While James did fall hard on his left elbow during Thursday’s loss to the Nuggets, arthritis in his left foot has been the bigger issue for the 41-year-old. He’s missed the last two games, and after not practicing on Monday, James’s having to sit out Tuesday’s game against the Timberwolves is a real possibility. Rui Hachimura has moved into the starting lineup and should retain that role until LeBron returns.

Murphy had another excellent game. The 25-year-old small forward led the Pelicans with 24 points on their way to a 20-point victory. The lone negative was that he exited with an upper back injury, but the Pelicans forward was on the bench with his teammates after having ice applied to the area. Since the start of February, Murphy has averaged 24.1 points and 4.7 assists. He’s also shooting 49 percent from the field and 48 percent from the three-point line in that time. It’s an open secret that Dončić’s favorite spot on the court to shoot from is the left wing, but he took it to the extreme against the Knicks on Sunday. Early in the third quarter, Dončić made a three-pointer on the left wing off one leg while he was falling out of bounds. He was just 5-of-16 from behind the three-point line on the day, but that one shot was symbolic of dominance over the Knicks on Sunday. The combination of the Lakers winning by a comfortable margin and foul trouble limited Reaves to 29 minutes on Friday. In fact, he fouled out for the second time in his career and the first since January 13, 2024. With no LeBron James and Austin Reaves in foul trouble, Dončić shouldered even more of the workload on Friday. He came out hot, scoring 22 points in the first quarter. Given how much the Lakers rely on their star point guard, any opportunities to get additional rest are welcome. Deandre Ayton played just five minutes in the first half of this game before exiting with a knee injury, though the Lakers declined to specify which knee was bothering him. Though Dončić continues to fill up the counting stats, he’s having an issue that doesn’t show up in the box score in a way that directly alters fantasy matchups. He was whistled for his 15th technical foul of the season after being whistled for his 14th on Tuesday. Now, he sits just one technical away from serving a one-game suspension. The Lakers have two more games this week and have a three-game week after that, which would make the timing difficult for managers that are relying on him in the fantasy playoffs.
