The Phillies’ removed Wilson from their 40-man roster earlier in the week to make their deal with J.T. Realmuto official. The versatile 31-year-old slashed an underwhelming .198/.282/.369 in 125 plate appearances with the Phillies during the 2025 campaign. He’ll add depth for the O’s and can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.

With J.T. Realmuto’s contract becoming official, the Phillies needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, so Wilson was let go. The 31-year-old hit .198/.282/.369 in 125 plate appearances with the Phillies in 2025. He has historically produced better and is strong against left-handed pitching, so he could find a spot somewhere else as a bench bat.

Wilson is up with Alec Bohm (rib) placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Wilson could see some playing time at third and in the outfield against left-handed pitching.

Wilson, 30, has been ineffective off the bench, and the Phillies will send the outfielder down to Lehigh Valley while replacing him with Buddy Kennedy. Assuming Wilson gets back on track in the minors, he should rejoin Philadelphia; albeit in a role that offers no fantasy upside.

Wilson kicked off a minor league rehab assignment last week at Low-A Clearwater and will get in a couple games at the Triple-A level before returning to Philadelphia’s bench mix.
