Walker is removed from the 40-man roster to make room for a pair of new roster additions for Atlanta via waivers. The 31-year-old was just claimed off waivers from Baltimore last month, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if another club grabs him. If not, Walker will be eligible to elect free agency if he so chooses.

Molina is one of two new Atlanta hurlers, as the team also snatched Osvaldo Bido off waivers from the Athletics. Molina is only 23, and while he has not had any real success at the highest level, he’ll get a chance to prove he’s more than organizational depth this spring — assuming he sticks on the 40-man roster, of course.

Bido, 30, was successful in 2024 with a 3.47 ERA for the Athletics, but struggled in 2025 with a 5.87 mark over 79 2/3 innings. The right-hander will have a chance to earn a spot on the Atlanta staff in spring training.

Gamel split his 2025 season between the Tigers’ and Angels’ organizations where he slashed a healthy .281/.402/.539 with 10 homers, 26 RBI, two swipes and a 58/33 K/BB ratio over 214 plate appearances mostly at the Triple-A level. Given his strong defensive chops, there’s a chance that he could push for a reserve spot on the Braves’ Opening Day roster with a strong showing during Grapefruit League action.

Six years after the team made him a 15th-round pick, Pope, 27, made his major league debut with the Diamondbacks last season, pitching two scoreless innings in September. Alas, it wasn’t enough to prevent him from getting outrighted after the season. Pope also ended up with a 4.60 ERA and a 34/10 K/BB in 29 1/3 innings for Triple-A Reno. He’ll be a long shot to win a spot in the Braves bullpen next spring.

A split contract is an agreement in which the player will earn two different salaries depending on whether they are on the Major League Baseball roster or the Minor League Baseball roster. Young’s MLB salary would be for $925K in 2026. The left-hander pitched just 8 1/3 innings for the Mets in 2025 and had previously pitched for the Braves in 2023. In 60 2/3 MLB innings, he has a 4.01 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 78/25 K/BB ratio.

Acuña cut back on his running after returning from a torn ACL last season, finishing with nine steals in 95 games for the Braves, but he’s swiped six bags in just three games for the Tiburones. That seems like a big deal for his 2026 fantasy value, though running so much might make it more likely that he gets hurt again.

The 27-year-old right-hander spent each of the last three seasons in the Royals’ organization. In 2025, he posted a 4.46 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 45/17 K/BB ratio over 42 1/3 innings in 26 appearances at Triple-A Omaha. He’s likely ticketed for the bullpen at Triple-A Gwinnett to begin the 2026 campaign.

Hernández represents an interesting low-risk gamble for Atlanta heading into next season. The 30-year-old righty, who holds a pedestrian 5.10 ERA across 303 1/3 innings over 99 appearances (49 starts) in the majors since 2018, finished last season in Toronto’s system after two seasons pitching overseas for the LG Twins in Korea.

Acuña obviously couldn’t play for his hometown team last winter because he was recovering from an ACL tear, but this will be his third stint with La Guaira in the last four years. He hit .398/.524/.717 over 31 games in the first two.

The Braves got Payamps off waivers from the Brewers in late September, but he became a free agent after being outrighted earlier this month. Now he’s back at a $750,000 paycut from the $3 million he made last season. An excellent setup man for the Brewers in 2023 and ’24, Payamps got off to a poor start last season and spent much of the year in the minors. Still, his velocity was fine and his stuff-type numbers held steady, making him a decent bet to bounce back. Overall, he has a 3.46 ERA and a 160/44 K/BB in 156 innings over the last three years.

Hicklen bolsters Atlanta’s outfield depth behind Ronald Acuña Jr., Michael Harris II and Jurickson Profar heading into next season after spending time with the Phillies, Tigers and Brewers this past season. The 29-year-old got into one contest for Detroit and picked up his first big-league hit during that one. He’s likely ticketed for Triple-A Gwinnett, but figures to compete for a bench spot in spring training.

The financial terms of the deal are not yet available. Suarez did a nice job in limited work with Atlanta after coming over from Los Angeles, and should compete for one of the final spots in the rotation this spring.

Financial terms of the agreement have yet to be disclosed. White, 31, hit .234/.270/.406 with 10 homers, 35 RBI, 10 stolen bases and a 70/11 K/BB ratio in a career-high 271 plate appearances with the Braves in 2025. He’s once again expected to function in a reserve outfielder role in 2026, which limits his appeal for fantasy purposes.

Financial terms of the accord have yet to be reported. It’s the final season of arbitration-eligibility for the versatile 31-year-old who earned $5 million in his final season with the Astros in 2025. Dubón has an opportunity to serve as the Braves’ starting shortstop to open the 2026 campaign, provided the Braves don’t bring in another option this winter to challenge him.

No word yet on the financial terms of the deal. The 28-year-old southpaw was arbitration-eligible for the first time after registering a 5.60 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and a 92/43 K/BB ratio over 98 innings between the Pirates, Twins and Braves in 2025. Wentz pitched almost exclusively during his 14 appearances (13 starts) with the Braves in 2025, though he could be relegated to more of a swingman role in 2026.

