Sheehan entered to protect a four-run lead after Blake Snell’s six-inning gem and successfully bridged the gap to new closer Roki Sasaki. The 25-year-old starter-turned-postseason reliever steadied himself after allowing back-to-back hits in the eighth, including an RBI single to Trea Turner, striking out Kyle Schwarber and getting Bryce Harper to fly out to avert disaster.

Sheehan was lifted from Friday’s start against Seattle after just one inning with Roberts indicating postgame that he’s ticketed for a relief role in the postseason. The 25-year-old right-hander finished the regular season with a stellar 2.82 ERA and 89/22 K/BB ratio across 73 1/3 innings over 15 appearances (12 starts). The Dodgers could certainly use the bullpen help at the moment, so the move doesn’t come as a total shock since they’ll likely lean on Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell and Shohei Ohtani to front their October rotation.

There was no pregame indication that this would be such a short start for Sheehan, who struck out 10 in seven innings last time out against the Giants. Still, it makes sense that the Dodgers wanted to get him ready to pitch in the pen in October. He’ll probably make one more appearance on Sunday as he wraps up a season that has thus far seen hm post a 2.82 ERA in 73 1/3 innings over 12 starts and three relief appearances.

Sheehan matched his career-high with 10 strikeouts in the ballgame and didn’t walk a batter. The only baserunners that he allowed came on a one-out single by Rafael Devers in the opening inning and he plunked Bryce Eldridge to lead off the second and Andrew Knizner to open the third. He finished his day by retiring the final 15 hitters that he faced in order. The 25-year-old hurler got 17 whiffs on 84 pitches on the day — 10 on his fastball alone — while posting an elite CSW of 37 percent. Unfortunately, the Giants struck for three runs against Blake Treinen in the eighth inning and cost him his well-deserved victory. He’ll carry a 2.86 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and an 86/22 K/BB ratio into his final start of the regular season on Sunday against the Mariners in Seattle.

After entering with one out in the first tonight, Sheehan kept the Phillies hitless through the sixth before finally yielding a double to Otto Kemp to start the seventh. He was pulled then with a 3-1 lead that was quickly blown by Jack Dreyer. If the Dodgers had simply started Sheehan tonight, they might have won. If they had pulled him after six instead of one batter into the seventh, they might have won. As is, they deservedly lost 6-5 in 10 innings. Sheehan could pitch in some capacity again Sunday against the Giants.

Sheehan was brilliant in Colorado on Tuesday, holding the Rockies to one run on three hits and a walk over seven innings. He tossed 62-of-93 pitches for strikes and generated 18 whiffs to strike out nine batters. The 25-year-old right-hander will look to keep it going when he takes a 3.32 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 69/19 K/BB ratio across 59 2/3 innings into a start against the Phillies in Los Angeles next Tuesday.

The runs came on homers from Bryan Reynolds and Andrew McCutchen. Sheehan was supposed to be skipped in the rotation this week, but he got the ball tonight because Shohei Ohtani was under the weather. He did pretty good work, too, especially in generating 21 whiffs, but it didn’t much matter when the Dodgers were shut out. Sheehan will likely get another start next week at home against the Rockies. Once that’s confirmed, he’ll be a fine streaming option.

It isn’t based on how Sheehan pitched against the Reds on Monday; he was brilliant with seven scoreless innings and 10 strikeouts. This is more about the bodies in the Dodgers’ rotation, and Sheehan will stay fresh but be available out of the bullpen Sunday. It’s a bit of a bummer for fantasy managers, as Sheehan has looked the part and then some as of late.

Sheehan was fantastic, as he threw 67-of-96 pitches for strikes and was able to generate 19 swings and misses before leaving. He allowed just three hits, and just one of those — a Gavin Lux double — went for extra bases. The right-hander was able to work seven innings for the first time in 2025, and the 10 strikeouts are a career high. Sheehan will be back on the bump and look to repeat this effort when he squares off against the Pirates on Tuesday.

