Young will miss the rest of the 2025 season with his hamstring strain. The 27-year-old had some solid moments in 2025, but some real clunkers to go with them. He’ll likely compete for a backend rotation spot in 2026, assuming good health.

Young becomes the 28th player to hit the injured list for the Orioles this season. The 27-year-old rookie hits the shelf after getting crushed for seven runs over 5 1/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Astros. No word yet on the severity, but he could wind up missing the final five weeks of the season unless it’s on the lower end of the spectrum.

One start after carrying a bid for a perfect game into the eighth inning, Young was knocked all over the diamond on Thursday, with Christian Walker and Yainer Diaz each tagging him for two-run homers. He also limped off the field after appearing to injure himself while covering first base on a ground ball to record the first out of the sixth inning. Young got just four swings and misses on 84 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 21 percent. He now sports a miserable 1-7 record, 6.24 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 47/22 K/BB ratio over 57 2/3 innings on the season. With Kyle Bradish expected to return to the rotation next week, it’s possible that Young could wind up being the odd man out here.

Such a bittersweet night for Young. The Texas native pitching in Houston with his parents in attendance took a perfect game into the eighth inning. With two outs, former Oriole Ramón Urías hit a dribbler towards the third base side of the mound. Young grabbed it with his bare hand and made a poor, off-balance throw to first to end his bid for perfection. He could have planted his foot and made a stronger throw, but rushed it and was off the mark. He still managed to refocus himself and strike out Taylor Trammell to finish off eight scoreless innings and the best start of his young major league career. Yet, the tantalizing immortality of perfection was right there for the taking if not for a swinging bunt and unforced error. He’ll try to follow up this incredible performance in a rematch with the Astros next week.

Young walked the leadoff man to start the game, then surrendered a two-run homer to Shea Langeliers. The A’s would get to him again in the third, with Brent Rooker going deep for a three-run shot before a double and a sacrifice fly make it six runs on Young. That would do it for the 26-year-old right-hander. He struck out two. Young will carry a 6.70 ERA, 1.74 WHIP, and a 40/20 K/BB ratio across 44 1/3 innings into a start against the Astros in Houston on Friday.

Young gave up five hits, walked two and struck out four. Both runs he allowed came in the first inning and were unearned due to a fielding error. Young has the opportunity to stick in the Orioles rotation with Zach Eflin (back) on the shelf again, but that doesn’t make him fantasy-relevant. He’s lined up to face the Athletics at home next weekend.

Young was called up as the 27th man for Tuesday’s doubleheader and allowed two runs over six innings against the Blue Jays. With Zach Eflin (back) landing on the IL again, Young has a chance to claim a rotation spot for the remainder of the season. He is not a recommended add in fantasy leagues.

It’s Young’s longest and best showing to date, and while it didn’t get him a win, the Orioles did end up snapping a streak of having lost his previous six starts. Young was the Orioles’ 27th man today, so he’ll be back on the Triple-A roster Wednesday. However, since this isn’t an official callup for him, he’ll be eligible to return next week, when he could be needed with the Orioles likely to trade a starter or two.

Young will serve as the 27th man for Tuesday’s doubleheader. However, with all of Charlie Morton, Zach Eflin, and Tomoyuki Sugano on the trade block, there is a chance that Young will remain with the team after the deadline. However, the 26-year-old has a 7.34 ERA in 30 2/3 innings for the Orioles this year and remains off the fantasy radar.

Young gets the boot after falling to 0-5 on the season with a 7.34 ERA with another ineffective start Tuesday against the Guardians. Zach Eflin was reinstated off the 15-day injured list to make a start Wednesday in a corresponding move.

Young allowed four hits, walked three and struck out three. He fell to 0-5 through seven starts, but since his ERA actually dropped from 7.52 to 7.34, that rates as progress, right? If he stays in the rotation, he’ll likely face the Blue Jays on Monday. He might be sent down first to make room for Zach Eflin, but even if that happens, something is probably going to open up after the trade deadline.

Young struck out four and walked none, but also allowed four home runs on the day. He has a 7.52 ERA on the season and will likely not be in the starting rotation after the All-Star break with Zach Eflin nearing a return.

Young fanned Jesse Winker, Jeff McNeil and Luis Torrens on nine pitches in the fifth. Unfortunately, he got just one more out afterwards, having allowed a homer and two doubles to start the sixth. He remained in to face one more batter and got Francisco Lindor to fly out, and after he was pulled, Gregory Soto stranded the remaining runner. Young struck out six and walked none overall. While there’s perhaps a chance he could be sent down for a fresh arm tomorrow, it seems more likely that he’ll stick around and start Sunday against the Marlins.

