All of the runs came in the second, which started off with a walk and a homer before Wentz went on to allow three more hits. Wentz took the loss to the organization he started the year with and finished up 5-7 with a 5.60 ERA in 13 starts and 26 relief appearances. All of those starts came with the Braves, and he was 3-6 with a 4.92 ERA and a 64/23 K/BB in 64 innings for Atlanta. He actually looked adequate enough as a starter to warrant keeping his roster spot this winter, but we’ll see if the Braves feel the same way.

Wentz nearly matched his season-high in the strikeout department in his return to the Motor City, limiting the Tigers to just a pair of runs on six hits and two walks in his longest outing since late August. The 27-year-old lefty closes out the season with a home outing on Friday against the Pirates.

Wentz was pulled from a 2-2 game after going through the lineup twice. He had thrown 93 pitches, so even if the Braves were comfortable letting him face the top of the order for a third time, his pitch count was arguing for his removal anyway. Wentz will face his old friends in Detroit next weekend.

Wentz was originally scheduled to start on Monday, but he was moved up a day, with the team deciding to push Spencer Strider back a day. That move did not work out. Wentz allowed one run in the first two innings, but the Mariners jumped all over him in the third inning and chased him from the game. Wentz’s upcoming matchups don’t inspire much confidence, and he can be dropped in most formats.

On the plus side for fantasy managers, Wentz racked up eight strikeouts on the evening while allowing one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came in the third inning as Kyle Tucker swatted a three-run homer and Ian Happ added an RBI single. Wentz generated 13 whiffs on 96 pitches on the night — seven on his slider — while posting a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he carries a 5.12 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and a 75/37 K/BB ratio (82 2/3 innings) into a rematch against the Cubs on Monday night in Atlanta.

Wentz struck out five, though he settled for eight whiffs on 43 swings. It’s his third win in five starts this month and he allowed just one run in each of them, but his two losses were bad enough that his ERA has dropped only from 5.02 at the beginning of August to 4.92 now. He should be avoided with his next start coming on the road against the Cubs.

Wentz had nothing in this start from the get-go. He got out of the first inning despite allowing three hard-hit balls, let two runs home in the second, two more in the third, and another in the third before he was mercifully pulled from the game. Erick Fedde let Wentz’s final inherited runner score after he left which closed the book on this horrific start. The Mets were able to foul him off at will and work long at-bats until he made a mistake. The absence of a put-away pitch has plagued Wentz before despite what felt like some positive momentum building for him lately. His next scheduled to come against the Marlins on the road.

Wentz averaged 94 mph with his fastball in his first couple of outings for the Braves, but he was down to about 93 mph in his last three starts and 92.1 mph tonight. Obviously, it wasn’t a problem against Cleveland’s lineup, but it’s still a bad trend. The win makes him 2-2 with a 2.60 ERA in 40 2/3 innings for the Braves, but we wouldn’t go picking him up now. He’ll probably make his next start Friday against the Mets.

Wentz allowed 11 hard-hit balls, eight of which topped 100 mph. Among them were a 402-foot flyout from Kyle Stowers that would have been a homer in 10 ballparks and a 391-foot double from Derek Hill that was a homer in five. He also struck out only two and walked three. Still, it all worked out. It’s Wentz’s first win for the Braves, who drafted him 40th overall in 2016. He’s now 4-15 in 31 career major league starts. Wentz figures to face the Guardians next weekend.

The 27-year-old southpaw struck out three batters on the evening while issuing one base on balls. He kept the Brewers off the board through the first two innings until they strung together four hits, a walk and a wild pitch to push four runs across in the third inning. He then gave up an RBI single to Brice Turang before exiting in the sixth. Wentz got 10 whiffs on 96 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 30 percent. Now 2-3 on the season, he’ll try to improve upon his 5.34 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and a 52/27 K/BB ratio (57 1/3 innings) when he does battle against the Marlins on Sunday.

The Braves ended up losing 1-0 in 10 innings today, but Wentz was definitely the player of the game. The only hit against him was a Maikel Garcia liner that led off the top of the first. There were just two more hard-hit balls after that and one of those ended up being a double play from Salvador Perez that closed out Wentz’s outing in the seventh. Wentz has a 1.50 ERA in three starts and one relief appearance since joining the Braves. He’ll take on the Brewers next week.

Wentz gave up four hits, walked one and struck out six. The 27-year-old left-hander managed to throw 81 pitches. Wentz should be stretched out enough to threaten 100 pitches in his next outing as long as the Braves leave him in the rotation. Wentz lost to the Rangers, but the six strikeouts were likely encouraging enough to give him another start. He’s lined up to face the Royals on the road next week.

Wentz was excellent in his debut with Atlanta on Saturday, and he was solid again a week later He threw 38-of-59 pitches for strikes, and while he only struck out two, the southpaw kept the New York lineup off-balance throughout the contest while allowing just two hits. Wentz has earned at least another turn through the rotation, and he’ll be back on the bump against the Rangers on Friday.

Pitching for his third team this year after being claimed off waivers from the Twins yesterday, Wentz, who was drafted 40th overall by the Braves nine years ago, had one of the better outings of his career after coming into a 3-3 game in the third today. He actually matched his strikeout total from a Twins tenure in which he gave up 14 runs and walked nine in eight innings. The Braves are very short in the rotation at the moment, so they might continue to stretch Wentz out.

Wentz rejoins his first organization and will have a chance to help the Atlanta bullpen; something he didn’t do for both Pittsburgh and Minnesota in his time with both organizations. The 27-year-old doesn’t offer any fantasy upside/appeal.

Wentz was atrocious after coming to Minnesota via waiver claim; allowing 14 runs in eight innings. He’ll hit the waiver wire and likely go unclaimed, and Anthony Misiewicz will take his spot on the active roster.

Wentz will join the Twins on Thursday according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. The left-hander was designated for assignment by the Pirates after forging a 4.15 ERA over 26 innings, and he’ll give the Minnesota bullpen some help as a left-handed option who is capable of working multiple innings.

Wentz has been removed from Pittsburgh’s relief mix after recording an underwhelming 4.15 ERA across 26 innings (19 appearances). The 27-year-old former prospect has been a serviceable middle reliever, but he simply doesn’t miss enough bats to guarantee a more permanent spot. There might be some interest on waivers given his pedigree, but the results haven’t been there the past few years in the big leagues.
