Murray-Boyles aggravated his sprained left thumb during a February 8 win over the Pacers, missing Toronto’s last game before the All-Star break. The rookie is on track to return Thursday night, likely slotting into the lineup as Jakob Poeltl’s backup. If Sandro Mamukelashvili (ribs) can’t play, there will be a few more minutes available to CMB.

Paul was waived by the Raptors on Friday afternoon and shortly afterwards, took to Instagram to announce his official retirement, saying, “This is it! After over 21 years, I’m stepping away from basketball.” Paul had previously announced that this would be his final season, but then tensions flared with the Clippers earlier in the year, which led to his departure from the team. Paul was a 12-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA point guard, five-time assists leader, nine-time All-NBA defensive team honoree, and two-time Olympic gold medalist with the United States men’s basketball team. He averaged 16.8 points, 9.2 assists, and 4.4 rebounds in his career and will undoubtedly be a Hall of Famer.

Barnes has enjoyed an excellent season, and he will enter the All-Star break on a high note, even if it wasn’t enough for the Raptors to get a win. This was his fourth game with at least four blocks over the past two weeks, and he has averaged 18.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.8 blocks while shooting 54.4 percent from the floor during that stretch. After playing in the All-Star Game, Barnes will look to finish out the final two months of the regular season strong.

Poeltl suited up for the first time since December and was immediately back in the starting unit. He played 20 minutes and wasn’t productive, but it was a positive step to see him back out on the floor. It has been a rough season to this point for Poeltl, but he’ll get some time to rest more during the All-Star break. He’ll look to have a more productive final two months of the regular season.

Cunningham remained hot to help Detroit win a third straight game to enter the All-Star break. He was able to match his season high for three-pointers while also shooting efficiently from the floor. Reed got the starting nod with both Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart suspended for this game. He made an immediate impact on this game, contributing 16 points and three stocks in the first quarter without missing a shot in just the first quarter. He cooled off as the game progressed, but he was still incredibly productive. Stewart has six games left on his suspension, while Duren will only be sidelined for one more, which will be on Feb. 19 against the Knicks. Reed should get one more start and then play an increased role off the bench until Stewart returns.

Duren was suspended two games for initiating the altercation and fighting, according to a release from the NBA. The 22-year-old center started the altercation with the Hornets by shoving Moussa Diabate in the face with his open hand. Duren will begin serving his suspension Wednesday against the Raptors. He’ll still be able to participate in the All-Star despite his suspension.

Stewart, who was levied with the longest suspension stemming from the altercation between the Pistons and Hornets, was suspended for leaving the bench area, aggressively entering an on-court altercation and fighting, according to a release from the NBA. The 24-year-old power forward’s repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts was also a factor in the length of his suspension. He’ll begin serving his suspension Wednesday against the Raptors. Typically, Robinson’s impact comes from behind the three-point line. However, that wasn’t the case in this game. He only took three triples, but he made all seven of his attempts from inside the arc, which was enough to help end Charlotte’s winning streak. Cunningham didn’t do much in Friday’s win over the Knicks, though that was mostly due to the lopsided score, which limited his minutes. However, he was able to respond with a strong performance to help end the Hornets’ winning streak. Cunningham’s 33 points were the most he has scored in a game since November. He’ll look to stay hot in Detroit’s final game before the All-Star break in Toronto on Wednesday.

Reed was able to play a larger role for a second straight game. The first was because Jalen Duren (knee) was sidelined. For this one, it was because both Duren and Isaiah Stewart were ejected for their involvement in a brawl. Managers should expect both Duren and Stewart to face suspensions, and Stewart’s could be lengthy. Reed is rostered in just one percent of Yahoo! leagues, and he should be worth streaming against the Raptors on Wednesday.

Expect some suspensions to be handed out. The brawl started with Duren and Moussa Diabate getting tangled up, and every time it seemed like cooler heads would prevail, things escalated again. Diabate and Miles Bridges were also ejected. This leaves Detroit shorthanded down low. With Tolu Smith in the G League, Paul Reed should fill the center minutes for the remainder of this game.

Jackson-Davis made the most of his debut appearance for the Raptors, recording a double-double. While 16 minutes aren’t a big deal for most players, TJD met or exceeded that number just 14 times with the Warriors this season before being traded. The issue moving forward is that the Raptors were shorthanded on Sunday: Jakob Poeltl (back) was out, and Collin Murray-Boyles left the game in the first half with a thumb injury. While Jackson-Davis played well, fantasy managers should not overreact.

Back in the lineup after sitting out Thursday’s win over the Bulls, Barrett had a good afternoon against the Pacers. All that was missing from his stat line was a blocked shot. Unfortunately, Barrett’s fantasy value has tailed off after a hot start to the season. But, in fairness to him, there may have been too much expected of Barrett in terms of fantasy value. While days like Sunday are certainly possible, Carter is a better option in points leagues than category leagues.

With Jakob Poeltl (back) still out and Collin Murray-Boyles exiting before halftime after aggravating his left thumb injury, the Raptors needed a bit more from Mamukelashvili on Sunday. As has been the case multiple times this season, Mamu stepped up, and he’s scored at least 14 points in four consecutive games. Poeltl is getting closer to a return, but it’s challenging to envision a scenario in which Mamukelashvili falls off the radar entirely. He’s played that well in his first season in Toronto.

All that was missing from Murray-Boyles’ stat line on Thursday was a three-pointer, and that isn’t a category where he usually provides value. The rookie forward/center did appear to tweak his left thumb during the victory, but he remained in the game. Afterward, Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic said that the protective wrap will stay on Murray-Boyles’ left thumb for another five weeks. The only concern for fantasy managers is what happens when Jakob Poeltl (back) returns, as he could be back before the All-Star break. The 57th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Jackson-Davis’ playing time decreased in each of his three seasons with the Warriors. He was essentially passed in the rotation by Quinten Post, a second-round pick in the 2024 draft. Jackson-Davis appeared in 36 games this season, averaging 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11.1 minutes. This transaction is unlikely to affect fantasy basketball, as the Raptors added a frontcourt player in last summer’s draft lottery (Collin Murray-Boyles) and in free agency (Sandro Mamukelashvili).