The 26-year-old right-hander struck out four batters on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. All of the scoring done against him came in the third inning as Adolis Garcia delivered a two-run single and Jonah Heim added an RBI knock. Young got eight swings and misses on 71 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll bring a miserable 7.02 ERA, 1.98 WHIP and a 15/11 K/BB ratio (16 2/3 innings) into Sunday’s matchup against the Braves.

Young gets the nod to replace an injured Zach Eflin (back) in Baltimore’s rotation and figures to take the ball at some point later this week, most likely on Friday against Atlanta. The 26-year-old righty has pitched well at the Triple-A level, but has struggled to an inflated 7.11 ERA and 11/9 K/BB ratio across 12 2/3 innings (three starts) this season in the big leagues. He’s a risky streaming option despite his prospect pedigree.

Young heads back to the minors after giving up four runs over four innings in a spot-start against the Rangers on Thursday. The right-hander could make starts in the majors again before the end of 2025, but it’s hard to imagine he’ll provide any fantasy upside.

Even one run probably would have been too many tonight. Young allowed five hits, walked one and struck out two while falling to 0-2 with a 7.11 ERA in three starts this season. He’s likely to be sent back to Triple-A now.

Young is up to make a start against the Rangers on Wednesday and to give Tomoyuki Sugano some extra rest. The right-hander should be fully stretched out, but his lack of swing-and-miss stuff makes him hard to recommend as a streaming option for Wednesday’s battle.

Young, who has made three minor league starts since returning from a shoulder issue that cost him nearly a month, is expected to be activated to make a spot start Wednesday against the Rangers. Vavra, most likely, will only be added to the roster if Jordan Westburg (finger) requires an IL stint.

Young heads to the minor-league injured list after experiencing shoulder discomfort after his last start. It’s not a significant hit to Baltimore’s immediate starting pitching depth with Zach Eflin (lat) ready to return from the injured list this weekend. It doesn’t sound like he’s facing an extended absence, but he won’t be an option for the Orioles in the coming weeks.

Young heads down after walking five in his shaky start of the first game of a doubleheader against the Tigers on Saturday. The Orioles could give him another shot at some point, but fantasy managers will need to see some success before considering him for a roster spot. Grant Wolfram takes his roster spot.

Young’s low BB rate was one of his biggest strengths as a prospect, but he’s walked eight of the first 41 batters he’s faced as a major leaguer. He’ll surely get that under control if he’s given the chance to stick around, but it seems likely that he’ll head back to the minors after this.

Hyde added that everything is on the table, including moving Charlie Morton to the bullpen, in an effort to turn things around. They’ve also discussed the possibility of veteran Kyle Gibson coming up later this week to take the ball. It seems highly likely that Young will be re-inserted into Baltimore’s rotation later this week to start against the Tigers, but that’s not official yet. He allowed three runs over four innings last Saturday against the Reds in his big-league debut.

Young was just sent down on Sunday, but with Cody Poteet (shoulder inflammation) landing on the injured list, the Orioles can bring Young back up. Young allowed three runs over four innings against the Reds in his first MLB debut on Saturday and could remain in the rotation as the fifth starter for the time being.

Well, that was quick. Young has been shipped back to the minors after allowing three runs over four innings on Saturday against the Reds in his big-league debut. It’s unclear whether he’ll wind up returning later next week to make another start, but the Orioles are going to use his roster spot to fortify their bullpen for the next couple days. The 26-year-old righty has looked extremely sharp at the Triple-A level so far and figures to get another shot down the road.

He gave up seven hits, walked three and struck out three. Young’s 81 pitches produced a total of four whiffs, all of them coming on the changeup he threw 17 times. It wasn’t an outing that will lead to recommendations to pick him up in mixed leagues, but at least he’ll always be able to say he outpitched Hunter Greene in his major-league debut.

Young will take the ball on Saturday against the Reds for his highly-anticipated big-league debut. The 26-year-old top pitching prospect gets the call after posting a strong 2.76 ERA, 0.92 QHIP and 17/2 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings (three starts) for Triple-A Norfolk. There’s some legitimate streaming appeal here for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues based on his ability to miss bats. However, there’s also some significant risk as he acclimates to facing major-league hitters for the first time, especially since he relies on command as opposed to overpowering raw stuff.

Young will be making his MLB debut against Cincinnati. The 26-year-old has forged a 2.76 ERA and impressive 0.92 WHIP over three starts with Norfolk; thanks in large part to a 17/2 K/BB over 16 1/3 innings. He’d be a risky streaming option, but Baltimore should be able to give him some run support for those hunting for a win.
