The Rangers aren’t going to rush either of their veteran franchise cornerstones back from significant injuries since they’re five games back of the Astros and Guardians for a Wild Card playoff berth with just a handful of games left in the regular season. Both Seager and Semien should have normal offseasons and be ready for the outset of spring training.

The Rangers haven’t dismissed the possibility that Seager makes it back before the end of the regular season, but manager Bruce Bochy told reporters that the veteran shortstop is still sore from his appendectomy. He needs to make some serious progress with his hitting progression in the coming days to have any chance of making it back for the final week.

The Rangers are holding out hope that Seager, who has been out since undergoing an emergency appendectomy procedure back in late August, will resume baseball activities and make it back for their final homestand against the Marlins and Twins, which kicks off next Friday, September 19.

Rangers president Chris Young told reporters earlier this week that Seager will be “out a period of time” but didn’t offer a specific timeline for his return from an emergency appendectomy procedure. It’s possible he misses the final four weeks of the season, but it sounds like he hasn’t been completely ruled out yet. The 31-year-old slugging shortstop is unlikely to make a significant impact for fantasy purposes down the home stretch, which means he can be safely dropped in shallow mixed leagues.

As the Rangers announced on Thursday, Seager had to undergo an emergency appendectomy on Thursday and will be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. The Rangers are hopeful that he’ll be able to return before the regular season concludes, but that’s not a guarantee. Dylan Moore was added to the roster in a corresponding move.

While Seager hasn’t officially been placed on the injured list yet, he will be before the team’s series opener against the Athletics in West Sacramento on Friday night. Dylan Moore will join the active roster as the corresponding move. While no clear timeline was given for Seager’s return, Young did note that he did not expect him to miss the remainder of the season.

Seager worked Yusei Kikuchi for a walk in the opening inning and raced around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Josh Jung. He then crushed a two-out, 376-foot (99.9 mph EV) solo shot off of Sam Bachman in the seventh inning that extended the Rangers’ edge to 7-0. It’s the sixth time in his career — and the fourth consecutive season — in which Seager has eclipsed 20 home runs. The 31-year-old shortstop is slashing a solid .267/.369/.476 with 20 homers, 48 RBI and three stolen bases in 442 plate appearances on the year.

Seager tagged Mariners’ right-hander Logan Evans for a 396-foot (104.6 mph EV) two-run blast that gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead in the third inning. That would be his only hit on the afternoon. For the season, the 31-year-old shortstop is now hitting .265/.370/.477 with 16 homers, 40 RBI and one stolen base through his first 298 plate appearances on the season.

Remember when Seager was having a ‘bad’ season? Me neither. His solo homer was the only run his Rangers would score against JP Sears and set the stage for Jonah Heim’s go-ahead double in the seventh inning. Seager now has a hit in 24 of his last 27 games and taken a .723 OPS all the up to an .874 OPS during that span. Few hitters in the league are better and more reliable than he is.

Seager knocked a double in the third inning, then broke the game open for the Rangers with a three-run shot off Hogan Harris in the seventh inning. The 31-year-old slugger is up to 14 homers while slashing .272/.370/.487 with 40 runs scored and 37 RBI across 305 plate appearances.

Seager finally snapped a scoreless tie as he laced a Tommy Kahnle changeup into the gap in right-center for a two-run double that accounted for all of the offense in the ballgame. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night. For the season, the 31-year-old superstar shortstop is now hitting .265/.370/.473 with 13 long balls, 32 RBI and one stolen base in 289 plate appearances.

Seager led off the fourth inning with a walk and scored on a double by Wyatt Langford. He added a base hit to start the fifth, then took Sam Aldegheri deep for a solo homer in the sixth. It was Seager’s sixth home run in his last 11 games. The 31-year-old slugger is hitting .256/.359/.471 with 13 homers, 35 runs scored, and 28 RBI across 262 plate appearances.

Seager absolutely clobbered a two-run homer off Yusei Kikuchi to give the Angels a 2-0 lead in the first inning. He’s now up to a dozen homers in 2025 with 27 RBI over 59 games, and that roundtripper along with a single and a walk improves his slash to .250/.353/.455 in his 220 at-bats. All of those numbers have a good chance of improving over the second half of 2025.