Sheehan stranded three baserunners through three scoreless innings before giving up a two-run homer to Brenton Doyle in the fourth. The Rockies added two more runs on a homer by Kyle Karros in the sixth before Sheehan’s day was done. He collected seven strikeouts over his six innings of work. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 4.17 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and a 44/15 K/BB ratio across 41 innings into a matchup against the Reds in Los Angeles on Monday.

The Angels got to Sheehan in the first inning, bringing three runs in to score on a walk and three hits. Taylor Ward added a run in the third with a solo homer off Sheehan. A walk and a double would bring home a fifth runs before Sheehan’s day was done after five frames. He struck out six. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 3.86 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and a 37/13 K/BB ratio across 35 innings into a start against the Rockies in Colorado next Tuesday.

Sheehan struck out two batters in a clean first inning, then surrendered a two-run homer to Nolan Gorman in the second following a fielding error, making both runs unearned. Sheehan settled in for three more scoreless frames, collecting five strikeouts over five innings. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.00 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 31/11 K/BB ratio across 30 innings. He’ll take on the Angels in Anaheim next Tuesday.

Sheehan’s ascension comes after Los Angeles jettisoned impending free agent Dustin May to the Red Sox at the trade deadline. He’s in line to face the Cardinals on Tuesday in his next outing. The 25-year-old former top prospect struck out five and was charged with three unearned runs over 3 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a bulk relief appearance against the Rays. He offers enough strikeout upside to be interesting for fantasy managers, even in shallow mixed leagues, but there could be some workload restrictions down the home stretch since he’s coming off Tommy John surgery.

After Shohei Ohtani left this game with a trainer in the fourth inning and Anthony Banda finished that frame, Sheehan worked all the way until there were two outs in the eighth. At first, he cruised, retiring 10 of the first 11 batters he faced with five strikeouts. Then, the wheels fell off in the eighth inning after two walks and then an 11-pitch battle against Spencer Steer that ended with a two-run, go-ahead triple. Outfielder Andy Pages also dropped a foul ball that prolonged this at-bat and was given an error, which wiped all of Sheehan’s runs from his ledger. For whatever reason, he didn’t throw Steer a single slider among all 11 of those pitches. Sheehan leaned on that pitch this whole outing and it was his most effective, forcing seven swings-and-misses and not allowing a single ball in play. It was a baffling decision that made Sheehan’s final line look much worse than how he pitched.

Sheehan turned in a solid start after nearly unraveling in the first inning. He walked two of the three hitters he faced and was all over the place. It took him 32 pitches to finally get through that inning and he wound up finding some consistency during the middle innings by leaning on his fastball up in the zone. That pitch and his slider carried him in a game where he had no command of his usually strong changeup. Those five innings also tied his longest outing of the season as he tries to hold his spot in this Dodgers rotation as the rest of their staff gets healthy. His next start is scheduled to come on the road against the Rays.

Sheehan was shaky throughout the outing, as he allowed seven hits and a free pass while striking out three. The 25-year-old’s biggest issue was the third inning; a frame where he allowed a four-spot. Sheehan has the stuff to be a successful fantasy team and the Dodgers should give hi plenty of win chances, but there hasn’t much consistency at the highest level to put it mildly. He’s a risky option for Friday’s scheduled start in Boston against the Red Sox.

Sheehan followed Shohei Ohtani on Saturday in bulk relief against the Giants. After three scoreless innings from Ohtani, Sheehan took over and kept the Giants off the board into the eighth. He’d leave with two runners on and one out. One inherited runner would come in to score. Sheehan struck out three. The 25-year-old right-hander picks up his first win over the season and holds a 2.03 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and a 13/4 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings of work.

Sheehan allowed five hits, walked one and struck out four in his second major league start this season. He’ll be rather interesting in mixed leagues if he gets to keep his spot, though with Tyler Glasnow returning later this week and Blake Snell likely back soon after the All-Star break, Sheehan might continue to get shuffled around between Triple-A and the majors.

Sheehan offers some immediate fantasy intrigue, especially in deeper mixed leagues, when he takes the ball for Sunday’s series finale against the Astros. The 25-year-old righty is expected to receive some runway to establish himself in Los Angeles’ rotation mix with Ben Casparius shifting back to a bullpen role. It’s a bit unclear how things will shake out once Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) returns, but Sheehan has a path to regular starts if he performs at the highest level in Los Angeles. He’s at least worthy of a speculative pickup for fantasy purposes.

