The 40-year-old and not appeared in a game so far this season as he battles sciatica. Progressing to contact drills is certainly a good sign, and the team says he’ll be reevaluated in approximately 1-2 weeks. Given his age and the desire to have him healthy for the postseason, it seems fair to assume that the team may wait another two weeks for that evaluation and to update his timeline. Luca Doncic and Austin Reaves will continue to carry the load for the Lakers in the meantime.

For the first time this season, Ayton has recorded double-doubles in consecutive games. Faced with the challenging task of defending Victor Wembanyama, the Lakers center held his own and provided his team with needed production in the frontcourt. Thus far, Ayton has been a top-100 player in eight- and nine-cat formats, proving to be slightly more valuable in the former. There remains the question of what his role will look like once LeBron James is available to play, but Ayton is in a good spot right now.

Back in the Lakers’ starting lineup after sitting out Monday’s win over Portland, Dončić finished one rebound shy of a triple-double. And he made some history, becoming the first Laker to accumulate at least 35 points, 10 assists and five steals in a single game (steals did not become an official stat until 1973-74). Luka’s five steals matched his career-high, and he also blocked two shots. Sure, he missed four free throws, but the overall line more than compensated for that.

Randle continued his hot start to the season with an excellent showing in his second game at Madison Square Garden since being traded by the Knicks last September. He’s scored 30 points or more on three of his last four games, with Wednesday being the first in which Randle shared the floor with Anthony Edwards. With Ant-Man back from a strained hamstring, it’s fair to wonder how Randle’s production will be impacted. However, he’s been a top-10 player thus far, and that isn’t only because of what Randle’s done when Edwards hasn’t been available.

Anthony Edwards’ return from a strained hamstring did not impact DiVincenzo much on Wednesday, as he remained in his usual spot in the starting lineup. And the “Big Ragu” did not disappoint, finishing a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. DiVincenzo, who’s rostered in 40 percent of Yahoo! leagues, has been close to a top-50 player in nine-cat formats. Locked into a starting role, he should be rostered in a higher percentage of fantasy leagues.

Back in the Timberwolves’ lineup after missing four games with a strained hamstring, Edwards appeared to be a bit rusty at times. However, that’s understandable, even for a player of his caliber. Edwards recorded a solid overall stat line, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Timberwolves within striking distance in the fourth quarter. Minnesota plays twice more during Week 3, with the second game being part of a Sunday/Monday back-to-back. However, with Ant-Man not restricted on Wednesday, back-to-backs may not be a problem for him.

Smith signed a two-way deal with the Lakers in September after being waived by the Hornets two years after they drafted him in the first round. This was only his third appearance this season, but with Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves out on the second night of a back-to-back, Smith was able to take on a larger role, and he took advantage. Having started slowly to begin the season, Reid has shown signs of getting back on track. He’s scored 16 points or more in three of his last four outings, including a season-high 21 on Monday. There wasn’t much value to be had outside of the points, percentages and three-pointers, but every little bit helps for category league managers. The 15 points were a new season-high for the “Stifle Tower,” whose fantasy value placed him outside the top-100 in nine-cat formats.
