Williams made his first start of the season on Wednesday, and all that was missing from his final stat line was a three-pointer. He shot the ball well from the field and was active as a rebounder and defender. Some fantasy managers were unwilling to roll the dice on Williams due to his injury history, as he’s yet to play 50 games in a season. While that will remain a concern until he proves he can stay healthy, Williams is off to a good start in Phoenix. He’s providing top-50 value in nine-cat formats, exceeding his Yahoo! ADP of 83.

Not on the radar for many fantasy managers during draft season, Gillespie has emerged as a reputable deep-league option. He recorded a complete stat line against the Grizzlies and played 31 minutes off the bench. Gillespie, who’s rostered in 10 percent of Yahoo! leagues, has clearly earned the trust of Suns head coach Jordan Ott. And with the Suns playing two more games during Week 2, adding Gillespie wouldn’t be a bad idea for deep-league managers needing a point guard.

O’Neale has made at least two three-pointers in each of the Suns’ five games, but he’s kicked things up a notch with Dillon Brooks (groin) unavailable. A starter in Phoenix’s last two games, the veteran forward is a combined 11-of-23 from beyond the arc. O’Neale’s performance on Wednesday was closer to the norm than his showing against the Jazz two nights prior, but he’s worth rostering until Brooks is cleared to return.

Booker was 10-of-26 from the field on Wednesday, but an 11-of-26 night would have meant a Suns victory. His three-pointer just before time expired missed the mark, dropping Phoenix to 1-4 on the season. Thus far, Booker is ranked outside the top-100 in nine-cat formats, with turnovers being the issue. He committed three against the Grizzlies but averages nearly five per game on the season. Booker has only averaged four or more turnovers per game once in his career, so fantasy managers should not be too concerned.

Zubac finished Tuesday’s defeat with his first double-double of the season, hitting double digits in the rebounds category. During the preseason, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue said he believed Zubac played too much last season. After averaging 32.8 minutes per game in 2024-25, out of necessity due to the Clippers’ shallow interior rotation, Big Zu has averaged 27.6 minutes over the first week. A few of the games being blowouts has been a factor, as was the addition of Brook Lopez (3/2/1 in 19 minutes). While Zubac has a safe fantasy floor, his ceiling will take a hit if he can’t consistently play 30 minutes.

Leonard may have been the Clippers’ second-leading scorer on Tuesday, but this was a relatively quiet performance from the six-time All-Star. He shot 4-of-10 from the field in the first half and provided limited value outside of points and rebounds. Through four games, Leonard has been what many fantasy managers expected him to be, providing fourth-round value in nine-cat formats. The hope is that he’s consistently available, which would significantly raise Leonard’s fantasy ceiling.

Defensively, the Warriors limited Harden’s ability to get his teammates quality shots. He recorded just one assist and missed all three of his field-goal attempts in the second half. Gillespie took on a starting role late last season for the Suns, but he has started this year in a reserve role. That hasn’t led to much production, but he shined brightly in this one. He set a new career-high for assists and turned in a full stat line. Allen has filled in nicely in place of Jalen Green, who has yet to make his debut for the Suns due to a hamstring injury. He has hit 15 three-pointers through four games, which was what we anticipated. The added boost has been the assists; he is averaging 5.5 per game, which far exceeds any previous season average. Williams has been coming off the bench for the Suns, but he played a much larger role than Oso Ighodaro, who only played 13 minutes as the starting center. That worked out well for the Suns, as Williams was able to tip the ball back in at the end of regulation to force overtime. Booker had some magic at the end of regulation, knocking down two contested threes that helped the Suns comeback from down seven with 20 seconds left to force overtime. They weren’t able to get the job done in overtime, but it ended up being the best performance of the year for him. Booker set new season highs for points, assists and three-pointers while setting a new season low for turnovers. With Dillon Brooks sidelined with a groin injury, O’Neale was able to fill in as a starter and ended up turning in a productive line. After only taking 10 shots in the Suns’ previous game, Booker was more aggressive on the offensive end in this one and was able to get back over the 30-point threshold. He also increased his assist count over the last two games, though a new season-high for turnovers came with that. Grayson Allen didn’t shoot well from the field on Friday, but made an impact with his passing for a second straight game. He leads the Suns in assists through two games and scored in double figures in each of those contests. Booker’s Friday performance was a bit quieter than the 31-point outing against the Kings in the season opener. He was limited to 10 field goal attempts against the Clippers and had to rely on the free-throw line for a good chunk of his scoring. Booker was impactful as a passer, though, as he led Phoenix in assists and flirted with a double-double. He’ll presumably have better performances in the near future, with a chance to bounce back on Saturday against the Nuggets.

