Ellis came off the bench in the Kings’ loss to the Thunder on Tuesday. The 25-year-old shooting guard had 12 points and two made three-pointers in 27 minutes. Ellis is more of a deep league fantasy play in a somewhat crowded backcourt with Russell Westbrook and Dennis Schröder.

Sabonis’ rebounding production remains elite, but that wasn’t expected to be an issue. What should have concerned fantasy managers more than it did, based on his Yahoo! ADP of 18, was the potential hit Sabonis’ scoring and assists could take. Through three games, he’s averaging 10.7 points and 2.3 assists. Between Dennis Schröder, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, at least three other starters operate best with the ball in their hands. It’s early, so all isn’t lost for Sabonis, but this is something that fantasy managers must watch.

Having scored 30, 31 and 32 points in his first three games, LaVine could not produce another 30-point effort on Tuesday. However, thanks to the ability to get to the foul line, he made it four straight games of 20 points or more. LaVine did not produce any defensive stats, so he’s barely a top-50 player despite averaging 29 points per game. However, based on his ADP, LaVine has been better than many expected before the season began.

After needing 22 shots to score 21 points in Sunday’s loss to the Lakers, DeRozan was a bit more efficient on Tuesday. Despite shooting 64.7 percent from the foul line, he’s done what fantasy managers expected, providing fifth-round value in nine-cat formats. That shouldn’t change for DeRozan anytime soon. However, if he can boost the free-throw percentage while continuing to provide excellent steals value, Deebo’s fantasy ceiling may be higher than anticipated.

Having been used in a reserve role for his first three games with the Kings, Westbrook replaced Keon Ellis in the starting lineup on Tuesday. While Sacramento didn’t get the win, the veteran point guard shot 4-of-8 from beyond the arc and was one of four starters in double figures. Ellis played 27 minutes off the bench, finishing with 12 points, two rebounds, two steals, one block and two three-pointers. While Ellis offers a higher fantasy ceiling at this stage in their respective career, Westbrook could be worth a look in deep leagues if he remains in the starting lineup. Of course, this will all change once Keegan Murray (thumb) is cleared to return.

Gillespie took on a starting role late last season for the Suns, but he has started this year in a reserve role. That hasn’t led to much production, but he shined brightly in this one. He set a new career-high for assists and turned in a full stat line. Gillespie may have earned more minutes with his performance, but that doesn’t mean he will play a large enough role consistently to be worth streaming in, especially with Jalen Green (hamstring) on the cusp of a return.

Allen has filled in nicely in place of Jalen Green, who has yet to make his debut for the Suns due to a hamstring injury. He has hit 15 three-pointers through four games, which was what we anticipated. The added boost has been the assists; he is averaging 5.5 per game, which far exceeds any previous season average. That won’t continue, especially when Green is healthy, but is has been a nice start to the year for Allen.

Williams has been coming off the bench for the Suns, but he played a much larger role than Oso Ighodaro, who only played 13 minutes as the starting center. That worked out well for the Suns, as Williams was able to tip the ball back in at the end of regulation to force overtime. Booker had some magic at the end of regulation, knocking down two contested threes that helped the Suns comeback from down seven with 20 seconds left to force overtime. They weren’t able to get the job done in overtime, but it ended up being the best performance of the year for him. Booker set new season highs for points, assists and three-pointers while setting a new season low for turnovers. This was the type of upside that had him going at the end of the first round in fantasy drafts, and he’ll look to stay hot against the Grizzlies on Wednesday.

DeRozan’s had better nights shooting the basketball, but he still finished Sunday’s defeat with his second 20-point game of the season. Remove Friday’s win over the Jazz, in which he only attempted nine shots, and he’s put up 37 in the other two games. DeRozan will continue to get his shots, giving him a shot at providing top-50 fantasy value. The player whose fantasy value may be most negatively impacted is Domantas Sabonis. Foul trouble was a factor on Sunday, but Domas (10/14/3/3 with one three-pointer) has attempted 17 shots through two games. That’s a concern, especially for managers who grabbed him with a first-round pick.

After totaling 13 points and five assists in his first two games with the Kings, Westbrook was far more productive on Sunday. Maybe playing against the Lakers was motivation, but Westbrook shot 50 percent from the field and was a blocked shot shy of a complete stat line. Also, he was 4-of-6 from three. Westbrook had five games last season in which he made five three-pointers, so this is unlikely to become a common occurrence. Add in the poor foul shooting, and there’s reason for fantasy managers to remain skeptical even after Westbrook’s solid showing against the Lakers.