The versatile 31-year-old was plucked from the Astros on Wednesday in a swap for Nick Allen. While the team would be thrilled with his defense at the position, Dubón posted a troublesome .644 OPS in 398 plate appearances with the Astros during the 2025 season. It sounded like nothing more than posturing, saying that the team was comfortable with Dubón there if they’re somehow unable to upgrade the position over the remainder of the offseason. One alternative could be reuniting with Ha-Seong Kim who declined his $16 million player option at the end of the season and hit the open market.

The agreement ostensibly eliminates Bruján from consideration as a non-tender candidate. The 27-year-old former top prospect has settled into a versatile reserve role in recent years and batted .244/.298/.302 with two steals in 59 games between the Braves, Orioles and Cubs this past season.

Jiménez missed all of 2025 after undergoing surgery on his left knee. Anthopoulos told reporters that the team won’t have an idea on Jiménez’s timeline until December or January. The 30-year-old will likely be a set-up option for the recently re-signed Raisel Iglesias whenever he can pitch, but there’s no guarantee he’ll be ready for the start of 2026.

Dubón was the utility Gold Glove winner for his work in 2025, and he’s capable of playing a multitude of positions. The 31-year-old has not been an effective offensive player for the past couple of seasons, however, and registered just a .644 OPS in 398 plate appearances with Houston last year. He’ll likely see playing time up the middle and in the outfield for Atlanta in 2026.

Iglesias was reportedly shown interest by a few other teams including the Blue Jays, but the 35-year-old will remain in the Atlanta organization. He got off to a horrific start, but he was one of the best relievers in baseball in the second half while finishing with 29 saves and a 3.21 ERA. There’s no reason to think that Iglesias won’t be the closer for Atlanta to begin — and likely end — the 2026 campaign.

Rolison, 28, was DFA’d by the Rockies yesterday. A 2018 first-round pick, he reached the majors for the first time in 2025 and had a 7.02 ERA and a 25/20 K/BB in 42 1/3 innings out of the pen as a rookie. That’s obviously discouraging, but his velocity has jumped since his move to the pen, and he could wind up being useful by continuing to lean into his plus curve.

Acuña made plenty of noise this past season in his return from another major knee injury, slashing .290/.417/.518 with 21 homers and nine steals over 95 games after rejoining Atlanta in late May from a torn ACL. The dynamic 27-year-old power/speed threat has now undergone two ACL surgeries in his career, yet his elite athleticism and production remain intact. He projects as a first-round pick in all fantasy drafts next spring.

Tromp appeared in eight games between the Orioles and Braves this past season as emergency catching depth. The 30-year-old backstop has been a mainstay in Atlanta’s catching stable for the last half-decade and will be with the club in spring training as insurance behind Drake Baldwin and Sean Murphy.

Thomas was lit up for 12 runs over 5 1/3 innings over a pair of relief appearances for the Brewers back in April before undergoing season-ending elbow surgery, which will keep him out until midway through next season. The 27-year-old pitching prospect represents a low-risk depth addition for Atlanta as organizational relief depth.

Deja vu. The Braves previously claimed Ragsdale off waivers from the Orioles on Sept. 17, DFA’d him on Sept. 22 and watched him get reclaimed by Baltimore on Sept. 25. Ragsdale, 27, was previously a Giants prospect who had a 5.22 ERA and a 77/48 K/BB in 89 2/3 innings in Triple-A last season. His strikeout rates were considerably better previously, and there’s still a chance his fastball, curve and splitter could make him a fifth starter or useful reliever. He has options remaining, so he’ll probably open 2026 in Triple-A.

The Orioles thought giving Walker a guaranteed one-year contract last week would help him clear waivers, but the Braves decided they’d take it on. Walker, 30, has a 6.59 ERA in 27 1/3 major league innings since debuting in 2023. He never pitched in the majors for the Orioles, who claimed him off waivers from the Phillies in August. That he’s out of options makes him less valuable as a fringe bullpen option.

Murphy underwent hip surgery in September. It sounds like there’s a good chance he’ll be unavailable on Opening Day, but hopefully for not too much longer than that. If the Braves do grow more concerned about Murphy’s readiness, they could add a modestly priced DH-type like Rhys Hoskins, Miguel Andujar or Rowdy Tellez. Fortunately, those kinds of players tend to sign pretty late. If Murphy does prove good to go, then then plan would be for he and Drake Baldwin to share time between catcher and DH.

It’s an extremely encouraging update after Schwellenbach landed on the injured list in early July with a fractured right elbow and didn’t return before season’s end. The dynamic 25-year-old righty holds a sparkling 3.23 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 235/41 K/BB ratio across 234 1/3 innings (38 starts) over the past two seasons. He’ll head into next spring as a top-20 fantasy starter.

Baldwin received 21 out of the 30 first-place votes, with nine going to Cade Horton, who finished in second place. Caleb Durbin finished third and Isaac Collins finished fourth in the NL ROY balloting. The 24-year-old backstop broke out as Atlanta’s primary catcher, slashing .270/.340/.470 with 19 homers and an .810 OPS across 124 games. He’s the first catcher to take home the hardware since Buster Posey back in 2010.