Seager gave the Rangers an early 1-0 edge with a run-scoring double off of David Morgan in the opening inning. That would wind up being their only tally in the ballgame. The 31-year-old shortstop is mired in a bit of a disappointing first half by his standards, slashing just .245/.348/.440 with 11 homers, 25 RBI and one stolen base in his first 253 plate appearances.

After the Mariners scored a pair of runs in the top half of the 10th inning, Seager answered back with a 395-foot (106.2 mph EV) two-run blast off of Carlos Vargas that knotted things up at three runs apiece. That would wind up being his only hit in four at-bats on the afternoon, though he also worked a walk. The 31-year-old shortstop is now hitting .244/.342/.430 with 10 homers, 22 RBI and one stolen base through his first 52 games on the season.

Seager’s home run was his ninth of the year and second in as many days. While the 31-year-old shortstop has both missed time and struggled at the plate this year, he’s too good not to pick it up offensively. Seager is hitting .243 with a .760 OPS and 20 RBI on the season in 51 games.

Seager tied the score at 1-1 with a solo homer off Logan Gilbert in the first. He’s now gone deep eight times, and it’s worth noting that homer total comes in just 50 games. Seager’s overall slash of .242/.336/.403 does leave something to be desired, but the 31-year-old is just too good of hitter to have a slash that low for much longer. Assuming he can stay healthy, of course.

Seager snapped a six-game hitless streak with a two-hit performance, which also included a pair of walks, as part of Texas’ 16-run explosion on Tuesday night. The 31-year-old fantasy standout will aim to keep the momentum going after breaking out of an extended cold spell at the dish.

Seager is mired in one of the worst stretches of his career, going hitless (0-for-22) in six consecutive games since the start of June. The 31-year-old fantasy stalwart is batting .059 (2-for-34) in nine games since returning from the injured list back on May 28. It’s only a matter of time before he gets going again, but he’s really struggling at the dish of late.

Seager takes a seat with southpaw Mitchell Parker toeing the rubber for Washington on Saturday afternoon. The 31-year-old fantasy superstar is scuffling at the dish of late, going hitless in five consecutive contests, and is just 2-for-30 since returning from the injured list back on May 28. It’ll be Ezequiel Duran at shortstop while Seager gets a day off to clear his head.

Seager is 2-for-30 with a 13/3 K/BB ratio in eight games since coming off the injured list. It’s the third time in his career that he’s had five straight hitless games. It previously happened in Apr. 2024 and in his rookie year of 2016.

Seager is expected to be the designated hitter for Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays. The 31-year-old missed just over two weeks with his latest hamstring injury. Seager’s durability makes him a frustrating fantasy option, but his offensive upside is well worth the risk.

Seager will inject some life into Texas’ struggling lineup, which has been struggling in his absence. The 31-year-old fantasy stalwart will return after missing just over two weeks with a right hamstring strain. He was hitting .300/.346/.520 with six homers and 12 RBI in 26 games prior to hitting the shelf in mid-May.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News indicates that the Rangers, who have an open spot after designating Kevin Pillar for assignment over the weekend, could activate Seager as soon as Tuesday. Today, though, that roster spot is expected to be filled by Blaine Crim. The hope for fantasy managers is that he’ll be ready to return at some point this week.

After two days off for maintenance, Seager came out and hit a 403-foot homer off Jack Flaherty in his first at-bat tonight. He later added a 393-foot shot off Tyler Holton in the seventh. The load management is annoying, but it might pay off in the end if Seager can play in 130 games this year for the first time since 2022.

Seager is back at shortstop and batting third on Saturday after sitting out two consecutive games. There’s been zero indication that the veteran shortstop is dealing with any lingering physical issues and it’s an encouraging sign that he’s back in the lineup. He’s hitting .333 (20-for-60) with three homers over his last 15 games.

Seager sitting against Tigers’ star southpaw Tarik Skubal normally wouldn’t be a newsworthy item, but the 31-year-old shortstop also sat out on Thursday so perhaps there’s something else going on here. The Rangers haven’t mentioned anything about Seager dealing with any physical issues, but his status should be monitored throughout the weekend. Josh Smith will start in his place at shortstop and bat seventh for the Rangers on Friday evening.
