It’s Suarez’s third scoreless start in last four outings, but this came with a few more swings and misses than the other two. It’s his sixth career 10-strikeout game. Incredibly, four of those have come in his last 14 starts (the other three with the Phillies down the stretch last season). He totaled two in his first 111 starts. The gem makes Suarez 2-2 with a 3.09 ERA this season. He’ll have his next start come Sunday at home versus the Astros.

Suarez had good velocity and decent command tonight, but Amed Rosario hit a three-run homer in the first and Giancarlo Stanton doubled twice off him. That he was lifted in the fifth after just 71 pitches was because he was due to face Stanton for a third time, and manager Alex Cora just didn’t think that was a very good idea. Suarez dropped to 1-2 with a 4.00 ERA. He’ll make starts in Toronto and at home against the Astros next week.

Over his last two games, Suarez has allowed zero earned runs in 14 innings while striking out 10 and allowing only 10 baserunners. The lefty made his longest start of the season on Friday, but was still hit with a no-decision after the Tigers and Red Sox took a scoreless game into extra innings. With another strong outing, Suarez has now lowered his ERA on the season to 3.22 and has a 1.07 WHIP. We’ll see if he can keep this strong stretch going in his next start, which is scheduled for Wednesday against the Yankees.

Suarez wasn’t dominant, with just a 19 percent whiff rate and a 65 percent strike rate overall, but he got enough called strikes and prevented enough hard contact to get through without much trouble. Part of that was the opponent, but it’s just nice to get a solid start under your belt in your first season with a new team. He’ll look to keep it going next week at home against the Tigers.

Suarez wasn’t quite right in his outings this spring, he wasn’t quite right pitching for Venezuela in the WBC and he’s definitely not quite right now. His velocity is typical, and he’ll probably figure out what’s causing the issues with his sinker, but it might be a little while. He’ll take an 8.64 ERA into his next start against the Cardinals.

Suárez’s velocity was quite good tonight, but he still gave up two homers and five other hard-hit balls in a weak showing that saw him throw first-pitch strikes to just nine of 20 hitters. Maybe he’ll show up against the Padres this weekend, but between his Grapefruit League outings, his WBC performance and this outing tonight, it almost seems like he’s mailed it in since landing a $130 million contract.

Suárez allowed two runs in the first inning and then a two-run home run in the second before settling down and throwing two straight scoreless frames. The fifth inning included three singles and a home run before Suárez was removed from the game. The veteran had only six whiffs on the day, and his velocity was down two mph on his four-seam fastball. We know Suárez is behind schedule due to his time in the World Baseball Classic, so it was good to see him throw 69 pitches here, but he’s also clearly not fully ramped up for the season. We wouldn’t read too much into a spring training start, especially for a pitcher who we know is behind schedule, but we also likely wouldn’t use Suárez against the Astros in his first start.

The 30-year-old southpaw is behind the other Red Sox’ starters in camp with his buildup after being away at the World Baseball Classic, so they’ll give him a few extra days before making his regular season debut. He should be expected to start at some point during the team’s second series of the season which begins on Monday, March 30 against the Astros in Houston.

The 30-year-old southpaw also issued three walks while striking out four in the ballgame. He served up a leadoff solo homer to Shohei Ohtani to open the first inning. Suárez then walked two batters to open the third — one intentionally to Ohtani — before giving up an RBI double to Teruaki Sato and a three-run blast to Shota Morishita. Overall he got five whiffs on 51 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 25 percent.

Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto will toe the rubber for Japan as the defending WBC champions host Venezuela at loanDepot park in Miami. It’s a challenging assignment for Suárez having to face a loaded Japan lineup that is headlined by generational talent Shohei Ohtani. The winner of Saturday’s contest will face whoever emerges from a highly-anticipated matchup between Puerto Rico and Italy in the semifinals.

Venezuela skipper Omar López made it official that Suárez will take the ball at the front of a rotation that also includes Eduardo Rodriguez and Antonio Senzatela. The 30-year-old southpaw will make his Red Sox debut in the next few weeks after signing a five-year, $130 million contract in the offseason following eight seasons with the Phillies.

Suárez threw 64 percent strikes while registering a 13 percent whiff rate and 20 percent CSW. His velocity also seemed to be up considerably on both his changeup and curveball, so it will be interesting to see if this was a result of one game or is a conscious change the Red Sox are making to the pitch shapes. Regardless, Suárez’s fantasy value hasn’t changed much from where it was back when he was with the Phillies.

Suárez hit a batter and allowed a single in the first inning, but induced a double play to get out of trouble. He struck out the first batter of the second inning before allowing a double and a 374-foot home run to Konnor Griffin on a hanging curveball. He struck out the next batter to end his afternoon. Suárez sat 90.3 mph on his four-seam fastball, and it would be calming for fantasy managers and Red Sox fans if he could get that up over 91 mph heading into the regular season.

The backloaded contract will then pay Suárez $15 million in 2027, $30 million in both 2028 and ’29 and $35 million in 2030. There’s a $35 million mutual option for 2031 that includes a $10 million buyout. The structure saves the Red Sox quite a bit in the short term and also protects Suárez in the event of a lengthy lockout in 2027; he’d be losing far less then than his AAV of $26 million.

The deal was reported last week and is now official. Suárez is a groundball-heavy pitcher with tremendous control, which is a profile that should age well. Obviously, the team will hope to get his fastball velocity trending back up, but Suárez should fit nicely alongside Garrett Crochet and Sonny Gray at the top of a rotation with both talent and experience. It remains to be seen what the Red Sox will now do with their rotation, which appears to have far more candidates than it has free spaces.

