Due to an illness, Williams had to leave Thursday’s loss to the Jazz after playing nine minutes. His absence on Saturday should mean more minutes for Ryan Nembhard, who played 22 minutes against Utah. The rookie still has not returned to the point where he should be streamed in fantasy leagues, but that may change later in the season.

Davis injured his left hand during the fourth quarter of Thursday’s loss to the Jazz. According to Charania, a second opinion on the injury’s severity will be sought. If surgery is required, Davis could miss “a number of months.” With the Mavericks’ forward/center being the subject of trade rumors, an extended absence would likely put those to rest. As for Dallas’ approach to the rest of the season, losing Davis could affect Kyrie Irving’s return from the ACL tear he suffered last March. Dallas’s first-round pick in June’s draft is the last one that they’ll have complete control over until 2031, so the front office could decide that punting on the rest of this season is in the franchise’s best interest.

Thompson needed just 13 shots to tie season-highs in points and three-pointers on Thursday. His production didn’t come in bunches; it was spread throughout the game, with at least five points in each quarter. Additionally, the four-time NBA champion set a new season-high in assists and finished second on the team in that department. Thompson’s second season in Dallas has featured several highs and lows, but Thursday’s game marked a trend in the right direction after failing to score in double figures in the three previous games.

Flagg came within two assists of his first-career triple-double, as he collected double-digit rebounds for the fourth time this season, and reached 25 points or more for the seventh time. The rookie sensation also came through on the defensive end — there, he finished with four stocks and tied a career-high in steals. Flagg has enjoyed a stellar first NBA season. His trajectory could lead him to become one of the most productive fantasy players for years to come.

Davis was effective in his 35 minutes of game action, finishing as one of three Mavericks players to score at least 20 points and one of two to collect double-digit rebounds. Thursday’s double-double marked his 13th of the season. However, the veteran big man exited the floor late in the fourth quarter after suffering a hand injury and didn’t return. His status moving forward will certainly be worth monitoring from a fantasy basketball standpoint.

Williams played nine minutes in the first half, tallying two points (1-of-4 FGs), three rebounds and one assist. It had been a subpar stretch for George, but this game could help him get back on track. This matched his second-highest scoring total of the season, and it was his first time scoring at least 20 points since mid-December. Embiid has been on a scoring tear recently, and this game kept that going. He only played 25 minutes, though he didn’t end up needing to play the fourth quarter for the 76ers to get the win. This was his ninth straight game with at least 20 points, and he has scored at least 25 in seven of those. Embiid still isn’t producing consistently in other categories, but he’s clearly still one of the best scoring options in the NBA.

Over his last five games, Edgecombe is averaging 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 3.4 steals, 1.2 blocks and 3.6 three-pointers per game. Williams entered Tuesday shooting a career-worst 18.8 percent from beyond the arc. However, his struggles did not prevent Cooper Flagg from passing the ball to the Mavericks’ guard, whose three-pointer with 33.9 seconds remaining proved to be the game-winning shot. Just as encouraging for the few who did not drop Williams is that his playing time has been solid recently. Despite coming off the bench, he’s played at least 24 minutes in five straight games, while Ryan Nembhard (three rebounds and four assists) has lost significant playing time and been bumped to the bench. For those who held onto Williams, keep doing so.

Davis didn’t have a good night shooting the basketball, but rebounds and blocked shots helped compensate. The 16 rebounds were one shy of his season-high, and the Mavericks’ forward/center has blocked seven shots over his last two games. With Daniel Gafford (10 points, 13 rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot) in the starting lineup, Davis can lurk more defensively, giving more opportunities to block shots from the weak side. While being the lone big on the floor may boost Davis’ offensive value, sharing the court with another big helps him defensively.

Flagg’s second stint as the primary playmaker in Dallas’ starting lineup has gone well. Through two games, the rookie has recorded 12 assists with just three turnovers. One of his six helpers on Tuesday set up Brandon Williams’ game-winning three-pointer with 33.9 seconds remaining. If Flagg can continue on this path of efficient playmaking, reaching his Yahoo! There was an injury scare during Tuesday’s game, as Flagg left during the third quarter after banging knees with Sacramento’s Precious Achiuwa. However, after some time on the exercise bike, the rookie was back on the court later in the quarter.

Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd’s decision to drop Ryan Nembhard to the bench did not result in Williams being moved into the starting lineup. However, he played 24 minutes, while Nembhard (five points, three assists and one three-pointer) played 13. Neither guard has been exceptionally reliable in fantasy basketball this season, with both ranked outside the top-200 in eight- and nine-cat formats.
