Stroman drew the starting assignment for New York’s final game prior to the trade deadline and carried a shutout into the fourth inning before Tampa Bay finally broke through for four runs on five hits, including a two-run double by Taylor Walls with two outs in the frame. He’s scheduled to take the ball on Wednesday against the Rangers at Globe Life Field in his next outing.

On the heels of his strongest start of the season, Stroman struggled to throw strikes and failed to complete four frames on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. He gave up a run in the opening frame before serving up a third-inning moonshot to Bryce Harper. Things unraveled further in the ensuing inning when he issued four walks, enabling the Phillies tacked on a pair of additional runs. The 34-year-old righty holds a bloated 6.09 ERA and 23/15 K/BB ratio across 34 innings (eight starts) this season. He’ll square off against the Rays on Thursday in his next outing.

Stroman gave up five hits, walked none and struck out four. The 34-year-old right-hander has a 3.00 ERA over his last four starts since he re-joined the Yankees rotation. Stroman has only 12 strikeouts in 21 innings in those four starts. He only has fantasy value in deeper formats at this point in his career and could lose his rotation spot to Luis Gil or a starter the Yankees acquire before the trade deadline. As of now, Stroman is lined up to face the Phillies at home next weekend.

Stroman’s velocity was a little better tonight, as he averaged 90.6 mph with his sinker. He was still hit fairly hard, but most of the contact was on the ground and he kept the Yankees in the game while they were getting no-hit by Bryan Woo. Stroman did get checked on towards the end of his outing, as it looked like he tweaked his knee running to cover first. However, he was able to remain in after one warmup throw. He ends the first half with a 6.66 ERA in six starts.

Stroman danced into and out of trouble and gave up tons of loud contact, but still managed to put himself in position to earn the win against his former team. It’s a marvel how he can ever be effective though with practically the least velocity in the entire league. He threw just two pitches over 90 mph in this game and still threw his sinker nearly 70% of the time against right-handed batters. With Clarke Schmidt’s injury, he figures to have a secure spot in this rotation though and lines up to face the Mariners next time out.

Stroman was excellent in his first start for the Yankees since April 11. He kept the A’s off the board through four innings before Willie MacIver took him deep for a solo homer in the fifth. He’d end his day after scattering just two other hits and two walks. The 34-year-old right-hander will look to build off the strong start in a road matchup against the Mets on Friday.

Stroman lacks the strikeout upside to merit consideration for a roster spot in shallow fantasy formats, but he represents a legitimate upgrade for the fifth spot in New York’s rotation at the moment. The 34-year-old veteran made just three starts before hitting the injured list back in mid-April with knee inflammation. He shouldn’t have much of a governor on his workload from a pitch count standpoint after throwing 65 pitches in his final rehab outing. It’s a tough matchup right out of the gate against an improving Athletics’ lineup in hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium, which limits his streaming appeal to extremely deep mixers.

Stroman is scheduled to throw approximately 70 pitches on Tuesday in a Triple-A start and then could be activated for a weekend start if all goes well. The Yankees have an open spot in the rotation with Ryan Yarbrough (oblique) landing on the IL. Allan Winans will start on Monday, and it seems like he or Stroman will be the choices for a weekend spot in the rotation.

Stroman struck out four and threw 55 pitches (34 strikes) in his second rehab outing. The 34-year-old veteran figures to be an option for New York’s pitching staff at some point in the next few weeks, but it’s a bit unclear what his exact role will wind up being.

Stroman punched out six batters, issued two walks and threw 46 pitches (27 strikes) in his rehab debut. He was sitting in the 89-mph range with his sinker, according to The Athletic’s Brendan Kuty. The 34-year-old veteran righty is aiming to rejoin New York’s rotation mix at some point in the coming weeks as he wraps up his rehabilitation process from knee inflammation.

The veteran has been on the IL with knee inflammation since April 12, so this rehab stint will likely be a lengthy one. Depending on the timeline for fellow starter Luis Gil’s return from his lat injury, there may not be a spot in the rotation for Stroman by the time he’s healthy.

It’s the first time Stroman has faced hitters since suffering a setback earlier this month with his left knee. The 34-year-old has been out since mid-April due to knee inflammation, so it’s encouraging that he’s progressed to facing hitters again, which is usually the final step before starting a rehab assignment.

Stroman has been on the shelf since mid-April due to left knee inflammation, which required a cortisone injection. The 34-year-old righty is likely a couple weeks away from a minor league rehab assignment, so fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until sometime in June.

It certainly doesn’t sound like Stroman is close to making it back to New York’s rotation mix at any point in the near future. The 33-year-old righty received a cortisone injection a couple weeks ago after landing on the shelf with left knee inflammation and has yet to resume throwing off a mound. It’s looking like he’ll be out until sometime around midseason.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters he’s hopeful Stroman isn’t facing an extended absence. The 33-year-old hit the injured list earlier this weekend with left knee inflammation. He’ll presumably be cleared to resume throwing at some point next week once the swelling subsides. He should make it back to New York’s rotation mix at some point in May, barring any setbacks.

Stroman’s stuff remains in decline, and it’s probably not due to the knee. He’ll get some time off and then the Yankees will figure out whether it’s worth trying to mix him back in or not. This means both Carlos Carrasco and Will Warren figure to remain in the rotation following Clarke Schmidt’s return next week.

Boone did say that Stroman was meeting with team doctors, but that was it. The right-hander was shelled before leaving with knee trouble Friday, and Boone was unsure if Stroman would need to head to the injured list. It seems unlikely that the 33-year-old will be able to make his next start, at the very least.

Stroman gave up five runs on four hits and three walks in just 2/3 of an inning in a brutal loss to the Giants on Friday, leaving some to wonder whether or not his spot was safe in the Yankees’ rotation. Now it sounds like he could be heading for a stay on the injured list, which may be the next best thing for all parties involved.

Oof. Stroman also issued three walks in the abbreviated outing while recording one of his two outs via the strikeout. Before he could blink the Giants had tagged him for three runs as he allowed a double, walk and then a three-run homer to Jung Hoo Lee. Stroman then walked each of the next two hitters before allowing a two-run double to LaMonte Wade Jr. He then got a couple of outs before allowing a single to Tyler Fitzgerald and being lifted from the game. With the way Stroman is throwing the ball, and this disastrous outing, there’s no guarantee that he keeps his spot in the rotation when Clarke Schmidt is ready to return. He now holds an 11.57 ERA, 2.04 WHIP and a 7/7 K/BB ratio over 9 1/3 innings through his first three starts. Fantasy managers should want absolutely no part of this.