Having totaled 10 assists and eight turnovers in Sacramento’s first two games, Schröder had a much cleaner performance on Sunday, even if he didn’t shoot the ball well. Two turnovers countered the 12 assists, and the veteran point guard finished with a complete stat line. Schröder had seven games last season in which he dished out at least 10 assists, so nights like Sunday are unlikely to become the norm. Unfortunately, the Kings don’t have a great Week 2 schedule. Initially questionable for Sunday’s game due to an illness, LaVine looked healthy during his 40 minutes on the court. He’s scored at least 30 points in his first three games, his most productive run since scoring 30 or more in five straight in January. While there are usage concerns for some of the other key players in the Kings’ rotation, that isn’t the case for LaVine. He’ll get all the touches he desires, but LaVine’s ceiling remains limited due to the lack of stats outside of points and three-pointers. Sacramento hits the road for three games during Week 2, starting with Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

After only taking 10 shots in the Suns’ previous game, Booker was more aggressive on the offensive end in this one and was able to get back over the 30-point threshold. He also increased his assist count over the last two games, though a new season-high for turnovers came with that. Grayson Allen didn’t shoot well from the field on Friday, but made an impact with his passing for a second straight game. He leads the Suns in assists through two games and scored in double figures in each of those contests. Booker’s Friday performance was a bit quieter than the 31-point outing against the Kings in the season opener. He was limited to 10 field goal attempts against the Clippers and had to rely on the free-throw line for a good chunk of his scoring. Brooks was accurate on high volume from beyond the arc on Friday, which allowed him to tally at least 20 points for the second straight game. The total output was enough to lead the team in scoring, which isn’t shocking when also considering Jalen Green’s absence. On the Heels of a 19-point season-opening performance, Monk logged a consecutive productive scoring performance off the bench. He shot efficiently, again, and accounted for nearly half of his team’s three-point total in the win. Sabonis came up big in the most significant moment of the game on Friday. After being limited to 10 points, Sabonis found himself in the right place at the right time, as he gathered a missed Malik Monk go-ahead shot attempt and put it back in with 6.4 seconds left to give the Kings a one-point lead, and ultimately the victory. LaVine went for 30 points in the season-opener on Wednesday and followed that performance with another 30 piece on Friday. Against the Jazz, the versatile perimeter scorer utilized the three-point shot, free throws, and work inside the arc to finish with a team-high in points. His production and efficiency from deep were especially noteworthy on Friday after shooting just 2-of-10 from three the game prior. Having agreed to a one-year deal on October 15, Westbrook played 19 minutes off the bench in his Kings’ debut. While the rebound production was solid, he did not shoot the ball well, which has often been said about Westbrook in recent years. Dennis Schröder (14/1/7/2/1 with two three-pointers in 30 minutes) is the starter and will remain in that role for the foreseeable future. DeRozan and Phoenix’s Dillon Brooks were locked in an entertaining back-and-forth throughout Wednesday’s game, but the veteran scorer did not let the trash talking derail him. DeRozan only missed five field-goal attempts on the night, shooting 11-of-15 from inside the arc. The issue for him was the foul line, with the Kings guard/forward going 4-of-9. The veteran wing shot 11-of-14 from inside the arc, with six occurring in the restricted area. Due to his minutes restriction, Williams was used in a reserve role in his Suns’ debut Wednesday night. He didn’t do much scoring, but the fourth-year center was effective as a rebounder and shot-blocker. Oso Ighodaro (7/4/1) started and played 19 minutes, with Nick Richards (eight points and three rebounds) playing the other five. Working as hard defensively as Brooks does, there may be a little more freedom offensively, even if that isn’t always the best approach. With Jalen Green (hamstring) still unavailable, more shots are available for Suns not named Devin Booker. Brooks took full advantage in his official Suns debut, firing up 24 shots. The issue for him was the three-point shooting. While Brooks shot 50 percent from two, he was just 1-of-8 from three. A career 35.5 percent shooter, Brooks made 39.7 percent of his three-point attempts last season. However, Wednesday’s poor three-point shooter should not detract from Brooks’ all-around performance, which was one reason why the Suns erased a 17-point deficit and took home the victory. Initially probable for Wednesday’s game with a sore hip, Allen played 36 minutes without any issues. Starting in place of the injured Jalen Green (hamstring), Allen was effective, especially making plays for others. Allen led the Suns in assists, and the seven helpers were the most in a game for him since January 31 against the Warriors. Add in the scoring and rebounding, and Wednesday’s performance was a reminder of Allen’s fantasy value on nights when he starts and plays heavy minutes. Booker missed five free throws in Wednesday’s season opener, but that’s probably the lone complaint you’ll hear from those who have him rostered. The fact that the Suns’ star got to the foul line that often while also attempting 19 field goals says a lot about what he was able to do offensively. Booker may have some help soon, as Jalen Green (hamstring) could return during Phoenix’s upcoming three-game road trip.
