Initially listed as probable due to a lingering hamstring issue, Brown will play Wednesday night. Look for him to assume his usual role as one of Boston’s offensive focal points. Brown’s availability for the weekend will be of interest for fantasy managers, as the Celtics end with a Friday/Saturday back-to-back.

While he hasn’t been as prolific a scorer as he was late last season, Grimes has reached double figures in all four games for the 76ers. On Tuesday, he knocked down three more three-pointers as part of a complete stat line that included five “stocks.” He’s rostered in 31 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and would make for a solid “add” to end Week 2 as Philadelphia plays on Friday and Sunday.

While Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe (14/6/4/1 with four three-pointers) have received most of the attention for Philadelphia’s 4-0 start, Oubre’s production has been valuable. He’s scored 17 points or more in three of the four games, recording his second consecutive double-double on Tuesday. The eventual return of Paul George (knee) may impact Oubre’s usage, but he’ll remain a fixture in the starting lineup. He’s only rostered in 22 percent of Yahoo! leagues. And with the Sixers playing twice within the final three days of Week 2, Oubre makes for a solid add before Friday’s games.

Back in the lineup after sitting out Monday’s win over the Magic, Embiid was supposed to be on a limit of 20 minutes. He played 23 against the Wizards, and the production was solid in a case of good news for fantasy managers. Embiid grabbed his 5,000th career rebound during the overtime victory and was a steal shy of a complete stat line while shooting over 50 percent from the field. While playing time may concern Embiid managers, Philadelphia’s goal is to do what it can to ensure he’s healthy for the stretch run.

Maxey has now scored at least 39 points in three of his first four games, and the 76ers are off to a 4-0 start. Asked to take on a larger leadership role, he has answered the call. Maxey attempted a season-high 16 free throws while shooting 44 percent from the field, and this was his first double-double of the season. The fantasy managers willing to use a late-first to draft Maxey have to feel good about that decision, based on how he’s played thus far.

Embiid is back after sitting out Monday’s win over the Magic. However, he’ll be limited to 20 minutes, so fantasy managers may not get the explosive outing they’re hoping for. Jabari Walker and Adem Bona will come off the bench after starting on Monday, with Edwards replacing the former. Washington has less size in its frontcourt than Orlando, so the 76ers are starting with a smaller lineup.

Watford will make his 76ers’ debut on Tuesday, giving Philadelphia another frontcourt option off the bench. Brown, who has dealt with the hamstring issue since the preseason, was initially questionable for Monday’s win over the Pelicans before playing 24 minutes in the blowout. The probable tag makes it likely that he’ll play, but the Celtics end their Week 2 schedule with a Friday/Saturday back-to-back against the 76ers and Rockets. Given the congested nature of Boston’s early-season schedule, those two games bear watching.

Simons served as Boston’s go-to-option during a fourth-quarter offensive surge that put the Pelicans away for good. He came off the bench to knock down six three-pointers, shooting nearly 50 percent from downtown to help the Celtics snap a three-game losing streak to open the season. The 26-year-old should have the green light all year in his Boston debut as they’ll need to unleash a barrage of three pointers each night to have any chance of overcoming their size disadvantage on the glass.

Brown came into this one questionable with a left hamstring strain that he’s been playing through since the preseason after reaching the 40-point plateau for the 12th time in his career during Sunday’s loss to the Pistons. The Celtics were able to lean on Anfernee Simons and a couple additional role players down the stretch as they pulled away for an easy win.

Maxey’s early-season hot streak continued in this one as he put the metaphorical exclamation point on Philadelphia’s impressive win by scoring on three consecutive possessions in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter to eclipse the 40-point plateau for the second time in three games to open the season. He poured in 22 first-half points, knocking down eight of his first 18 shots from the field and was even better down the home stretch to help Philadelphia hold off a late comeback effort by the Magic. He’s clearly surpassed teammate Joel Embiid as the 76ers’ primary offensive catalyst moving forward as he continues to blossom into one of the most prolific scorers in the entire league.

Edgecombe continues to be extremely impressive from a shot creation standpoint as he’s taken full advantage of his opportunities to make something happen with the ball in his hands. He took just four three-pointers in this one but still came close to reaching the 30-point threshold for the second time in his first three games of his career. He was extremely efficient overall, shooting just under 59 percent from the field. The third overall pick from the 2025 NBA Draft looked like an outstanding complementary scorer alongside Tyrese Maxey and is poised to make a significant fantasy impact as reliable scorer in his rookie season.

One of the priority waiver wire adds during the opening week of the fantasy basketball season, Grimes saw expanded minutes with Joel Embiid (knee) and Paul George (knee) out. He poured in 11 first-half points, thanks in large part to a trio of three-pointers. He was fouled on a three-point attempt with just under five minutes left in the contest and sank all three free throws after the Magic cut the lead down to just two points with a late rally. He’s done a nice job stuffing the stat sheet in the early stages of the regular season, which gives him relevance for fantasy purposes until George gets back on the court.

Following Sunday’s loss to the Pistons, Brown said he planned on playing in Monday’s game. However, the Celtics have listed him as questionable on the injury report, with left hamstring strain reconditioning being the reason. With the Celtics off to their worst start since the 2013-14 season, there’s likely a strong desire on Brown’s part to play. However, he’s averaging 35.7 minutes per game, which would be his highest average since the 2022-23 campaign if that were to hold. Derrick White, Payton Pritchard and Anfernee Simons will shoulder even more of the offensive workload if Brown sits.

Brown scored 41 points on Sunday, but his efforts weren’t enough to keep Boston from falling to 0-3 for the first time since the 2013-14 season. Despite some tightness in his hamstring during the game, Brown said he plans to play against the Pelicans on Monday. While this is encouraging for fantasy managers to hear, they should plan on Brown showing up on the injury report. If he can’t play, Derrick White, Payton Pritchard and Anfernee Simons will have heightened importance for the Celtics.

What more does Brown have to do to get the Celtics a win this season? Boston moves to 0-3 on the season despite one of the better performances of Brown’s career. The 29-year-old small forward had 41 points and five threes in the loss to the Pistons. With Jayson Tatum (Achilles) out and the Celtics losing Jrue Holiday this past offseason, Brown should be counted on for more scoring this year like he was on Sunday against the Pistons. Unfortunately for Celtics fans, it hasn’t translated into any wins yet on the young season.

Grimes was quiet in the season opener, scoring only 10 points in 32 minutes. However, he got hot in this one, and his offense was needed for the 76ers to move to 2-0. Grimes was awesome to finish last season, but his role is different with this team healthy and VJ Edgecombe in town.
