Green did not provide much value as a scorer, which is par for his course. But he was impactful in other ways, including recording a team-high 10 assists and four “stocks.” With Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler leading the way offensively, Green’s mastery of the “little things” will be critical in Golden State’s first-round matchup with Houston. Game 1 is on Sunday night.

While his injured right thumb remains problematic, it did not keep Curry from showing up when it mattered most on Tuesday. The Warriors guard scored 15 of the team’s final 19 points, as Golden State avoided blowing a game they led by as much as 20. Curry shot 3-of-4 from beyond the arc during the fourth quarter, and his two free throws with 3.4 seconds remaining sealed the outcome. Golden State’s reward is much-needed time off and a matchup with the Rockets. Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday in Houston.

Tuesday’s Play-In tournament matchup was not an official playoff game, but it was the Warriors fans’ official introduction to Butler as a postseason weapon. While he did not record the best free-throw percentage, racking up 18 attempts cannot be ignored. Butler has added a needed dimension to the Warriors on both ends of the floor, especially offensively. His ability to work out of the post and get to the foul line will be vital in the playoffs, which the Warriors will begin on Sunday in Houston in a 2/7 matchup.

Butler injured his thigh during Sunday’s overtime loss to the Clippers. He played through it and said after that he would play against Memphis, and the initial injury report lines up with his statement. Butler should see a heavy workload in a matchup to make the playoffs and take on the Rockets in the first round.

Butler’s final stat line on Sunday was outstanding but came with some pain. He took a Kawhi Leonard knee to the left thigh during overtime but stayed in the game. That injury, combined with Stephen Curry’s right thumb, is why the Warriors could have used the time off that would have come with a victory over the Clippers. Instead, Butler and the Warriors will host the Grizzlies on Tuesday. Following the game, Butler said he was fine and will be in the lineup, but don’t be surprised if Jimmy is on the initial injury report.

While the addition of Jimmy Butler has negatively impacted Jonathan Kuminga’s (DNP-CD on Sunday) playing time and fantasy value, that has not been the case for Podziemski. The second-year guard has played well since the February trade deadline, providing eighth-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats. Podziemski’s emergence will be key for the Warriors, as they’ll need to beat Memphis on Tuesday to earn the seventh seed in the West. Houston will be the first-round opponent for the winner of that game, while the loser plays the Sacramento/Dallas winner for the eighth seed.

Curry has been dealing with a right thumb injury, the severity of which has not been made public. With that in mind, it would have been nice for the Warriors to win Sunday’s game, as they would have avoided the play-in tournament. Instead, they’ll host Memphis on Tuesday, with the winner being the seventh seed in the West. The good news for Curry and the Warriors was that he shot the ball well on Sunday, but he must clean up the turnovers after committing eight against the Clippers.

After missing Friday’s game against the Suns, Johnson was available for San Antonio’s season finale. He ended up being their leading scorer off the bench to help them end the year on a high note. Johnson’s season was disappointing as his points, rebounds, assists, three-pointers and minutes all took a big hit. He averaged just 12.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 triples in a 23.9 minutes per game, though he was available for 77 games. He may not be a great fantasy option, but Johnson is a really strong reserve scorer for a Spurs team that should make a return to the postseason next year.

Though he didn’t have an efficient shooting performance, Castle was able to close out his rookie season on a high note. This was his eighth-straight game with at least five assists, and he has scored at least 20 points in four of those games. Castle will likely be named the Rookie of the Year for this season, and he has a bright future ahead of him. However, while he will have a good chance to start for the Spurs next season, he may not make the same statistical impact with the rest of the team healthy.

Paul has had another solid season, though it has gone under the radar at times. However, with an appearance on Sunday, Paul was able to play in all 82 games for just the second time in his career. That is wildly impressive for a point guard who will turn 40 years old next month. Paul is nowhere near as productive as he once was, but he is still one of the best passers in the league at his age. As long as he is playing, there won’t be many players in the league who can match his combination of assists and steals with limited turnovers. Paul is a free agent this offseason and should be able to find a home if he wants to continue playing — his fantasy value will probably hinge on what kind of role he can find.

Vassell will miss San Antonio’s final two games, a somewhat fitting end to his 2024-25 campaign. Due to injury, he missed 14 of the Spurs’ first 19 games and struggled to get going once wholly healthy. The good news for fantasy managers is that Vassell was far more impactful after the All-Star break, which enabled him to finish as a top-100 player in eight- and nine-cat formats. Hield isn’t going to surprise anyone at this point of his career. The 32-year-old shooting guard only played 23 minutes, but he took as many shots as anyone on the Warriors with 14 attempts. Hield made four three-pointers on his way to 16 points and didn’t provide much in the other categories. His role isn’t going to expand next year, but he can still fit the right fantasy team builds as largely a three-point specialist.

Butler’s two steals Friday made it eight games in a row with multiple swipes for the 35-year-old small forward. Butler also took on a larger scoring role with Stephen Curry re-aggravating a thumb injury. He poured in 24 points on 10 shots. Butler once again had a friendly whistle getting to the foul line 11 times and making all of his free throws. He also dished out seven assists for the second-straight game. Butler continues to excel with the Warriors since coming over from the Heat midseason.

With Harrison Barnes shut down at halftime, Mamukelashvili started the second half of Friday’s game. The 2021 second-round pick had a productive night, shooting over 50 percent from the field and finishing one block shy of a complete stat line. But there should still be plenty of playing time available to Mamukelashvili, who can provide value in those situations.

The betting favorite for Rookie of the Year honors, Castle finished Friday’s defeat with his sixth double-double. He also only committed two turnovers, efficiently making plays for his teammates. Chris Paul (one assist and two blocks) only played 14 minutes on Friday; his focus is on playing all 82 games. Champagnie started Friday’s game as Devin Vassell was out with a sore left ankle. Add in Harrison Barnes (two points, five rebounds and one assist) only playing 15 minutes, and there was ample room for Champagnie to put up numbers. He’s scored 20 points or more in four games this season, one more than his first two NBA seasons combined. While Barnes will likely start Sunday’s season finale against the Raptors, his minutes will likely be limited since the goal is to play all 82 games. That raises Champagnie’s ceiling, especially if Vassell remains out.

Curry made the wrong kind of personal history on Sunday. The three points are the fewest he’s scored in a game in which he’s attempted at least 10 shots in his NBA career. The Rockets used multiple defenders on Curry throughout Sunday’s game, and they were able to shut him down. Houston’s success may be bad news for the Suns, who will host the Warriors on Tuesday. After scoring 54 points across his prior two appearances, Podziemski was not as prolific against the Rockets. That’s unsurprising, as Houston boasts one of the best defenses in the NBA. Podziemski still shot 50 percent from the field and made four three-pointers. Over the past two weeks, Podziemski has provided fourth-round value in eight- and nine-cat formats and has meshed well within the Warriors’ starting lineup since the addition of Jimmy Butler.

With Stephen Curry having a historically poor night, Hield was one of the Warriors who attempted to shoulder some of the workload. The 20 points were the most he’s scored in a game since March 10, when he hit that number in a win over the Trail Blazers. Castle has scored 22 points in four of his last seven appearances, including Sunday’s performance. However, efficiency remains an issue, with the rookie shooting 40.5 percent from the field over the past two weeks. For just the fourth time this season, Curry shot double-digit free throws, and the Warriors are now 4-0 when he does. In fact, his 14 attempts were a new season-high and the most he has shot in a game since 2021. This performance came on the heels of him scoring 52 points with 12 triples in a win over Memphis, and while Curry didn’t replicate that type of production, his 37 points with only four threes was still impressive.
