Alvarado moved into the starting lineup on Wednesday, the Pelicans’ first game since they lost Trey Murphy to a season-ending shoulder injury. He didn’t provide much scoring, but the assists and three-pointers will benefit some deep-league managers. Alvarado effectively split minutes with Jordan Hawkins, who logged 23 and finished with 13 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and two three-pointers. Alvarado offers a safer fantasy floor, but Hawkins will also have deep-league value for the rest of the season.

After a brutal 1-of-15 performance in Monday’s loss to the Pistons, McCollum’s accuracy improved on Wednesday. Shooting 7-of-18 isn’t great, but it was significantly better than what he offered two nights prior. McCollum has not provided good value recently, as he is ranked just inside the top 200 in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. McCollum will look to finish Week 20 on a good note, as the Pelicans will play games against the Timberwolves and Pistons.

Williamson was outstanding on Wednesday, doing a little of everything to lead the Pelicans to a win over the Timberwolves. He’s scored 20 points or more in nine straight games, providing top-50 value in eight-cat formats over the past three weeks. When he’s on the court, Williamson can be an elite fantasy player for managers willing to punt free throw percentage. And he’s begun to play to expectation in recent weeks, which has been great for those who have Zion rostered.

“Just when I thought I was out...they pulled me back in.” Bitadze has been ineffective since late January, scoring in double figures four times in 23 appearances. While Wednesday was a good night for Bitadze, fantasy managers should not overreact. While Wagner finished with solid numbers in the points, rebound and assist categories, the efficiency left something to be desired. In addition to shooting 8-of-19 from the field, he was responsible for a game-high six turnovers. Wagner has averaged 2.9 miscues per game since the All-Star break, so most fantasy managers won’t be concerned by Wednesday’s tally. He’ll look to end Week 20 on a high note when the Magic visit the Wizards on Friday.

Banchero has scored 30 points or more in three of his last four appearances, but a run of three consecutive double-doubles concluded on Wednesday. While he has been a better points league option than categories for most of his career, the Magic star has been a top-30 player in eight-cat formats since the All-Star break. Despite a delayed start to the season, this was a healthy year overall for Murphy despite all the injury woes around him in New Orleans. That allowed him to enjoy a breakout season with averages of 21.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.1 steals and three triples per game. He was a fantasy superstar, but his year is officially over. There is no indication of a timeline at this point, but managers will be hoping that he is ready for the start of the 2025-26 season. Jordan Hawkins and Bruce Brown should see a bump in minutes over the final few weeks of the season.

It’s easy to find someone to point fingers at for the blowout loss. McCollum and Jose Alvarado, who started the second half after Trey Murphy exited with a shoulder injury, combined to make just two of their 25 shot attempts. The point guards simply needed to be way more productive than they were in this game. McCollum shouldn’t be this bad going forward, and Alvarado could end up starting if Murphy remains sidelined on Wednesday, though Jordan Hawkins is also a candidate to fill that void.

After missing New Orleans’ last two games with a left ankle sprain, Missi returned to the lineup on Monday. That allowed him to record his first double-double since February despite the blowout loss. Missi only played 22 minutes in this game, which made his productive night even more impressive. Missi has been a difficult player to trust in fantasy basketball, but he is more than capable of having productive nights such as this. New Orleans has two matchups with Minnesota up next before they wrap up the week with a rematch in Detroit.

Following a one-game absence due to personal reasons, Williamson was back in the lineup on Monday. It was a tough first half; he shot 1-of-7 from the floor and scored just eight points. Williamson was far more effective after the break, but New Orleans trailed by 31 points at halftime. It was too little, too late for the Pelicans, but it was still an effective night for fantasy managers. Despite Cole Anthony (toe) returning to the lineup, Joseph was able to hold on to his spot as Orlando’s starting point guard. It could be just because it was Anthony’s first game back, but it could certainly be because this is a permanent change. Even with a fluctuating role that saw him spend a lot of time as both a starter and a reserve, WCJ hasn’t been a great rebounder this season. However, he was able to record his ninth double-double of the season on Sunday. It was one of Carter Jr.’s best games on the glass, but he wasn’t able to contribute much value in other categories. The Pelicans did not have Zion Williamson for Saturday’s game, so Brown remained in the starting lineup. While he did not record a complete stat line, the points, rebounds and assists were reminiscent of what Brown was able to do during his run with the Nuggets during the 2022-23 campaign. Bruce can be a valuable player to have rostered when allowed to play starters’ minutes, and the same can be said for Kelly Olynyk. He logged 31 minutes, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, seven assists and one steal. While the Pelicans have not played CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson for both games of back-to-backs, that has not been the approach with Murphy. He’s been active for every game since January 12, a trend fantasy managers hope will continue throughout the season. While Murphy’s fantasy value since the All-Star break has taken a hit, he remains a top-50 player for the season.
