Jenkins was running up on his 50-game limit as a two-way contract player, so the Pistons needed to get something done. Friday’s game against the Knicks is the 50th that he has been active for this season. The expectation is that Jenkins’ contract will be finalized in time for Monday’s game against the Hornets.

Duren left Thursday’s loss to the Wizards early due to right knee soreness, and he’s in danger of sitting out the second leg of the Pistons’ back-to-back set. If Duren is out, Isaiah Stewart could remain in the starting five after starting in place Tobias Harris on Thursday. Harris (hip) is expected to take the court, and he and Stewart could hold things down in the frontcourt.

Allen played relatively well on Thursday, recording another solid stat line. Unfortunately, his night ended painfully, as the Suns guard limped off after injuring his right ankle with 3:03 remaining in the fourth quarter. Allen didn’t return, and the question now is whether he’ll be available for Saturday’s game against the Lakers. With the Suns already without Devin Booker and Jalen Green, they may have to rely more on Jordan Goodwin (6/2/2/2 with two three-pointers) if all three are unable to play.

Brooks led the way offensively for the Suns, but he was unable to keep the team from losing a game it led by a 90-76 margin with 10:11 remaining in the fourth quarter. Brooks had a chance to regain the lead in the final seconds, but his three-point attempt missed the mark. With Devin Booker and Jalen Green out, and the Suns losing Grayson Allen during the fourth quarter, Brooks is doing his best to shoulder even more of the offensive workload. As good as he’s been this season, that may not be the best thing for the veteran wing’s fantasy value.

Huerter made his Pistons’ debut on Thursday, but he wasn’t on the floor long. He played six minutes during the first half and did not see the floor again. Adding Huerter gives the Pistons another shooter to work into the rotation, but this may be a case where he proves more critical to his new team than to fantasy managers. Which isn’t much of a change from his time in Chicago.

With Jalen Duren not returning for the second half of Thursday’s game due to a sore right knee, Holland joined the starters to begin the third quarter. The second-year wing recorded his first double-double and three “stocks” in what was a productive night. It’s fair to question if Friday’s showdown with the Knicks was on the Pistons’ minds, as they started slowly in a game the Wizards would lead wire-to-wire. Cunningham did his best to lead Detroit back, scoring a game-high 30 points. This is not an injury designation. Jenkins has played 49 games for the Pistons so far this season, and players on two-way contracts are limited to 50 games played during the regular season. Rostered in four percent of Yahoo! leagues, nights like Tuesday serve as a reminder of Goodwin’s value, especially while the Suns are without Devin Booker and Jalen Green. His double-double was accompanied by five steals, one shy of his career-high. Over the past two weeks, Goodwin has been close to a top-100 player in terms of per-game value. The Trail Blazers’ approach of using “drop” coverage when defending the pick-and-roll proved costly, as Gillespie took advantage on multiple occasions in the most productive night of his NBA career.
