Holmgren came out hot in Game 1, scoring 13 points in the first quarter. He didn’t offer much production after that, but the Thunder really didn’t need much from him. Holmgren’s final line only lacked an assist, and he was one of three starters to block two shots. Oklahoma City’s bigs were excellent defensively, with Isaiah Hartenstein (eight points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks) and Jaylin Williams (five points, four rebounds, two assists, four steals and one three-pointer) joining Holmgren in recording at least two “stocks.” Holmgren is one of the finalists for Defensive Player of the Year, joining San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama and Detroit’s Ausar Thompson.

The Thunder began the postseason portion of their title defense with a 119-84 rout of the Suns, with the reigning league MVP leading the way. Gilgeous-Alexander didn’t shoot the ball well from the field, but his ability to apply pressure off the dribble and get to the foul line compensated for that. SGA was also responsible for seven assists, and the nature of Sunday’s game meant he needed to play just 29 minutes. Oklahoma City hosts Game 2 on Wednesday.

Like Devin Booker (23/6/2 with two three-pointers), the Suns are going to need a much better showing from Green if they’re to have any chance of making the series competitive, much less harbor ambitions of winning it. Given what he brings to the table defensively, Brooks earns a certain level of freedom on the offensive end of the floor. However, there’s no reason why he should lead the Suns in shot attempts when Devin Booker and Jalen Green are available. In Game 1, Brooks put up 22 shots, with Booker next in line with 17 attempts and Green finishing with 16. That’s something to keep an eye on moving forward, beginning with Wednesday’s Game 2. If the Thunder defense can funnel things towards Brooks consistently, this series could be a sweep.

Of the three Suns players to score in double figures in Sunday’s blowout defeat, Booker was the only one to get close to shooting 50 percent from the field. Given the matchup, the Suns will need more from their star guard if they’re to have a chance of winning this series. With Phoenix having played on Wednesday and Friday in the Play-In Tournament before Sunday’s afternoon matchup, an extra day off ahead of Game 2 on Wednesday night may do Booker and the Suns some good.

Goodwin was impressive in Friday’s victory on both ends of the floor. On offense, he took advantage of his looks from beyond the arc and made over half of his seven attempts to nearly reach the 20-point mark. He also secured four offensive boards and tallied a couple of assists. But what really stood out on this night was his work on defense, where he changed the game with his outstanding disruptiveness. Goodwin nearly accounted for half of Phoenix’s 14 steals before finishing the game just one rebound shy of a double-double. Goodwin did it all for the Suns on Friday and will have a chance to put up similar production on Sunday against the Thunder.

Booker logged a fairly balanced performance as Phoenix’s lead guard. He shot inefficiently from beyond the arc but repeatedly worked his way to the line to help reach the 20-point mark. Meanwhile, he took on the role of lead playmaker, which nearly led him to a points-assists double-double. The veteran combo guard didn’t deliver any major counting stats. However, he took a very calculated approach, which allowed him to finish with a team-high plus-25 on the evening. He’ll have a chance to log another strong outing on Sunday in Game 1 against the Thunder.

The first-year Sun accounted for nearly half of his team’s 18 triples, and missed only six shots en route to totaling a game-high 36 points. He also contributed as a facilitator and amassed five stocks on the defensive end of the floor. Phoenix will take the floor in less than 48 hours to face the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, where Green will look to stay hot.

The Thunder already clinched the best record in the league, which led to him playing 28 minutes for a second straight game. Brea showed a ton of scoring potential this summer, which is why Phoenix added him with the 41st pick. Maluach hasn’t seen the floor much during his rookie season, but over their last three games, he has played a significant role in two of them. He grabbed 14 rebounds in each, and he averaged 2.5 blocks during them, but he was much better offensively in this one. He set a new career high for scoring and knocked down multiple triples. Maluach won’t turn 20 until September and still has loads of upside. He isn’t ready to contribute for the Suns right now, but he is worth stashing in dynasty formats.

Bouyea got the starting nod in Game 82 with Phoenix having already clinched the seventh seed in the West. He took advantage of the opportunity and stuffed the stat sheet in a big way to lead the Suns to victory. Bouyea has had some productive outings this season, but he hasn’t seen more than a few minutes per game when this team is healthy. Don’t expect to see Bouyea on the floor much during the postseason.

Dunn has been a solid rotation piece through the year, but he was mothballed in April. Dunn won’t produce to this level often, but it was a good reminder that he can still contribute for fantasy managers when he gets the chance.
