This is an update from a previous report from Charania that indicated that AD would likely undergo surgery and miss several months. Davis took to social media to say those reports were false, so it isn’t surprising that Charania provided an updated timeline. This will have Davis being re-evaluated in late February, which makes a trade far more likely. Until that happens (or doesn’t), Daniel Gafford should start at center.

Shams also notes that the Mavericks have renewed trade talks for Davis, and he could be moved to a contender before the deadline, which would shorten his return date and get him established with a new team. This latest development means we may have seen the last of Davis in a Dallas uniform, ending one of the shortest and most bizarre runs in recent memory. Davis has appeared in just 29 games for the Mavericks after the improbable blockbuster deal that swapped him for Luka Dončić. Fantasy managers holding onto Davis can safely drop him to free up a valuable IL spot, as he’s not expected to be back prior to the postseason, if at all. Daniel Gafford should continue to soak up minutes at center, though given his injury history, Moussa Cisse should see a fair share of minutes, too. Naji Marshall and PJ Washington will be heavily involved in the rotation, and all three of Cisse, Marshall and Washington are worth snagging off the waiver wire if available.

After picking up three straight DNP-CDs, Monk has logged at least 19 minutes in each of the Kings’ last three games. Sacramento’s won two, and he had arguably his best all-around game of the season on Monday. Monk recorded season-highs in points, assists and three-pointers, doing his damage in 32 minutes off the bench. While Monday’s performance should inspire confidence among fantasy managers, it remains challenging to predict Doug Christie’s rotation on a nightly basis.

For the second consecutive night, LaVine knocked down three three-pointers in a home victory. He’s scored between 18 and 20 points in three of the Kings’ last four games. However, while Sacramento’s improved offensive balance has resulted in the team winning consecutive games for the first time since late November, LaVine’s fantasy value has taken a hit. He doesn’t offer much value outside of points and three-pointers, so he needs the high shot volume to make good on his Yahoo! ADP (62).

After dropping a routine 11 points in the first half, DeRozan turned things up a notch after halftime. He shot 9-of-12 from the field, scoring 21 points to finish with his first 30-point game since dropping 37 in a December 23 loss to the Pistons. While his fantasy value has decreased some in recent weeks, DeRozan is still a top-40 player in nine-cat formats for the season.

Westbrook’s 22 points were the most he’s scored in a game since dropping 27 in a December 23 loss to the Pistons. And after falling into a slump from beyond the arc to begin 2026, the veteran point guard was 7-of-14 in wins over the Rockets and Lakers on back-to-back nights. Thompson isn’t having a great season, to say the least. He doesn’t provide much outside of scoring and threes and he’s only averaging 11.4 points per game this year. Occasionally, he’ll get hot from downtown, like his old self from the Golden State days. The 35-year-old had 18 points on six threes Monday. The only other category where he totaled more than one of anything was rebounds with two. He’s not worth rostering in most leagues.

Marshall made total sense as a waiver wire solution this week, especially in deeper formats. With PJ Washington (ankle) and Anthony Davis (hand) both sidelined, Marshall is locked into a starting spot and 30+ minutes per game. He delivered on his opportunity Monday with 22 points, four rebounds and nine assists. He even added three steals and a block on the defensive end. Flagg turned his left ankle in the third quarter and briefly headed to the locker room before returning and leading the Mavericks to victory. With about 1:30 left in regulation and a seven-point lead, Flagg took his man off the dribble and hit a three-pointer at the top of the key to give the Mavericks a 112-102 lead. For those who may have hoped that Dennis Schröder’s three-game suspension would have cleared room in the Kings’ rotation for Monk and Keon Ellis, Sunday night was a disappointment. While Westbrook has consistently scored in double figures, double-doubles have been challenging to come by for the veteran point guard. The ten assists recorded against the Rockets were the most in a game for him since hitting that number in a December 18 overtime loss to the Trail Blazers. DeRozan led six Kings in double figures with his point total, and he also made some history, becoming the 23rd player in NBA history to score at least 26,000 points in a career. While DeRozan’s overall stat line was a bit lean, the six assists were a nice bonus. That’s the most in a game for him since he reached that number in a New Year’s Day loss to the Celtics. Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd was ejected from Saturday’s game six minutes in, and it’s fair to wonder how this may have affected Flagg. The rookie had a rough night in Chicago, committing five turnovers in his 28 minutes on the floor. Westbrook’s seven assists were the most in a game for him since December 27 and equal to his total in Sacramento’s prior two games. While he did shoot the ball well against the Warriors, the veteran point guard has made just 38.9 percent of his attempts over the past two weeks. Davis injured his left hand during the fourth quarter of Thursday’s loss to the Jazz. According to Charania, a second opinion on the injury’s severity will be sought. If surgery is required, Davis could miss “a number of months.” With the Mavericks’ forward/center being the subject of trade rumors, an extended absence would likely put those to rest. As for Dallas’ approach to the rest of the season, losing Davis could affect Kyrie Irving’s return from the ACL tear he suffered last March. Dallas’s first-round pick in June’s draft is the last one that they’ll have complete control over until 2031, so the front office could decide that punting on the rest of this season is in the franchise’s best interest.

Thompson needed just 13 shots to tie season-highs in points and three-pointers on Thursday. His production didn’t come in bunches; it was spread throughout the game, with at least five points in each quarter. Additionally, the four-time NBA champion set a new season-high in assists and finished second on the team in that department. After scoring six points in back-to-back games, Raynaud reached double figures on Tuesday. The rookie center finished one rebound shy of a double-double, but he’s now played 35 minutes or more in four of his last six appearances. Raynaud’s offensive ceiling may be capped since he’s in a lineup with three ball-dominant players (Russell Westbrook, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan). But, over the past two weeks, he has been an 11th-round player in nine-cat formats. Despite the limited ceiling, Raynaud is worth rostering as long as the Kings are without Domantas Sabonis.

DeRozan shot 3-of-6 from beyond the arc on Tuesday, the first time since December 18 (ten games) in which he’s made multiple triples in the same game. Fantasy managers don’t look to him for value in that category, but nights like Tuesday are helpful, considering the decreased scoring output. Compared to last season, DeRozan’s average (18.4) has declined by nearly four points. After playing 36 minutes off the bench in his first game back from a sprained ankle that sidelined him for nine games, LaVine was back in the starting lineup on Tuesday. The Kings did not have Keegan Murray, who will miss three to four weeks with a sprained ankle, so LaVine’s promotion did not come at the expense of Precious Achiuwa (nine points, nine rebounds, one steal, one block and one three-pointer in 22 minutes).