Suárez came in after Aaron Nola threw two scoreless innings while allowing one hit and striking out three. The southpaw threw just 72 pitches — 51 of them for strikes — while allowing just a solo homer to Tommy Edman in an excellent outing for the 30-year-old. Suárez will likely pitch in a similar role if the Phillies are able to advance to the NLCS.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters after Saturday’s contest that Suárez will be fine to make his next start during the postseason after being hit by a comebacker in the upper thigh. The 30-year-old finished the regular season with an outstanding 3.12 ERA and 147/38 K/BB ratio across 153 innings over 25 starts.

The 30-year-old southpaw was hit near the groin area and was laughing it off after it happened, but the Phillies obviously weren’t going to take any chances here. It’s possible that he heads for further evaluation, but it sounds like Suárez should be fine for the start of the postseason. Before exiting, he had allowed three runs on nine hits over his 4 1/3 innings while striking out four batters.

Suárez walked one batter on the afternoon while recording two strikeouts. The Diamondbacks scratched out a run against him in the opening inning and then broke the game wide open with a five-run second inning — capped off by a three-run homer off the bat of Corbin Carroll. The 30-year-old southpaw got just three swings and misses on 79 pitches on the day, posting a miserable CSW of just 20 percent. He’ll look to bounce back and finish the regular season on a high note as he brings a 3.12 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 147/38 K/BB ratio (153 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Twins.

That’s as many runs as he’d allowed in his previous five starts combined. Still, Suárez was briefly in line for the win after the Phillies scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 4-3 lead, but the Dodgers tied it right away in the bottom of the frame. Suárez might make just one more start during the regular season, that coming next week against the Marlins.

He allowed only one hit, a Brandon Nimmo single in the fifth. Suárez had two career 10-strikeout games as of a few weeks ago, but he matched his high against the Mariners on Aug. 18, exceeded it with 11 six days later and now has beaten in once again. He’s 12-6 with a 2.77 ERA ahead of a showdown with the Dodgers next week.

The 30-year-old southpaw walked two batters on the afternoon while punching out four. The biggest threat against him came in the sixth inning as William Contreras worked a leadoff walk and Andrew Vaughn followed with a double to put two men in scoring position with zero outs in a scoreless game. Suárez then got a ground out to second base, a fly ball to shallow center and a ground out to third to escape unscathed. He generated six whiffs on 89 pitches on the day, posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. Now 11-6 on the season, he’ll carry a 2.89 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 128/32 K/BB ratio (137 innings) into Tuesday’s showdown against the Mets.

Suárez had two career 10-strikeout games as of a week ago. Now he’s done it back-to-back outings against the Mariners and Nationals. He got 16 missed swings and finished with a 38 percent CSW today. He also went without a walk for the fourth time in five starts. This makes him 10-6 with a 3.07 ERA ahead of a start next weekend against the Braves,

Suárez was staked to a one-touchdown lead by the third inning and managed to cruise to a relatively easy win. He carried a shutout into the seventh inning before serving up a solo homer to Mariners veteran backstop Mitch Garver. The 29-year-old left-hander’s velocity was back to its usual levels and he managed to rebound after a pair of lackluster performances in his previous two starts. He’ll bring a strong 3.25 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 111/29 K/BB ratio across 119 innings (19 starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the Nationals to close out a two-start week.

Both Suárez and Brady Singer allowed seven hard-hit balls tonight, but Suárez gave up 10 hits and six runs and Singer allowed three hits and no runs. That’s hardly all luck — more of the contact against Suárez came in the form of line drives — but Suárez did deserve somewhat better. Unfortunately, he’s given up at least five runs in three of his five outings since the break. During the first half, he allowed more than three runs just once in 13 starts. Suárez will probably make his next start Monday against the Mariners, assuming that the Phillies bring back Aaron Nola on Sunday.

It’s just the third time in 17 starts this season that Suárez has allowed more than three runs. All but the last of the five runs came in the fourth, when he gave up two singles, an RBI double and a Coby Mayo three-run homer, all before getting the first out of the inning. He did his best to keep the Phillies in the game from there, but the offense didn’t pick him up today. Suárez dropped to 8-5 with a 2.94 ERA. He’ll pitch in Cincinnati next week.

The 29-year-old southpaw punched out five batters on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. The only damage done against him came on a three-run blast off the bat of Gleyber Torres in the third inning. Aside from that Suárez was terrific, but that was enough to hang a loss on him. He got eight whiffs on 92 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll carry a 2.68 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 95/27 K/BB ratio (100 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s battle against the Orioles.

Suárez drew the starting assignment for Saturday afternoon’s matinee at Yankee Stadium and carried a shutout into the fourth inning before Jasson Domínguez connected for a run-scoring single with two outs. He was lifted from the contest after giving up a pair of sixth-inning singles. It was the fourth time this season that he’s posted eight strikeouts with three of those outings coming in a seven-start span dating back to June 18. It was a much-needed bounce back for the 29-year-old lefty after getting rocked for six runs his last time out against the Angels. He’ll face off against the Tigers on Friday in his next outing.

Súarez walked four and struck out four while throwing just 58 of his 100 pitches for strikes. He did allow only one extra base hit, but the average exit velocity against him was 91.8 mph, and he managed just four whiffs on 43 swings for a nine percent whiff rate. It was a poor outing for the left-hander, who will now take a 2.66 ERA into a tough start against the Yankees next week. Is this one bad start or the beginning of another rough second half for a pitcher who had a 5.65 second-half ERA last year and a 4.57 mark the year before?

Súarez gave up all three of his runs in the second inning, and two of them were unearned because of an error by JT Realmuto. The 29-year-old did deal with some traffic as seen in three free passes and five hits allowed, but after the second frame the left-hander was excellent. Súarez will take an outstanding 1.94 ERA and 78/22 K/BB ratio into the second half, and he should be one of the first starters for the Phillies after the break.
