No surprise here as Davis is set to miss his eighth consecutive game with a calf injury. The 32-year-old power forward is progressing in his recovery and participated in on-court work on Thursday, signaling that a return isn’t far off. The Mavericks are in a tough spot in the frontcourt with Davis and P.J. Washington (shoulder) out and Dereck Lively II on a minutes limit.

Flagg had a well-rounded performance against the Suns. He found production on the glass and made plays for others through his passing, while tallying five stocks on the defensive end. His scoring was also notable, despite his struggles from the field. Regardless, he showed how versatile he can be on both ends of the floor, and continues to be one of the Mavericks’ bright spots in what’s been a rough start to the season.

Gafford had one of his more productive games of the season against the Suns, logging a season-high in rebounds while tying a season-high in points. He contributed on the defensive end with a few stocks and registered an efficient shooting performance after having shot 2-of-8 from the floor on Monday. While his final stats on Wednesday weren’t jaw-dropping, it had to feel good for Gafford to have a productive line after struggling in the three prior games.

Williams replaced Ja Morant in the starting lineup on Wednesday and had an up-and-down performance in his 25 minutes. He did well on the glass and flashed some facilitating skills, but shot inefficiently from beyond the arc during the blowout loss. Aldama was one of the most productive Grizzlies against the Celtics on Wednesday. Jackson Jr. played just 23 minutes on Wednesday, thanks to the score being one-sided, in favor of the Celtics. He led the Grizzlies in scoring and led the team in field-goal attempts along the way. While Morant looked better in Friday’s win over the Mavericks, all isn’t fine for the Grizzlies’ point guard. Despite not shooting well from either inside or beyond the arc, Morant volumed his way to his first 20-point game of November. Ja Morant wasn’t the only culprit in the Grizzlies’ loss to the Rockets on Wednesday. Jackson had his lowest scoring output of the season with nine points on six attempts from the field. This was just the second time in eight games that the 26-year-old power forward shot worse than 50 percent in a game. Jackson is certainly better than this, but if he was more aggressive in getting shots up he wouldn’t have to be so efficient to get his points. If the Grizzlies are going to stop this three-game losing streak from growing, they’re going to need Jackson, who they signed to a max contract this offseason, to step up.
