Johnson’s meteoric rise continues as he steps into an expanded role for the Hawks from a facilitating and scoring standpoint with Trae Young no longer in the picture following his trade to Washington earlier this week. The 24-year-old snapped out of a brief cold spell in this one, finishing just shy of his eighth 30-point outing of the season while drilling a season-high five three-pointers and shooting a blistering 67 percent from the floor. He’ll be the straw that stirs the drink for Atlanta until further notice.

Alexander-Walker has been a home run signing for the Hawks, delivering the strongest season of his career, averaging a robust 20.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.6 blocks through 38 games. He’s averaging just over three three-pointers per-game after sitting at just 1.7 last year. Quickley has shouldered more of the offensive workload for the injury-plagued Raptors, who were without a trio of key contributors in this one with Scottie Barnes (knee), Brandon Ingram (thumb) and Jakob Poeltl (back) all on the shelf. They also lost RJ Barrett to an apparent left ankle injury during the late stages of the fourth quarter. The speedy 26-year-old guard dished out a season-high 13 helpers but it still wasn’t enough. He should see an uptick in creation opportunities and three-point attempts with Barnes, Ingram and Barret out of the mix, which provides a short-term boost to his fantasy appeal. The Raptors are back in action with back-to-back contests against the 76ers starting on Sunday night.

The absence of several key contributors due to injuries should lead to increased touches and creation possessions for Walter moving forward, which provides an immediate boost to his fantasy profile. It has been a disappointing second season for Risacher, but after figuring out some offense against Toronto on Monday, he was able to set a new season high for scoring in Wednesday’s win. It’s no coincidence that he also played a season-high 34 minutes. Hawks coach Quin Snyder hasn’t played the 2024 No. 1 overall pick as much as his other starters, but if he continues to play this well, he should continue to get the chance, which will lead to more production. Playing against his former team, Daniels was able to put together a stellar, well-rounded line in the win. He’s had some excellent performances recently, and he continues to be at his best when Trae Young isn’t in the lineup. Of course, that won’t be an issue moving forward with Young now in Washington. An early exit from Brandon Ingram (thumb) resulted in Barrett leading the way offensively for the Raptors. McCollum is on an expiring contract, and while the Hawks may have interest in keeping him around past this season, his main function in this deal was to help the salaries match up. McCollum’s time with the Wizards lasted 35 games, and he was able to show he’s still a talented scorer. He’ll be a reliable veteran for Atlanta, likely as a reserve. Surprisingly, no draft capital was included in the deal that ends Young’s time in Atlanta. Kispert is one of the two players headed in the opposite direction, and his addition gives the Hawks another perimeter shooter to place around Jalen Johnson if he can crack the rotation.
