After two straight poor shooting night which yielded a total of 15 points from Washington, he got back on track in a big way against Houston. He shattered his previous season-high of 18 points and recorded his first double-double of the year. Washington won’t have nights like this one often, but it was a strong performance from him. He’s now currently averaging a career-high in points, rebounds, assists and blocks, though that likely won’t continue. Still, it shows how his usage has increased with Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis both sidelined.

Two days after Russell set a new season-high for scoring, he provided offense off the bench in a different form by setting a new season-high for assists. Though Russell is still in a reserve role, he’ll continue to be important on offense until Kyrie Irving (knee) returns to the lineup, which is still months away. He’ll have inefficient nights like this one, but he’ll still play a large role consistently; he has played at least 29 minutes in four of the Mavericks’ last five games.

Prior to the game, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said Gafford would remain on a minutes restriction of 15-18 minutes. However, he ended up playing 25 minutes in this one despite playing through right ankle discomfort in the second half. He tweaked the same ankle that had him sidelined to start the season, though he downplayed it after the game. It doesn’t seem like it will be an issue moving forward and exceeding the minutes restriction is a good sign that he’ll be more available moving forward.

The Thunder remained undefeated on the season, and Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with another game of at least 30 points scored — his sixth time going over 30 in the first seven games of the season. The reigning league MVP was very efficient on Sunday, finding a good chunk of production from the free-throw line and ultimately saw his night end after just 30 minutes, thanks to a large OKC lead during the fourth quarter. SGA has gotten off to another strong start to begin the season and could very well find himself in MVP talks again.

Wallace has been one of the league’s most active defenders so far through the first couple of weeks of the season. He notched a season-high in steals on Sunday, which marked the third time this season he’s collected at least four steals in a game. He also made multiple three-pointers and finished Sunday’s contest as one of eight Thunder players to score in double figures. The third-year guard has followed a nice sophomore campaign with a productive start to Year 3.

Injured during the first week of the preseason, Gafford made his season debut on Saturday. He was restricted to 15-18 minutes, and the Mavericks center started and played 17. Dwight Powell (five points, six rebounds and one assist) played 19 minutes off the bench, which may be the split for the Mavericks’ centers for the next few games. Gafford’s fantasy value moving forward will depend on how his ankle responds following games, and when Dereck Lively II (knee) and Anthony Davis (calf) are healthy enough to play.
