Watson has been a scoring machine for the shorthanded Nuggets. Since Nikola Jokić injured his knee, Watson has averaged 23 points per game. He has been average in other categories, but he has been on an offensive tear. He coughed the ball up a career-worst six times in this game, but the rest of his performance was strong and helped Denver steal a win on the road. Watson will remain a must-roster player until Aaron Gordon (hamstring) returns, and he should still hold value beyond that.

Nnaji hasn’t filled the starting center spot with both Nikola Jokić (knee) and Jonas Valančiūnas (calf) sidelined, but he has been solid as the backup to DaRon Holmes II. However, in this game, he was more than just a solid reserve. Nnaji matched his career high for points, nearly recorded a double-double and contributed four “stocks” in 32 minutes off the bench. Whether he moves into the starting lineup or continues to come off the bench, Nnaji is the better option than Holmes as a fill-in.

With Jamal Murray (ankle) sidelined for the second night of Denver’s back-to-back, Pickett entered the starting unit in his place. It was his fourth start of the season, including his third in their last four games. The result was a new career high for points for the 2023 second-round pick. Murray should be back for their next game on Wednesday in Boston, so Pickett likely won’t be able to provide an encore. However, he may have earned himself more minutes, and he will have more streaming appeal during his next start.

The rookie got a second straight start and ended up having the best performance of his young career. This was what Toronto envisioned when they drafted him. The combination of passing and defensive production was fantastic for both the Raptors and fantasy managers alike. Barnes fell short of a triple-double, but he was able to turn in a strong stat line in the win over Atlanta. This was the third time in his last five games that Barnes has finished with at least 10 assists. It has been an excellent season for Barnes, which has been highlighted by a major leap in efficiency. It became the de facto Murray show for the injury-plagued Nuggets in their second contest since losing superstar Nikola Jokić earlier this week to a hyperextended left knee that is expected to keep him sidelined into late January. The 28-year-old star put up a whopping 28 shots in this one, his third-most in a game this season, and broke the 30-point barrier for the 10th time. He poured in 28 points by halftime and was relatively quiet down the home stretch as Denver’s lead evaporated. He’ll be asked to carry Denver for the foreseeable future since they’re also playing without starters Aaron Gordon (hamstring), Christian Braun (ankle), Cam Johnson (knee) and Jonas Valanciunas (calf). It’s a positive short-term development from a fantasy standpoint as it significantly raises his scoring floor.

Already without Nikola Jokić, the Nuggets lost Valančiūnas during Wednesday’s win over the Raptors. The four-week diagnosis means that Denver will be down its top two centers, and with Aaron Gordon (hamstring) also out, they’re in a tough spot depth-wise. DaRon Holmes II played 22 minutes off the bench on Wednesday; look for him to take on a prominent role out of necessity.