Brooks was accurate on high volume from beyond the arc on Friday, which allowed him to tally at least 20 points for the second straight game. The total output was enough to lead the team in scoring, which isn’t shocking when also considering Jalen Green’s absence. He repeatedly stepped into his three-point shots confidently and proceeded to knock each catch-and-shoot triple down one after the other. Leonard bounced back from a poor 10-point, 3-of-9 shooting performance in the Clippers’ blowout loss to the Jazz on Wednesday by nearly scoring 30 in a one-sided win over the Suns on Friday. The two-time Finals MVP ramped things up in the second quarter on the offensive end, which gave him the boost that ultimately led him to finish as one of the two highest scorers in the game. Harden needed only 28 minutes to reach 30 points on Friday, using high efficiency on low volume, and production from the free-throw line to do so. Due to his minutes restriction, Williams was used in a reserve role in his Suns’ debut Wednesday night. He didn’t do much scoring, but the fourth-year center was effective as a rebounder and shot-blocker. Oso Ighodaro (7/4/1) started and played 19 minutes, with Nick Richards (eight points and three rebounds) playing the other five. Rookie Khaman Maluach was the odd man out against the Kings, picking up a DNP-CD. One would think the center rotation will shrink even more as Williams continues ramping up. While he’s worth having rostered in redraft leagues, the other three center options in Phoenix are not.

Working as hard defensively as Brooks does, there may be a little more freedom offensively, even if that isn’t always the best approach. With Jalen Green (hamstring) still unavailable, more shots are available for Suns not named Devin Booker. Brooks took full advantage in his official Suns debut, firing up 24 shots. The issue for him was the three-point shooting. While Brooks shot 50 percent from two, he was just 1-of-8 from three. A career 35.5 percent shooter, Brooks made 39.7 percent of his three-point attempts last season. However, Wednesday’s poor three-point shooter should not detract from Brooks’ all-around performance, which was one reason why the Suns erased a 17-point deficit and took home the victory. He isn’t the best fantasy option, but there should be room for Brooks on deep-league rosters due to the role he’s being asked to fill.

Initially probable for Wednesday’s game with a sore hip, Allen played 36 minutes without any issues. Starting in place of the injured Jalen Green (hamstring), Allen was effective, especially making plays for others. Allen led the Suns in assists, and the seven helpers were the most in a game for him since January 31 against the Warriors. Add in the scoring and rebounding, and Wednesday’s performance was a reminder of Allen’s fantasy value on nights when he starts and plays heavy minutes. However, that may change soon, as Green might be able to play during Phoenix’s three-game road trip that begins on Friday against the Clippers.

Booker missed five free throws in Wednesday’s season opener, but that’s probably the lone complaint you’ll hear from those who have him rostered. The fact that the Suns’ star got to the foul line that often while also attempting 19 field goals says a lot about what he was able to do offensively. Booker may have some help soon, as Jalen Green (hamstring) could return during Phoenix’s upcoming three-game road trip. While Booker can certainly shoulder the offensive workload, the Suns’ best chance of success is for him to have consistent help. Others stepped up against the Kings, and getting Green on the floor should help moving forward.

In one of the biggest upsets of Wednesday’s NBA action, the Clippers didn’t show up for the season opener in Utah. Leonard wasn’t without blame in this one.
