Landale made his fourth start and set a new season-high in points during his 24 minutes of game action. His production came with a perfect shooting percentage and was highlighted by his first game of the season with multiple three-point makes. Jackson Jr. did the bulk of his scoring in the beginning and end of Monday’s contest, but really struggled to make an impact on offense during the middle two quarters. He still found a way to score at least 15 points for the fourth time in as many games to begin the season, but tallied a season-low in points while shooting under 50.0 percent from the field for the first time. Inefficient shooting prevented Morant from a more stellar stat line on Monday — he made fewer than half of his two-pointers and missed all of his six attempts from beyond the arc. The superstar guard was able to take advantage of the free-throw line, however, and impressed as a facilitator throughout the game. Ultimately, he finished just one assist shy of the double-double against the Warriors but will have a chance to log his first of the season against the Suns on Wednesday.

It was extremely surprising that New Orleans was unable to take advantage of Boston’s undersized frontcourt in this one, even with Zion Williamson out with a left foot bone bruise, as they wound up being outscored 46-38 in the paint. Murphy shot just 27 percent from the floor and failed to connect on all four three-point attempts as he failed to reach double-digit points for the first time this season.

The seventh overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Fears made his first career start in this one and it didn’t go swimmingly. The 19-year-old rookie missed all four of his three-point attempts, committed four turnovers and finished a staggering minus 31 on the night. After looking good in the Pelicans’ first two games, Williamson has landed on the injury report with a bone contusion in his left foot. While the severity of the injury is unknown, Zion’s dealing with another lower-body injury is concerning. He most recently played 37 minutes in a loss to the Spurs on Friday. Small played 21 minutes in the blowout win, but this is still an important data point, even if he won’t play that much regularly. With Ty Jerome (calf) and Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe) set to miss extended periods of time, Small is the backup behind Ja Morant, who has been managing an ankle injury. The rookie was impressive in his first two games, but this performance took things up a notch. Coward made all six of his attempts from deep to lead both teams in scoring. Though there hasn’t been much of an answer for Zion through two games, it hasn’t resulted in any wins for New Orleans. Still, it’s good to see him healthy and available. He’s always dominant when he’s on the floor, so it’s no surprise that he’s been fantastic early on this year, even if his field goal percentage is lower than it has typically been. He also has eight steals through two games. He has averaged at least one steal in three straight seasons, but if he can increase that average, this can be the best fantasy finish of his career.

All eight of Wells’ shot attempts were from beyond the arc Wednesday night, which is somewhat surprising given the Grizzlies’ need to account for the offense lost when Desmond Bane was traded to Orlando. As a rookie, Wells had a three-point rate of 58 percent, so spending most of his time on the perimeter isn’t a departure from the norm. Hopefully, he’ll be more aggressive on offense as the season progresses, because the Grizzlies will need him to be.

Coward was impressive in his debut, especially defensively. The rookie was a pest on that end of the floor, and the three “stocks” don’t tell the entire story. Add in a highly efficient scoring effort, and the Grizzlies and fantasy managers were likely encouraged by what they saw. Coward’s perimeter shot is a work in progress, but that’s due to him returning from a torn rotator cuff rather than an inability to shoot. It would be unsurprising if Coward could turn his perimeter shot into a credible weapon down the line.

Jackson did have to deal with some foul trouble, but that did not prevent him from putting up a big number in the blocks category. The six rejections were two shy of his career-high, and JJJ was productive as a rebounder and scorer. If there’s one thing Fears can do at a pro level right now, it’s score. The rookie had a good night shooting the basketball, making 70 percent of his attempts. Unfortunately, Fears did not produce much beyond the points, as he missed his lone three-point attempt. However, he was able to get downhill on multiple occasions. With Fears playing 18 minutes, there was no room for Jose Alvarado in the rotation, with the veteran point guard picking up a DNP-CD. That isn’t the expectation for him, especially with Dejounte Murray (Achilles) unavailable.