Sheehan has been one of the trendiest names in fantasy baseball after his tremendous season debut against the Padres, followed by a 13-strikeout start in Triple-A. Things were not as smooth on Tuesday, as Sheehan struck out two and walked one. He did allow only one extra base hit and threw 39 of his 59 pitches for strikes, but he wasn’t as crisp as he had been in his previous outings. It’s a good reminder that Sheehan missed all of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, so there should be some inconsistencies expected as he works his way back. He is still a worthwhile stash in fantasy leagues, but his role in Los Angeles is uncertain, and there will be some blips like this along the way as well.

Sheehan is taking the ball on Tuesday night for Triple-A Oklahoma City, but could get the call for Sunday’s series finale against the Astros with Yoshinobu Yamamoto getting some extra rest. The 25-year-old former pitching prospect struck out 13 over six perfect innings last Wednesday in his previous Triple-A outing and offers some streaming appeal in deeper mixed leagues. There should be a final decision from the Dodgers at some point later this week.

Sheehan was sensational for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, but the 25-year-old will remain in the minors for at least one more start. If that one goes well, the right-hander could make that next appearance with Los Angeles, and fantasy managers should give him consideration if/when that takes place.

Sheehan isn’t eligible to return to the big leagues until at least next Friday under league option rules, unless it’s as an injury replacement. The 25-year-old former top pitching prospect was jettisoned to the minors last week after allowing just one run while striking out six over four innings in his season debut against the Padres. This is the type of statement outing, which included a staggering 21 swinging strikes, that often causes a front office to reconsider their rotation plans. At a bare minimum, Sheehan should be able to provide a lift to the Dodgers’ pitching staff, even if it winds up being as more of a swingman or bulk reliever. He’s missing enough bats that he’s interesting for fantasy purposes, even in shallow mixed leagues.

The 25-year-old hurler pitched fairly well in Wednesday’s start against the Padres, giving up one run on three hits over his four innings while striking out six batters. The expectation was that he would stick around to start against the Rockies next week, which would now require someone else to land on the injured list in order for the Dodgers to bring him back in time.

It was Sheehan’s first start since the 2023 postseason, and all things considered it went pretty well. The 25-year-old held San Diego to three hits, and the only blemish in terms of run-prevention was a run-scoring single by Elias Diaz. He needed just 65 pitches in the outing — 43 of those landing for strikes — and he looked the part for the overwhelming majority of the start. He’s worthy of streaming consideration when he faces the Rockies on Tuesday even with that start taking place in Colorado.

Sheehan represents an intriguing fantasy option in deeper mixed leagues given his prospect pedigree and backing by Los Angeles’ star-studded lineup. The 25-year-old former top pitching prospect will make his season debut on Wednesday night against the division-rival Padres. It’ll be his first start in the big leagues since the 2023 campaign after missing all of last season recovering from Tommy John surgery. He misses enough bats to forecast some fantasy relevance in deeper formats, but there’s some risk given the extended layoff and likely workload limitations.

That outing will come at some point next week. Sheehan is recovering from Tommy John surgery, but struck out seven over 3 1/3 innings in his most recent rehab start, and the Dodgers liked enough of what they saw to believe he can contribute to the rotation. Sheehan has some significant upside in his right arm, but fantasy managers will want to see the matchup before considering using the right-hander. It’s possible that outing could come against the Padres, and it might be best to take a wait-and-see approach if that’s the case.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that they’ll discuss whether to call up Sheehan after his next outing later this week. He threw three innings on Saturday for Triple-A Oklahoma City in his third minor league rehab outing and appears to be close to making it back to Los Angeles’ injury-depleted rotation. The 25-year-old righty missed last season recovering from Tommy John surgery. He would have some immediate appeal for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues.

Sheehan also struck out five and didn’t walk anybody while throwing 27 of his 39 pitches for strikes. The 25-year-old is working his way back from last year’s Tommy John surgery and will need a few more starts before he becomes an option for the Dodgers’ rotation.
