With Devin Booker returning from a groin injury, the assumption was that Gillespie would head back to the bench. Suns head coach Jordan Ott went in another direction, deciding to move Royce O’Neale (12/5/1/1 with four three-pointers) instead. Gillespie didn’t record the most impressive stat line, but sticking in the starting lineup and playing 37 minutes means that he still has life in fantasy leagues. The Suns play two games in Week 9, a Thursday/Saturday home-and-home against the Warriors.

Williams recorded his second 20-point game in three appearances and fifth of the season in Sunday’s 116-114 defeat. While the rebounding number wasn’t on par with his season average, the Suns center has been more valuable to fantasy managers than anticipated. Williams is providing top-50 value in nine-cat formats, well ahead of his Yahoo! ADP of 83. Health has been on the 7-footer’s side, much to the delight of those who were willing to take a chance on Williams in drafts.

After a four-game absence with a strained groin, Booker played 31 minutes on Sunday. The lone negative for fantasy managers was the three-point shooting, as he missed all five of his attempts on the night. However, Booker shot a good percentage from the field overall and recorded a complete stat line. The Suns play two games in Week 9, starting with the Warriors on Thursday. Hopefully, the time off means that Booker’s minutes won’t be restricted moving forward.

Brooks and LeBron James have a well-known history, and Sunday’s matchup featured more theatrics. Having already been called for one technical foul earlier in the game, Brooks picked up a second when he bumped James after hitting a three that gave the Suns a one-point lead with 12.2 seconds remaining. Brooks finished with 18 points (6-of-9 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), one rebound, one steal and four three-pointers.

Randle spearheaded Minnesota’s offensive effort with Anthony Edwards (foot) missing his second straight contest. He knocked down a pair of three-pointers and finished one rebound shy of a double-double in this one. The 31-year-old scoring machine has delivered fifth-round fantasy value over the past two weeks, averaging 23.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 0.5 steals over six games during that span. It’s a busy week coming up for the Timberwolves as they host the Grizzlies, Thunder and Bucks.

The 25-year-old continues to play a significant role for Minnesota as he’s topped 17 points in four of his last six contests since December 1. He’ll continue to shoulder a significant portion of the offensive workload with Anthony Edwards (foot) on the shelf.

Reid played an increased role for Minnesota in the second half, pouring in 13 points over 19 minutes off the bench, after Rudy Gobert left the contest for personal reasons. It’s unclear how much time Gobert is going to miss, if any, but Reid would be the most significant beneficiary from a minutes standpoint. The 26-year-old big man has contributed second-round fantasy value over the past two weeks, averaging a robust 16.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.5 blocks over his last six games.

Booker is back in the Suns’ lineup after a four-game absence, but it isn’t Gillespie who will be pushed to the bench. This isn’t the first time that Brooks has appeared on the Suns’ injury report due to a sore left Achilles tendon. He did not miss any time for either of the other two instances, so the hope is that he’ll be able to play against the Lakers. On the heels of a two-point outing against the Suns, DiVincenzo bounced back nicely on Friday with his fourth 20-point game of the season. He hadn’t had a significant impact on the game through three quarters, but saved his best for the fourth. In the final frame, he recorded 10 points and knocked down two massive three-pointers to swing the momentum and ultimately help the Wolves get back in the win column. With Mike Conley (Achilles) and Anthony Edwards (foot) out on Friday, and Bones Hyland (knee) exiting early with an injury, there’s a chance DiVincenzo’s usage and production could take a jump in the short term.

After being ejected from Monday’s loss to the Suns, Gobert responded with one of his better performances of the season on Friday. In the win, the veteran center crossed the 20-point mark for the second time this season and pulled down double-digit rebounds to claim his 10th double-double. Most notably, Gobert came up big in the fourth quarter by going 6-of-6 from the field with a key basket down the stretch to help the Timberwolves get back in the win column. His numbers are down slightly this season, but he remains a nightly double-double threat.

Randle did a little bit of everything for the Timberwolves on Friday. The veteran forward led all Minnesota players in scoring, taking advantage of the charity stripe and efficient overall shooting. His work on the boards brought him close to a double-double, and he made several key passes down the stretch of the fourth quarter to help the Wolves land a bounce-back win. The move to Phoenix has given Williams a new lease on life basketball-wise. Brooks was Phoenix’s go-to scorer on Friday with Devin Booker (groin) sidelined, and he finished as the team’s only player to tally at least 20 points. He didn’t get there in the most efficient way, but Brook’s high volume allowed him to go beyond his season’s scoring average, even without making a three-pointer for the first time as a Phoenix Suns player.
