs in any of his seven starts coming into this one. The Astros got to him for nine hits, with six of those coming in the six-run third inning. It cost Singer what should have been the easiest win of his life, and his ERA jumped from 3.66 to 4.97. He’ll face the Guardians next.

Singer’s 102 pitches produced 44 swings and just three misses. He wound up with only two strikeouts and a 19% CSW. Singer has been really solid this year in going 4-2 with a 3.66 ERA, but with his groundball rate collapsing, he needs to maintain the early season improvement in his K rate. He doesn’t seem like a very good play with a road start in Houston coming up.

Singer’s second-best performance to date produced his first loss for the Reds, as he had been 4-0 with a 3.62 ERA. The Cardinals managed only a homer and a single against him today, lowering his batting-average against this season to .198. He’ll face the Braves in Atlanta next time out.

Singer gave up a two-run homer to Luke Raley, and two more runs were scored on an error by Elly De La Cruz. It certainly wasn’t Singer at his best, but he was able to pick up six strikeouts against three walks. Coulda been better, coulda been worse. Singer gets a friendly outing on paper next time out with a scheduled start against the Marlins in Miami.

Singer allowed only two hits, but they were a double and a homer that came back-to-back and after a one-out walk in the fifth. The homer, hit by Adam Frazier, was a 347-foot fly down the right field line, and it was the first surrendered by Singer this season. He’s 3-0 with a 3.18 ERA as he prepares to face the Mariners next week.
